NPH USA supports Nuestros Pequeños Hermanos (NPH, Spanish for “Our Little Brothers and Sisters”), a unique network of children’s homes and programs in Latin America and the Caribbean. We are dedicated to improving the lives of abandoned and disadvantaged children by delivering unconditional love, comprehensive healthcare and a quality education. Our goal is to help children overcome poverty and develop into productive citizens who become leaders in their own communities.

NPH USA raises funds, organizes volunteer efforts, and connects sponsors with children, measuring our success one child and one program at a time. By being part of the NPH family, sponsors, donors and volunteers see the tangible difference they make in the lives of the children, and are also changed themselves.

IT’S WHAT MAKES NPH UNIQUE

Our children are not placed for adoption. They are welcomed with the security of knowing they will be able to stay with their siblings and that they have a family for life with their new brothers and sisters at NPH.

We focus on each child receiving a quality education, opening opportunities to pursue a university degree or learn a trade. Education is the foundation for true change.

We raise each child with a strong work ethic. They contribute to their family by doing daily tasks such as cleaning, cooking or growing food. They learn about the importance of commitment and caring for others.

Our children give back a year of service to their extended NPH family before entering high school and another before college. They share the responsibility of raising the family and extend the chain of unconditional love that makes NPH strong.

NPH puts you closer. Sponsors form heartfelt relationships with their child through updates and direct correspondence, while donors receive continuous news on the impact of their gifts. All supporters are welcome to visit a home to volunteer or just spend time with the children.

Families thrive in the love and security of home. NPH welcomes hundreds of new children each year. Having lost one or both parents, many of them come to us deprived of basic needs. The children of NPH rest assured knowing that they can count on us for the essentials – food, water, shelter, clothing and healthcare – but it’s the added basics – a bed, towels, toothbrushes, and soap – that help instill the love and security that inspire confidence.

NPH USA donors help meet the basic needs for over 3,300 children, as well as ensure construction and maintenance of the dorms, clinics, schools, kitchens, dining halls and workshops on our campuses. Our children share in the responsibility of maintaining these campuses with daily chores and sustainable activities including growing their own food. As part of the NPH family, each child embraces the value of keeping their home running smoothly.

Education is at the center of NPH. Our children are inspired to pursue an education beyond the national averages. They have the opportunity to obtain vocational certification in a variety of trades including metalworking, baking, tailoring, carpentry and shoemaking, or to seek a university degree. An NPH education helps create future teachers, doctors, nurses, mechanics, accountants, carpenters, farmers and community leaders.

Our schools are a resource for both the children of NPH and the children in the communities surrounding our homes. We open our schools to over 1,800 disadvantaged youth in the community.

Donors help children get an education that transcends reading, writing and arithmetic. NPH focuses on the passing of the skills that build futures.

Prior to arriving at our homes, many of our children had never visited a doctor or dentist. In addition to excellent treatment, our clinic personnel focus on establishing healthy lifestyles so children can do well in school and excel as members of the NPH family. Each NPH home emphasizes wellness programs that include nutrition, hygiene, health education, sports and recreation programs.

The NPH network of clinics and personnel also perform outreach to surrounding communities. For example, St. Damien Pediatric Hospital in Haiti is a free pediatric facility that treats over 100 children per day. Overall, thousands of children inside and outside the NPH family receive quality medical care each year in our hospital, surgical center, and clinics. Donors help our children to be healthy so they may lead productive and positive lives.

Our children feel the impact of not only being cared for, but also being cared about. Our homes are guided by the principles of love, sharing, work and responsibility. The security of a hot meal, clean clothes, and a real bed means more to our children because it comes with the immeasurable feeling of love from our family of NPH staff, teachers, sponsors and donors around the world.

Each new child, whether alone, with his/her siblings, with special needs or with disabilities is welcomed into our family and given the opportunity to create a new life. Being part of NPH USA puts donors in a special partnership that allows them to see how commitment changes lives. Donors help our children emerge physically, emotionally and spiritually equipped to be successful in their journey through life. NPH USA puts supporters closer to the children to see the change firsthand.
