Construction The grinding spindle is mounted axially adjustable in a clamp- ing block. It is driven v ia e ndless belt by a 3-phase motor. The motor is guarded by a filter against dust and dirt and is adjust- able at the clamping block by means of a rocker. The block is slotted for mounting on the slide of a machine tool. The reduced spindle overhang guarantees precise surface finish. 3. External or internal grinding For these modes of grinding use different pull eys and driving belts in order to attain the highest possibl e peripheral speed of the grinding wheel. Moreover, external grinding requires a wheel guard. The extension spindles on pages 2 and 3 are used for internal grinding. When replacing grinding wheel flange (63) or extension spindles, MT-so cket as well as tapered spindle should be slightly lubric ated . When replacing pulley or grinding wheel tak e care that spindle is not forc ed , in order to avoid damage to ball bearings or axial play, which imp a ir the surface finish. 4. Connection Check connection of socket and earthing conductor (voltage tester) before connecting the tool. Run tool unloaded for a short time in order to check the presc ribed direction of rot ation and to avo id loosening of the grinding wheel while working. Further , check the running of the driving belt . The tension of the belt must not be too high in order to avoid unnecessary stress on or damage to the spindle bearings. For external grinding mind correct adjustment of the wheel guard. 5. Tending the driving belt Unscrew hexagon scr ew (39) and displac e rocker wi th motor to adjust the required tension of the belt. M aybe, the guard (45) should be adjust e d; for this purpose unscr ew h exagon nuts (48, 53). 6. Grinding wheel For good surface finish us e for soft material a har d-bonded wheel for hard mat erial a soft-bonded wheel Layers of e lastic mat erial s hould be placed bet ween flange and grinding whe e l. At any rate, observe the i nstructions on "max. pe ripheral speed of grinding wheels" . 7. Dressing the grinding wheel Usually the grinder remains fixed on the slide and the grinding wheel is moved uniformly to and fro in fron t of t he dressing tool mount ed on the lathe . Avoid free-hand dress ing of the wheel as it is inaccurate and also dangerous . I naccurately dressed grinding w heels impair the surface finish. 8. Dismantling of motor 1. Pull out plug. 2. Take off pulley. 3. Unscrew 4 nuts (21) and remove hexagon screw s (19). 4. Remove ball bearings . Re-assemble in reverse sequen ce. 8a Dismantling of spindle 1. Remove cylindrical screws (61) and take off pulley (62) or (92) as well as grinding w heel fla nge (63) or extens ion spindle. 2. Unscrew grubscrews (59, 60, 70). 3. Take out spindle shaft. 9. Maintenance and lubrication 1. Motor Continuous use of the mot or requires careful maintenance . T he rotor ball bearings are protected against dust and dirt and l oss of grease by sealing rings . The t ool should be cleaned thoroughly aft er approx. 800 duty hours and old grease should be remo ved. Rins e ball bea ri ngs and r efill 1/3 with fresh, acid-free grease . Clean a ll el ectri c parts dry a nd bl ow or brush away the dust. 2. Spindle We recommend to take spindle apart after 500 duty hour s and to clean all parts t hor o ughly. Rinse ball bearings and re- fill 1(3 w ith acid-free grease . 10. Spare parts When ordering spare parts, pl ease, quot e Order Reference or send in sample part.
