The installation of offshore cables requires a detailed knowledge of
the seabed conditions. Therefore an investigation of the seabed along
the proposed route is regarded as an indispensable prerequisite for
the planning and execution of a cable installation.
The elements of a route survey ideally comprise:
Desk top study
Geophysical and geotechnical survey
Lab testing of seabed samples
Survey report and charts based on an integrated data set
Burial assessment
Specific surveys where required, e.g. UXO, CX/PX, thermal conductivity, environmental etc.
