Although, in spite of, despiteNota: El ttulo correcto de esta entrada es "Although, in spite of, despite" **************** Pregunta:

Hola!!!...siento molestarte con estas dudas pero quizs me ayudes con esto... - Although the traffic was bad,I arrived on time (aunque el trfico estaba pesado, lleg a tiempo) -In spite of the traffic, I arrived on time(a pesar del trfico, llegu a tiempo) 1.-Noto que al usar 'IN SPITE OF' en vez de 'ALTHOUGH' ya no es necesario colocar la parte traducida: 'estaba pesado' Es correcto eso? 2.-Although lleva verbo // In spite of no lleva.Tiene algo que ver? 3.-No afecta nada si reemplazo 'in spite of' por 'despite'? Alguna otra acotacin, desde luego, ser bienvenida. Gracias de todas formas. Frank **************** Respuesta:

Efectivamente, "in spite of,despite/(al)though" tienen prcticamente el mismo significado. Significados: -In spite of [in spait of] / despite [despait ] --> a pesar de -Although [aldou]---> Aunque -Though [dou]---> Aunque - Even tough [iven dou]--> Aunque, an incluso.

Ms ejemplos: -I understood him, in spite of his accent. Le entend a pesar de su acento. Nota: his accent, o accent, sera el sustantivo. - Despite her bad humour, she answered my questions.

Recuerda: In spite of/despite + sustantivo. Recuerda: In spite of/despite + verbo-ing

Por ejemplo: "In spite of working hard, I didn't feel tired."

Ejemplo: -Although I felt tired, I worked very hard. Aunque me senta cansado, trabaj duro. Recuerda: Although, though, even though + oracin

Diferencias: -Although [aldou] -->Es ms formal. - Though [dou]-->Es ms informal. Quiz se usa ms al hablar. Nota: Yo, casi siempre digo, "though" [dou], no "although". -In spite of---> es ms informal -Despite---> pienso que es ms formal. Nota: Yo casi siempre digo, "in spite of", no "despite".

Me falta contestar a tu pregunta especfica: - Although the traffic was bad,I arrived on time(aunque el trfico estaba pesado, llege a tiempo) In spite of the traffic, I arrived on time(a pesar del trfico, llegu a tiempo) 1.-Noto que al USAR 'IN SPITE OF' en vez de 'ALTHOUGH' ya no es necesario colocar la parte traducida: 'estaba pesado'. Es correcto eso? No. Es posible decir tambin---> in spite of the bad traffic. Nota: Mira aqu todas las posibilidades de oraciones con "in spite of.." 2.-Although lleva verbo /in spite of no lleva. Tiene algo que ver?

Esto ya lo he explicado arriba. "Although" lleva una oracin completa detrs e "in spite of" lleva una preposicin o verbo en -ing. 3.-No afecta nada si reemplazo 'in spite of' por 'despite'? No, no afecta nada.
