Presentation TOPIC. Read carefully.

Our President is sitting at the veranda, enjoying his breakfast with a cup of hot coffee and a bowl of

soto. Some headlines on newspaper steal our President’s attention which, then, makes him sad and

frustrated with the situation. Here are the headlines:

Winning Sea Games 2012 Indonesia counted on senior athletes while other countries

relied on athletes of the third or even forth level. What’s wrong with the regeneration?

He plans to designate some candidates to occupy several positions at his new cabinet, as follows:

1. Minister for Women’s Empowerment

2. Minister for Youth and Children

3. Minister of Agriculture

4. Minister of Information & Technology

5. Minister of Sport

He invites you to meet him and present your brilliant idea about the problems related to those things

which can save us from this condition.

So, come on. It’s your job to help our President. Choose one title (jabatan) and convince him that you

are the one he is looking for.

How to work with PROBLEM SOLVING CHART:

Problem Solving Chart creates framework for you to build argument and work through a step-by step

process of:

1. Describing the problem,

2. Identifying the potential solutions,

3. Choosing the best solution

4. Explaining the action plan and

5. Predicting the success

Solve-the-Problem Chart

Problem: _________________________________________________________

A. Describe the Problem

In this section you should clearly discuss the problem you have chosen. Support your

arguments with the facts and data.

B. Potential Solutions

In this part, you are to write down more than one possible solution that might be used to

overcome the problem. Simply describe your reason how the solutions are said to be

potential and effective.

C. Best Solution

This part requires you to choose one of the points you presented in part B which you think

as the best solution. Elaborate your answer.

D. Action Plan

In this part you are to explain the process you are doing in order to solve the problem.

Discuss the detail steps of your action by explaining them one-by-one. Your plan should

be creative and logical.

E. Sign of Success

Set the criteria for knowing whether your solution is successful or not. The sign of success

can be presented by referring to the problems you discussed in part A which would be

much more convincing if you use data or statistics

F. References

Write down the source (magazine, websites, books, etc.) where you get the data,

information about the problem.
