“Together We Unite To Build God’s Family”
Together We GROW, United We BUILD!
Acts 2:36-47
As a church, God has “expectations”
from us.
It’s because He is interestedon how we
CONDUCT OUR LIVES & express our potentials
in doing His will.
What does God “expect” from
Tabernacle Of Worship, Seremban?
Acts 2:42a….
“They devoted themselves
to theapostles’
teaching…..”(NIV)
The English dictionary defines…
“to set apart fora special use or service
or to dedicate.”“to give up oneself orone’s time, energy to
some purpose, activity or
person.”
A growing churchis a church where members are WILLING TO GIVE UPa portion of their time and
energy for thestudy of God’s word.
1 Peter 2:2….“Like newborn babies,
crave pure spiritual milk,so that by it you may
grow up in your salvation.” (NIV)
Fred Cook puts it this way…. “Maturity is the ability to
doa job whether supervised or not; finish it once started;
carry money without spending
it; and … bear an injustice without wanting to get
even.” (Quoted in Lloyd Cory, Quote Unquote)
2 Timothy 3:16,17….“(v.16) All Scripture is God-
breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness,
(v.17) so that the man of God may be thoroughly equipped for
every good work.” (NIV)
WILL help us “UNDERSTAND”the work of God –
how it is done andwhat are the resources
available to us.
“EQUIPPED”Greek “artios”
“to complete,fully furnished.”
It implies the provision ofall the things requisite for
a particular service, action.
Acts 2:42,46….
“(v.42) They devoted themselves
…. and to the fellowship …. (v.46) Every day they continued
to meet together in the temple courts. They broke bread in
their homes and ate together with glad and sincere hearts.”
(NIV)
… connotes the idea of“being partner, sharer,
associate & participant.”
Committed to each other!
“We proclaim to you what we have seen and heard, so that
you also may have fellowship
with us. And our fellowshipis with the Father and withhis Son, Jesus Christ.” (NIV)
1 John 1:3….
2 Corinthians 13:14
Hebrews 10:25 Philippians 2:1-4
The STRENGTH OF OURFELLOWSHIP is not ourpersonal ideas, opinions,
abilities, nationality BUT our“COMMON RELATIONSHIP”with God through Jesus Christ.
Acts 2:42, 46, 47….“ (v.42) They devoted
themselves to the ... breaking of bread andto prayer… (v.46) Every day they continued to meet together in
the temple courts. They broke breadin their homes and ate together
with glad and sincere hearts,(v.47) praising God and enjoying
the favor of all the people.” (NIV)
Their “fellowship”was expressed not only
in caring for each other, but in corporate worship.
It was both“FORMAL” & “INFORMAL” It was both“JOYFUL” & “REVERENT”
William Temple says thisabout “WORSHIP” ….
“The world can be saved by one thing
and that is worship.
… For to worship is to quicken the conscience by the holinessof God, to feed the mind withthe truth of God, to purge the imagination by the beauty of God, to open the heart to the love of God, to devote the will
to the purpose of God.”
Acts 2:43, 47….“ (v.43) Everyone was filled with awe, and many wonders and
miraculous signs were done by the apostles... (v.47) praising
God and enjoying the favor of all
the people. And the Lord added
to their number daily those who
were being saved.” (NIV)
The Holy Spirit isa missionary Spirit
who created a missionary church.
One overriding MOTIVE….
They were “FILLED”with Holy Spirit.
They “PREACHED” theWord of God.
They continued to “TESTIFY” about Christ. The Lord “ADDED” people daily.
said….“Success in witnessing issimply taking the initiative
to share Christ in the powerof the Holy Spirit, then
leaving the results to God.”
God expects us to have“A BALANCE CHURCH
LIFE.” • Be a LEARNING PEOPLE.• Be a WORSHIPING PEOPLE.• Be a CARING PEOPLE.• Be a WITNESSING PEOPLE.
