QUESTIONS?

When is the Coastal Bend Heart Walk? Saturday, October 3,
2020
Where is the Heart Walk Digital Experience? Walk where you are! Do
you have a favorite walking trail or one you would like to check
out? This is a great opportunity to explore your neighborhood with
your family and you can take the dogs. Not comfortable going
outside? Try one of these circuit workouts here.
How do I show that I'm participating? Share your photos and videos
using the hashtag #CoastalBendHeartWalk on Facebook, Instagram and
Twitter and follow us on those channels @AHATX. We will have fun
activities and challenges on these platforms so keep checking!
Reach out to your AHA staff partner too, they can help answer
questions!
Should I still register? Yes! When you register for Heart Walk, we
have the ability to reach out to you and let you know about day-of
activities! You can register at coastalbendheartwalk.org.
Since the event is digital, are you still fundraising? Yes, the
American Heart Association is still raising funds to fight heart
disease and stroke! Our survivors and their families are counting
on us to continue with our mission. Fundraising through Heart Walk
allows the AHA to quickly respond to the needs of the community –
through this fundraising the AHA donated $2.5 million to Covid-19
research.
Where can I send donations? If you have donations that you can’t
donate online, please send donations to our local AHA office at 500
N. Shoreline, Suite 203N, Corpus Christi, TX 78401 or call
361-445-3192.
I’m a survivor! Survivor hats and children's heart hero capes will
be available after the Heart Walk. Please reach out to
[email protected] with your requests. On our Facebook
page, you can redeem your virtual Red Cap via a Facebook
Frame.
Do I still get a t-shirt? Registered participants that raise over
$100 are eligible to receive a Heart Walk t- shirt. Visit the
Rewards Center in your dashboard for more information.
What if it rains? Heart Walk is rain or shine. Grab an umbrella and
galoshes and enjoy the fall weather in the Coastal Bend.
How long/far should I walk? Traditionally, the Heart Walk is a 3.1
mile 5K route. Walk what suits you and don’t forget to cheer
yourself on!

Step Challenge!
QUESTIONS?
[email protected]
Recruit Walkers: Make sure all your coaches and walkers are
recruited before Step
Challenge begins and they have downloaded the Heart Walk app so
their steps count!
Set the Goal: Rack up the steps with a company goal. Just a
20-minute walk is about
2,000-3,000 steps. Imagine if you all walked 1 million steps
together!
Make a Match: Inspire your teams to move more with a company
Movement Match, like
$1 for every 100 steps.
Spread the Word: Get everyone in the game! Teams can get healthier
together AND stay
connected.
Start at the Top: Sign up your CEO and other executives. If your
company leaders are in,
your employees are more likely to be in too.
Cheer Them On: Send a weekly email to congratulate all your walkers
and update
them as your company climbs the leaderboard. (And watch everyone's
competitive
spirit come out!)
you make a difference from day one.
SAVE LIVES You help fund lifesaving science. Science that can
create an artificial heart valve. Prevent a stroke. Put scientific
advances into doctors’ hands. Correct heart defects in newborn
babies. And someday, find a cure for high blood
pressure. Science that can teach us all how to live longer and
healthier.
BE HEALTHY FOR GOOD You learn how to live healthier with proven,
science-based tips and
information on how to eat smart, add color, move more and be well.
And you get to be a trailblazer in our Healthy For Good
movement.
ONE MILLION STRONG You join more than a million Heart Walk Heroes
in more than 300 locations
across the country, funding the kind of breakthrough science that
saves lives every day. Who wouldn’t want to be part of that?
WHY WE WALK
THE GRIFFIN FAMILY
Carl Thomas Griffin is affectionately known as CT. At only 2 days
old, little CT was diagnosed with
hypoplastic left heart syndrome with an enlarged left ventricle
that was causing extreme heart failure.
Watch CT's story to hear how this heroic family started down a
journey they never expected and how advancements in treatments and
the newest
innovations have given the Griffin family the gift of time – the
most precious gift of all.
