[To-day this mercy is for] those who follow the ummi Prophet, whom they find
mentioned in the Torah and the Gospel with them. He enjoins upon them what is
good and forbids them what is evil. He makes the clean things lawful to them and
prohibits all corrupt things, and removes from them their burdens and the shackles
that were upon them. So those who believe in him and assist him, and help him,
and follow the light that has been sent down with him — these shall prosper
Say, O Muhammad ‘O mankind! truly I am a Messenger to you all - from Allah to
Whom belongs the kingdom of the heavens and the earth. There is no God but He.
He gives life, and He causes death. So believe in Allah and His Messenger, the
Prophet, the ummi one, who believes in Allah and His words; and follow him that
you may be rightly guided.’
Dear brothers and sisters, in these verses of Surra Al-Araf, Allah mentioned 4
different rights of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) on Muslim Ummah. If we fulfill
these obligations, these responsibilities and these rights then our religion and Iman
will be completed and then we can claim that we love with our Prophet and if we
will not be able to fulfill these 4-rights of Prophet Muhammad then on the Day of
Judgment our forgiveness will be very difficult. Then we have no right to claim of
love with our beloved Prophet.
3
So those who believe in him and assist him, and help him, and follow the light
that has been sent down with him — these shall prosper
Dear brothers and sisters "The relationship of the Holy Prophet with the Muslims
and of the Muslims with the Holy Prophet is of a superior nature, over and above of
all human relationships. No other relationship is in any way comparable with the
relationship that exists between the Holy Prophet and the believers.
Allah says in Surrah Al-Ahzab
Surely the Prophet has a greater claim over the believers than they have over each other
The same thing has been said by the Holy Prophet in a Hadith that "No one of you
can be a believer until I become dearer to him than his own father and his own
children and all mankind. "
4
The Prophet (peace be upon him) also said: "There are three qualities that if
someone possesses one of them, he will experience the sweetness of faith. The first
of these is that Allah and His Messenger are more beloved to him than anything
else."
Abdallah bin Hisham naratted that 'We were with the Prophet (saws) and he was
holding the hand of 'Umar ibnu Al-Khattab (ra). 'Umar said to him, "O Allah's
Messenger (saws)! You are dearer to me than everything except my ownself."
Allah's Messenger (saws) said: " (you will not have complete Faith) until and
unless I am dearer to you than your ownself." Then 'Umar (ra) said: "However,
now, by Allah, you are dearer to me than my ownself." He (saws) then said: "Now,
O 'Umar, (now you are a believer)."
Dear brothers and sisters, companion of Rasool-Allah (PBUH) were the people
who meant what they said and their actions verify their claims. They proved that
they loved the Prophet (PBUH) more than their father, their children, their own
selves and everything else.
During the hard times of Battle of Uhud, Abu Dujanah made himself a shield
against the arrows for Allah's Messenger. He felt that if I will go for fight then my
5
back will towards the Prophet and this will be dis-respect of Prophet. He stood up
in front of Prophet by kept his chest towards prophet and back towards enemy.
Arrows kept on striking his back but he continued to bend over Allah’s Messenger
[saw] [to protect him] and in the end many arrows pierced his back.
When the war of Uhad ended and the rumor was erupted that Prophet is martyred.
Then many women of Medina rushed towards the battlefield. In those women there
was a woman whose husband, father and brother all were martyred in Uhad. When
their death announced, she said: Tell me “How is the Messenger of Allâh (Peace be
upon him)?” Sahaba said: he is well and as good as you desire.” She said: “Let me
see him.” I will not be satisfied until I see him by my own eyes. They pointed at
him. By seeing the Prophet she said: “All calamities, all disasters and all lose is
nothing so long as Prophet is safe.”
When Hazrat Ali was asked to describe the love he and his fellow Companions had
for Allah's Messenger (peace be upon him), he said: "Allah's Messenger was more
beloved to us than our wealth, our children, our fathers, and our mothers,"
My dear brothers and sisters this was love of Sahaba with their Prophet. Now it is
the time to evaluate our love with our beloved Prophet. It is the time to compare
our love to that of the Sahaba. Do we really love our Prophet? Do our Prophet
6
dearest than our lives, our families, our wealth and our Nafs. Do we hold the
Prophet [pbuh] so dear that we can sacrifice our most beloved things for him? Can
we leave our comfort, honour, life and wealth on the line in order to safeguard his
ummah and religion? Can we give up our desires in order to obey the Prophet's
orders [pbuh]? Do we stop doing something because the Prophet [pbuh] had
forbidden it?
Once, one Sahabi came to Prophet and asked a question in very disappointed way.
He asked, Ya Rasool-Allah You will be at the highest point of Jannah and I dont
know where I will be on the day of Judgment. I dont know whether I will get
Jannah or not and if I will get Jannah then definitely I will be at the very lowest
level of it and might not get your company there and then that Sahabi started to cry.
Actually brothers and sisters the love of sahaba with their Prophet was of real love.
Sahaba had different worries than us. We are worried about our wealth, jobs,
nationalities and PhDs and the worries of sahaba were for the company of Prophet
(PBUH) on the Day of Judgment. That sahabi was worried that definitely he will
not get company of Prophet (PBUH) on the Day of Judgment because the level of
Prophet will be highest. Then he started to cry but Prophet (PBUH) recited ayah
from Surrah-Nisa verse 69
7
And he who obeys Allah and the Messenger -they shall be with those whom Allah
has favoured -the Prophets, those steadfast in truthfulness *99, the martyrs, and the
righteous." How excellent will they be for companions!
But dear brothers and sisters love demands something, love needs something. Is it
sufficient to claim love only by giving statements and by chanting slogans. Dear
brothers and sisters love means respect, love means sacrifice and love means
obedience. If you love your parents but you do not accept their orders then is it
possible that your parents accept your love. If your father gives you some order but
you say "I can only praise you, I can only admire you but this is not possible to
accept your orders" then what you will say about this love. You will definitely say
the child has no love with his parents. He pretends only.
8
Dear brothers and sisters, you and me claim for love but we are not practicing the
sunnah of our Prophet, you and me claim for love but our days and nights are not in
accordance with days and nights of our Prophet, we claim for love but we have no
concern with the struggle of our Prophet which he made for 23 years. Dear brothers
and sisters claim for love will only come true if we follow the orders, if we follow
the sunnah of our Prophet. If we really go for the struggle and the mission which
the Prophet did for 23 years.
Allah says in surra-Al-Imran verse 31
(O Messenger!) Tell people: 'If you indeed love Allah, follow me, and Allah will
love you and will forgive your sins. Allah is All-Forgiving, All-Compassionate.'
It is not possible that we love our beloved Prophet (PBUH) but we decide out
matters according to our traditions and customs. Is it love with Prophet that the
9
courts in our countries are doing decisions according to the laws made by Yahood-
o-Nisara.
Allah says in Surra Al-Ahzab verse 36:
It is not for any believer, male or female, that when Allah and His Messenger
have decided an affair they should exercise their choice. And whoever disobeys
Allah and His Messenger has strayed to manifest error.
And in Surra An-Nisa verse 65:
"But no, by your Lord, they can have no Faith, until they make you (O
Muhammad (saws)) judge in all disputes between them, and find in their souls
no resistance against your decisions, but accept (them) fully with submission."
10
Dear brothers and sisters, the first step of our relations with our beloved Prophet is
to have faith on Him. What is a difference between Abu-Bakr and Abu-Jahl. Abu-
Bakr had faith on our Prophet and Abu-Jahl had no faith on him. Actually we
either do not know or do not want to understand the true meaning of faith. The faith
is not only the word to say from our tongue it is actually the change in whole
pattern of life, it is actually the change in overall goals of our life and it is actually
the change in all priorities of life.
Once a Baddu came form very long distance place and asked Prophet "tell me
about Islam in one sentence then after that I will not feel need to tell you again.
Dear brothers and sister only one question and one answer but the whole building
of our religion stands on it. Prophet replied
To say To believe in One God and His Prophet and then keep this for whole life.
After hearing this that man turned back and said that oh Prophet of Allah I swear
that I will never reduce in it nor make amendment in this Qalama. When he was
going back that Prophet said to his companions if he spent life like this then he will
definitely enter into the paradise.
Dear brothers and sisters our faith is not completed until unless our heart, our soul,
our body and our actions reflect this faith.
11
Most of us believe that we are follower of Prophet and we will all go to paradise,
but Prophet is saying something different. This hadith is naratted in Bukhari that
Prophet (PBUH) said "All of my followers will enter Paradise except those who
have denied." He was asked "Who has denied?" He stated: "He who has obeyed me
will enter Paradise. While he who has disobeyed has denied [and will not enter
Paradise]."
True love, in the eyes of Prophet [pbuh] was therefore obedience to his Sunnah and
following his mission and struggle. Its time to testify our love with our beloved
Prophet but normally we used to testify the love of others.
Dear brothers and sisters also its time to understand what was the mission of our
Prophet and what was his struggle for which he spent days and nights of 23 years.
Dear brothers and sisters, If we are doing everything, we used to tie up turbans on
our heads, we used to do Miswak during day and night but we forgot the streets of
Taif, we know the tasbehat and prayers of morning and evening and drinking but
we forgot the battlefield of Ohad and we forgot the hardships of the day of
Khandak, we forgot why the blood of our Prophet was spilled out in the streets of
12
Taif, why our Prophet was wounded in Ohad, Why he faced the hardships of
Mecca and why the battle field of Badar and Ohad were established.
Dear brothers and sisters, behind all these hardships and tough times there was only
one goal and objective to invite people to accept Allah as one God and to follow
the orders of Allah-Rabulalamin. Prophet struggled to implement the system of
justice in this world. Our Prophet struggled to finish all others false, fake and un-
just systems. He started this mission just after he came down from the cave of Hira
till his death. Prophet started to spread the message of Allah in the streets of Mecca
after the very first day of Naboovat by saying
Allah says in surra Yusuf verse 108
قل هذه سبيلي أدعو إىل الله
Tell them plainly, "This is my way. I invite you to Allah.
Allah also says in Surra Al-Hadid verse 25:
نات وأنزلنا معهم لقد أرسلنا رسلنا بالبياس بالقسط ﴾ الكتاب والميزان ليقوم الن
13
Indeed We sent Our Messengers with Clear Signs, and sent down with them
the Book and the Balance that people may uphold justice.
And Allah says in Surra As-Saff verse 9
He it is who has sent His Messenger with the Guidance and the Religion of
truth that He may cause it to prevail over all religions, much as the polytheists,
Musharkeen may dislike it.
Allah also says in Surra Al-Fath verse 28
He it is Who sent His Messenger with the True Guidance and the Religion of
Truth that He may make it prevail over every religion. Sufficient is Allah as a
witness (to this)
14
Dear brothers and sisters this is the most important sunna which we have forgotten
completely. We forgot that struggle and that mission of our Prophet which he
started just after the arrival of first surrah and which he transferred to whole
Muslim Ummah after his last address during Hajjatul-Wida.
It is now our duty to make struggle for implementation of the systems of Justice on
the whole world, it is our duty to finish the system of cruelty and un-justice from
this world. It is our utmost responsibility to spread the message of our beloved
Prophet in these non-Muslim societies and it is our duty to invite people towards
our religion.
Dear brothers and sisters, we always desire to get Shaffat or recommendation of
our Prophet on the day of Judgment, we desire to have his company in Jannah but
what will be our answer on the day of Judgment if Prophet put this question to us,
where did you spend your whole lives, what was the purpose of your lives, what
struggle you did for the prevalence and dominance of my religion.
If Prophet put questions for us on the day of Judgment that thorn were placed in my
way, stones were showered on me, filth were thrown on me, me and my whole
family was prisoned for three years, my friends were martyred, I had been
compelled to leave from my own city, I made Hijra, I lifted the dead body of my
15
closest friend Hamza. I sacrificed all this only to implement the system given by
Allah on this whole world. But when your religion was under threat, when women,
children were martyred, when there were blood of Muslims everywhere, when
Yahud-o-Nisara made fun of my name.... what you were doing at that time.
If Prophet questioned from us that your lives were more important or the lives of
my companions were more precious? Your wealth was more precious or wealth of
my companions was precious. Your families were more valuable or the families of
my companions were more valuable? You claimed of love with me, you believed in
me, you also followed some of my sunnah but you had no concern with my
mission. You did not even think how to spread the message of Allah, you did not
think how to dominate your religion. You have no concern with 23 years of my life.
Dear brothers and sisters think if Prophet make such questions on the Day of
Judgment, are we ready to give answers. Dear brothers and sisters think do we
really love with our Prophet, Do we really love our Prophet more than our lives,
our families, our wealth and our PhDs and Masters. Do we really struggle on
individual and society level to spread our religion?
16
In Surrah At-Taubah verse 24, Allah put 8 different types of relations and our
affection with those relations on one side and three relations on the other side and
tells us that
O Prophet, tell them clearly, "If your fathers and your sons, and your
brothers and your wives, and your near and dear ones and the wealth which
you have acquired and the trade you fear may decline and the homes which
delight you-if all these things-are dearer to you than Allah and His
Messenger and the struggle in His Way, then wait till Allah passes His
judgment on you; *22 for Allah does not guide the wicked people".
17
In these ayats, Allah mentioned three main affections as center of love for whole
Muslim Ummah, the love with Allah and His messenger and Jihad fee Sabil-Allah.
If on these affections, the other affections of this world dominate then ummah will
be scattered, then demolition and destruction of ummah will be started. If love with
our countries, love with our sects, love with our tribes, love with our races, love
with our families, love with our careers and our lust for wealth become dominated
over love with Allah, His messenger and Jihad fee Sabil-Allah then wait for the
decision of Allah Rabul-Alamin. And in fact decision is in front of us, if we think
or if we realize. Dear brothers and sisters, is it possible that Muslims are more than
1.5 billion they also claim of love with their Prophet but Kufar are killing us like
goats and sheep, they are making feast on our resources, they are killing our men,
women and children. We love Allah and His messenger but 1 million people only
killed in Iraq and no tear fell from our eyes, 100,000 people killed only in Kashmir
but we did not have any feelings for them, 2 million people killed only in
Afghanistan but they are Afghanis what is our concerne with them.
Dear brothers and sisters, it is time to evaluate ourselves, it is time to evaluate our
preferences, it is time to evaluate our affections. It is time to evaluate our love for
Allah and His messenger.
18
I wish to conclude this Khutaba by mentioning that we can really show love for
Allah's Messenger (peace be upon him) and his Sunnah by taking account of
ourselves and recognizing our mistakes and shortcomings. When we look at our
own faults instead of others then we will be able to fix them in the light of guidance
that the Prophet (peace be upon him) brought for us. For instance, if one ill treats
others, he should recall the words of Anas: I was the servant of Allah's Messenger
(peace be upon him) for ten years. He never said any harsh words to me. No matter
what I did, he never said: "why did you do that?" No matter what I failed to do, he
never said: "why didn't you do that?"
If one of us becomes too self-centered and worries only about himself, he should
remember the following words of the Prophet (peace be upon him): "None of you is
a true believer until he likes something for his brother what he likes for himself."
And if we indulge too much in this world we should consider how Allah's
Messenger (peace be upon him) spent his life. Hazrat `A'ishah relates to us:
"Allah's Messenger (peace be upon him) never ate heart full for continuous 3-days
through out his life.
19
This is also the message of today's speech that the most important Sunnah of our
Prophet is preaching and inviting people towards Islam and most of us even do not
think about this Sunnah. It is the time to act on this Sunnah of our Prophet.
May Allah give us courage to think and give us wisdom to fulfill the real meanings
of love with our beloved Prophet (Amin).
Verily, Allah has conferred a favor on the believers by raising among them a
Messenger from among themselves, who recites to them His Signs, and purifies
them and teaches them the Book and Wisdom; and, before that, they were
surely in manifest error.
