In keeping the advocacy journalism, The Torch Publications will hold the LIYAB ‘18 –16th NCR-wide Journalism Press Conference with the theme, “Lagablab ng Pluma: Pagpapaningas ng mga Pahayagang Pangkampus bilang Alternatibong Midya” on October 3 and 6, 2018 at Philippine Normal University. On that account, we are inviting your school to participate in the event. The event aims to develop students’ journalistic writing skills on different genres, with additional seminars, such as: Lecture with Contest Proper Discussions (NO CONTEST) News Writing Lay-outing Features Writing Campus Press Freedom Bill Sports Writing Campus Paper Management for Students and Advisers Editorial Cartooning National Situation Discussion Editorial Writing Poetry Writing Copyreading and Headline Writing Teachers’ Situation Discussion Photojournalism These will be lectured by award-winning and distinguished personalities from mainstream media, alternative media, and the academe. There will be a registration fee of PhP 300.00 (inclusive of kits, hand-outs, certificates, medals and trophies for winners) for those who will preregister and pay through LandBank and PhP 350.00 for walk-in participants. Only one (1) adviser of each publication will be free of charge. Attached here with are the rules and regulations of the contest and the pre-registration guidelines. Thank you. REGISTRATION GUIDELINES
Liyab 2018 pre-registration is only through the official webpage of The Torch
Publications (http://ttpliyab.weebly.com/)
1. Online pre-registration form shall be filled out by the adviser.
2. Deposit the payment in the bank account of The Torch. The deposit slip shall
have duplicate copies. (personal copy and scanned copy for the website pre-
registration)
3. Lastly, the online registration form should be submitted including the scanned
official deposit slip.

You can pay at any LandBank branch nationwide.
There will be no limit on the number of students/participants per publication as long
as the pre-registration form, along with the deposit slip, is submitted online.
Also, there will be a limit of one (1) adviser per publication. The adviser cannot
get his/her own kit.
Walk-in participants will be accommodated during the day of the event with a
registration fee of PhP 350.

1. Participants should be from public or private high schools of National Capital
Region (NCR).
2. Each participant should join only one (1) journalistic competition (i.e.
News Writing, Features, Sports, etc.)
3. Participants who will be caught cheating or plagiarizing will be automatically
disqualified.
4. Ten winners will be awarded for each category.
Liyab 2018 Evelyn Pacheco Best Publication Award
1. The participating student publication can submit entries like broadsheet,
tabloid or magazine. This should be published from Academic Year 2016-
present.
2. Entries should be submitted before the event or until 10:00AM of September 17.
Five (5) copies should be provided by the participating publications.
3. Criteria for judging:
Writing Skills 35%
Content 40%
Visual Impact and Lay out 25%
Total 100 %
4. There will be three (3) winners for each category (tabloid, broadsheet and
magazine). The first place will receive a trophy while the second and third
placers will receive a certificate.
Liyab 2018 Best Publication Award
1. The Evelyn Pacheco Best Publication Award will be awarded based on the
accumulated points of participating publications.
2. Only one publication will get the Best Publication Award.
RULES AND REGULATIONS BEFORE THE PHOTOJOURNALISM
COMPETITION:
1. THE USE OF DSLR CAMERAS ARE STRICTLY PROHIBITED. ONLY
DIGITAL CAMERAS WITH A MAXIMUM OF 24 MEGAPIXELS will be
allowed on the competition.
2. All SD cards should be formatted and sealed on a zip lock plastic. Sealed
SD cards should be surrendered to the registration table before the start of the
opening program for validation.
3. Other rules and regulations during and after the competition will be
announced on the day of the event.
RULES AND REGULATIONS DURING THE CONTEST: For News Writing, Features Writing, Editorial Writing, Sports Writing, Copyreading and Headlining and Editorial
Cartooning
1. All participants should be in the testing rooms 15 minutes before the scheduled
time.
2. No adviser should be inside the testing room during the competition.
3. A participant can ask questions to the proctor. No one should ask question
to their co-delegate.
4. Foods and Drinks are not allowed inside the testing rooms.
5. All bags and gadgets should be in front of the proctor before the start of the
contest.
6. Any participant/ adviser who violate any rules announced on the day of the
