IN NEWS: U.P. govt. drops ‘Urdu-Arabi-Farsi’ from State
University’s name

The Government in Uttar Pradesh on Tuesday said it had decided
to change the name of the Khwaja Moinuddin Chisti Urdu-Arabi-Farsi
University, a State varsity in the capital.
The varsity would now be called Khwaja Moinuddin Chishti Bhasha
Vishwavidyalaya (language university), the government said in a
statement.
The “partial” name change came after Governor Anandiben Patel
last year, during the convocation of
the varsity, suggested that it drop the “Urdu-Arabi-Farsi” from
its name.
SI UNIVERSITY, LUCKNOW Government’s Stand
The government said the change in name would provide the
university a “global identity” and fulfil the State’s
need for a language university, while expanding the scope of
employment for students studying various
languages.
An amendment would be brought in the U.P. State Universities
Act, 1973, the government said.

The Madurai bench of the Madras high court sought a response
from the
state government regarding the removal of the prefix ‘Madurai’
from the
Madurai Kamaraj University (MKU) and renames it as Kamaraj
University
Actually,
Madurai Kamaraj University (MKU) is a public university in
Madurai city in southern Tamil Nadu, India. It was established on 6
February 1966, based on the extension centre of the University of
Madras, at Madurai. In 1968 the foundation stone for a new campus
was laid by Zakir Hussain, the President of India. The Directorate
of Distance Education of the university was established in
1971.
In 1978 the name was changed to Madurai Kamaraj University to
honour K. Kamaraj, former Chief Minister of Madras

In 1982, the current name "Anna University" was adopted. In
2001, under the Anna
University Amendment Act of 2001, the university became an
affiliating university, taking under its
wings all the engineering colleges in Tamil Nadu.
The Government of Tamil Nadu established the Anna University of
Technology on 4 September 1978,
through Tamil Nadu Act 30 of 1978. The new university was formed
from the erstwhile University of
Madras faculty of engineering and technology and consisted of
four institutes: Madras Institute of
Technology, College of Engineering, Guindy, Alagappa College of
Technology and School of Architecture
and Planning. In 1982, the current name "Anna University" was
adopted

dispute
Kalasa-Banduri Nala project in the Mahadayi basin drags on over
the inter-State river water dispute, the cost
over the last 20 years has risen steeply from about ₹94 crore in
2000 to ₹1,677.30 crore now.
Kalasa-Banduri Nala Project
Undertaken by the Government of Karnataka to improve drinking
water supply to the three districts of Belagavi, Dharwad, and
Gadag.
Involves building across Kalasa and Banduri, two tributaries of
the Mahadayi river to divert water to the Malaprabha river.
Malaprabha river supplies the drinking water to Dharwad,
Belgaum, and Gadag districts. The Mahadayi Water Disputes Tribunal
was set up in 2010. Goa, Karnataka and Maharashtra
Mahadayi :
The west-flowing river originates in Bhimgad Wildlife Sanctuary
(Western Ghats), Belagavi Karnataka. Called as Mandovi in Goa.
Joined by a number of streams to form the Mandovi which is one of
two major rivers (the other one is
Zuari river) that flows through Goa.

Ramesh Pokhriyal 'Nishank' presents Vishwakarma Awards 2019
Union Human Resource Development Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal
'Nishank' presents Vishwakarma Awards 2019 to the winners in New
Delhi. 23 groups were awarded the Chatra Vishwakarma Awards (CVA).
Six institutes were awarded the Utkrisht Santhan Vishwakarma Award
(USVA). He appreciated NITI Ayog and Indian Institute of Technology
Delhi (IIT-Delhi) to support college students by bringing their
concepts into actuality.
Vishwakarma Awards: Vishwakarma Awards was instituted by the All
India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) since 2017. The
awards were instituted for the growth of society by means of the
stakeholders of its accepted institutes. National Integration Camp
is held in Sikkim
National Integration Camp (NIC) was inaugurated at the Indian
Himalayan Centre for Adventure and Eco-tourism Institute at
Chemchey, South Sikkim on 24 February 2020. The camp is organized
by Nehru Yuva Kendra Sangathan, Sikkim. The camp was inaugurated by
Lok Sabha MP from Sikkim Indra Hang Subba. Aim: The aim of Ek
Bharat Shrestha Bharat camp is to promote the spirit of national
integration through engagement between all states and union
territories. National Integration Camp: ♦ National Integration Camp
will be held from 24-27 February. ♦ It showcased the vibrancy of
India's diversity. ♦ The theme of the camp is Ek Bharat-Shreshth
Bharat Government formally approved the 22 Law Commission of India
for 3 years.
The law commission will provide a recommendation on different
aspects of law, to the government, which are entrusted to the
Commission for its study and recommendations, as per its terms of
reference.

Jiya felicitated for creating world record in open water
swimming
Ms. Jiya was awarded a Certificate and Trophy for her
record-breaking achievement by creating a world record. She was
felicitated by Mr. Abhay Dadhe, Associate Vice President of
Swimming Federation of India at an award ceremony held at K R Kama
hall, Mumbai on 23 February. Jiya Rai achievement: Ms. Jiya Rai is
an eleven-year-old daughter of Madan Rai, Master Chief at Arms II,
posted in INS Shikra. She is studying VI standard in Navy Children
School (NCS), Mumbai. She created a world record on 15 February
2020 by becoming the fastest special girl to swim 14 Km in open
water. She swam from Elephanta Island to Gateway of India, a
distance of 14 Km in 3 hours 27 minutes and 30 seconds
(03:27:30).
MCA secretary Injeti Srinivas launched spice plus form
Secretary of Ministry of Corporate Affairs (MCA) Injeti Srinivas
has launched the new company incorporation "Spice+" Webform on 24
February. It is a part of a comprehensive package to make life
easier for someone starting a business. The move is in line with
India's Ease of Doing Business (EODB) initiatives.
Spice+ form: ♦ Spice+ form will replace the existing Spice form.
♦ The form offers 10 services by 3 Central government Ministries
& Departments namely the Ministry of Corporate Affairs,
Ministry of Labour & Department of Revenue in the Ministry of
Finance and Maharashtra State Government. It will save many
procedures, time and cost for Starting a Business in India. ♦ The
form has at least five new formalities including Employees'
Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO), Employees' State Insurance
Corporation (ESIC) and professional tax registration, the opening
of bank account and GST registration.
