1 About This DocumentationThisBusinessObjects Installation and Configuration Guideprovides information for the steps
required to install and configure the BusinessObjects server and client for use with Service
Quality Manager 4.1.1. This document supports both BusinessObjects 6.5 and XI. This
document is divided in to two parts:

1.1 Audience
This guide is intended primarily for Product System Administrators to use when configuring
and installing the BusinessObjects Server Software.
Note:Service Quality Manager administrators should not, without prior consultation and agree-
ment from IBM, make any changes to the Index Organized tables or database schema. Changesto the Index Organized tables or database schema may result in corruption of data and failure of
the Service Quality Manager System. This applies to all releases of Service Quality Manager
using all versions of interfaces.

This chapter details the minimum server and client hardware specifications, and gives an
overview of the installation and configuration process.
2.1 Hardware Specification
This guides assumes that the platform is an IBM compatible PC.
2.1.1 Server Hardware Specification
The minimum PC specifications are:
2 * 2GHz CPU
40 GB Hard Drive
4 GB RAM
As part of the BusinessObjects Server installation, you will have to install the following:
Oracle 10g. This allows BusinessObjects to communicate with your Oracle databases.
Apache, Tomcat Server Software and JDK.
2.1.2 Client Hardware Specifications

The guide assumes that the platform is an IBM compatible PC.
The minimum PC specifications are:

3.1 Windows 2003 Configuration for BusinessObjects
The following procedures are required to create and set up a dedicated BusinessObjects user
with rights to act as part of the operating system and to set up a service.
The BusinessObjects Server software suite requires specific user accounts and rights to be set
up so the BusinessObjects user has the rights to act as part of the operating system and log on as
a service.
3.1.1 Creating BusinessObjects Users
This procedure details the creation of a dedicated BusinessObjects user, namely boadmin.
To create the BusinessObjects user, complete the following:
1. SelectSTART=>CONTROLPANEL=>ADMINISTRATIVETOOLS=> COMPUTER
MANAGEMENT.2. From this window, select SYSTEMTOOLS=>LOCALUSERSANDGROUPSand right click the
Usersdirectory.
3. Select the NEWUSERoption from the menu list.
You are prompted with a NEWUSERwindow, asking you to fill out a USERNAME, FULLNAME, DESCRIPTIONandPASSWORDas described in the example below. By default theUSERCANNOTCHANGEPASSWORDand PASSWORDNEVEREXPIREScheck boxes are notenabled.
4. Select USERMUSTCHANGEPASSWORDATNEXTLOGONand then select the USERCANNOTCHANGEPASSWORDand PASSWORDNEVEREXPIREScheckboxes.
Your NEWUSERwindow should now look similar to Figure 1.
5. When you are finished creating the user, click CREATEand CLOSE.
The user is now created.

3.1.2 Granting BusinessObjects User Permissions
This procedure details the steps to follow when setting up the operating system policies for
BusinessObjects.
Complete the following:
1. SelectSTART=>CONTROLPANEL=>ADMINISTRATIVETOOLS=>LOCALSECURITYPOLICY.
2. Expand the LOCALPOLICIEStab and click the USERRIGHTSASSIGNMENTdirectory.
A number of policies are listed here.
3. From the list of policies highlight the POLICYACTas part of the operating system, right-click and select PROPERTIES.
You are then prompted with a window called LOCALSECURITYSETTING.
4. Click the ADDUSERORGROUP.
You are now prompted with a SELECTUSERSORGROUPSwindow.
5. In the SELECTUSERSORGROUPSwindow click ADVANCED.
6. In the next window click FINDNOW.
In the SEARCHRESULTSsection, boadminshould now be listed under NAME(RDN).
7. Double click boadminand select OK.
In the SELECTUSERSORGROUPSwindow boadminshould be listed.
8. Click OKon this window.
9. Click APPLYon the LOCALSECURITYSETTINGwindow.
You should now see the user boadminacting as part of the operating system.
3.1.3 Setting Up Service for BusinessObjects 6.5
Note:This section applies to BusinessObjects 6.5 only. For BusinessObjects XI, this procedure
is accomplished as part of the main installation.
Use the following procedure to grant the BusinessObjects user permissions to log on as a
service.
Complete the following:1. In the LOCALSECURITYSETTINGSwindow, select LOGONASASERVICEfrom the different
policies listed.
2. Right-click and select PROPERTIES.
You are prompted with a window called LOCALSECURITYSETTING.

3. Click EXITon the ORACLEUNIVERSALINSTALLER: CONFIGURATIONTOOLSwindow.
A dialog window is displayed asking: "DOYOUWANTTOEXIT?".
4. Click YESto exit.
5. To create remote connections launch the Net Manager application by selecting:
START=>PROGRAMS=>ORACLE- ORACLIENT10G_HOMEX=>CONFIGURATIONANDMIGRATION=> TOOLS=>NETMANAGER.
The ORACLENETMANAGERapplication is now open.
Note:The following steps must be performed for each remote connection that needs to be
setup: Repos and Service Quality Manager database connections.
6. Expand the menu option LOCALand highlight SERVICENAMING.
7. Click the EDITdrop-down menu from the toolbar and select CREATE.8. In the NETSERVICENAMEwindow, enter your -and click NEXT.
-denotes the name of the machine and the name of the database.
9. In the NETWORKPROTOCOLwindow, the Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) is defaulted; this iscorrect. Click NEXT.
10. In the HOSTNAME, enter the correct name of the Host Name where the DB SID exists.
11. Leave the port number at the default 1521 and click NEXT.
12. In the SERVICENAME, enter the correct DB SID and click NEXT.
13. Click TEST.
The initial test will fail due to an incorrect username and password.
14. Click the CHANGELOGINbutton and enter the appropriate username and password for yournew remote connection and ClickOK.
15. Click TESTto complete the test.
A message with the text: "THECONNECTIONTESTWASSUCCESSFUL." is displayed.
16. Click CLOSEwhen complete.
17. To save the newly created connection select FILE=> SAVENETWORKCONFIGURATIONfrom the toolbar.
18. Exit the ORACLENETMANAGERtool by selecting FILE=>EXITfrom the toolbar.

4.3 Functionality Test
To complete the functionality test, follow these steps:
1. Select START=>PROGRAMS=>ORACLE- ORACLIENT10G_HOMEX=>APPLICATION
DEVELOPMENT=>SQLPLUS.
2. Enter the username, password and the service name you specified above.
If you get an error, check you have followed the instructions above and ensure the username
and password are correct.
3. Exit the ORACLESQL*PLUStool by selecting FILE=>EXITfrom the toolbar.

The prerequisites needed for the Business Objects Client Installation are:

The BusinessObjects License file must be made available.
5.1 BusinessObjects 6.5 Administrators Client Installation
Note: The exact appearance of the install wizard screens may differ from those shown in the
figures below, depending on the user's operating system and BusinessObjects version.
To Install BusinessObjects Client from a Central Location
Complete the following
1. Create a new directory in a shared location.
2. Copy the contents of each BusinessObjects CDs to the newly created directory.
3. Execute the setup.exefile.
4. Follow the instructions from the CHOOSESETUPLANGUAGEwindow, Step 3in the ToInstall BusinessObjects Client from the BusinessObjects CDsprocedure.
To Install BusinessObjects Client from the BusinessObjects CDs
Complete the following:
1. Insert the BusinessObjects 6.5 CD 1 into the designated BusinessObjects client PC.
Note:If the installation GUI does not automatically appear, open Windows Explorer and navi-
gate to the CD Drive on the PC. Execute the file called setup.exe. This will bypass the WEL-COMEwindow and goes straight to the CHOOSESETUPLANGUAGEwindow.

Complete the following to Start the BusinessObjects Server:

Note:A flashing red icon will appear at the right corner of your screen letting you know

Console

8.2.7 Creating a BroadCast Agent
The next step is to create a BroadCast Agent so that report scheduling can be performed.
Complete the following procedure to create a Broadcast Agent.
1. SelectSTART=>ALLPROGRAMS=>BUSINESSOBJECTS=>SUPERVISOR6.5.
A login window is displayed.
2. Enter the appropriate username and password.
3. From the toolbar, select USER=>NEW=>GROUP.
This creates a new group.
4. This group requires a meaningful name for your Broadcast Agent.
5. Right-click the newly created group and select PROPERTIES.
6. Select the BROADCASTAGENTtab.
7. Select the BROADCASTAGENTradio button.
You will now need to give the actual BroadCast Agent a name and password.
8. Enter a meaningful name is required here such as .
9. Enter a password in the PASSWORDand CONFIRMPASSWORDsections.
10. Click OKwhen complete.
Note: All users that are going to perform scheduling need to be added to this newly created
Broadcast Agent Group.
11. To add users to this group, right-click the user and select ADDTOGROUP.
12. From the drop-down TARGETGROUP: list, select the newly created BROADCASTAGENTGROUPand select WHICHPROFILETOUSE.
13. Click OKwhen complete.
This user is now part of the scheduling group.
8.2.8 Starting the BroadCast Agent
Complete the following:
1. Select START=>ALLPROGRAMS=>BUSINESSOBJECTS=>ADMINISTRATIONCONSOLE6.5.
A login window is displayed.
2. Enter the General Supervisor username and password.
3. Select the BROADCASTAGENTMANAGERsetting.
4. Click ADDand select the BCA recently created.

5. If the BCA is not present then you will have to click REFRESHBCA LIST, and enter theGeneral Supervisor username and password again. Select the BCA recently created and
click OK. Enter your password again and click OK.
6. Enter the password of the newly created BCA and click OK.
7. To verify the newly created BCA is added to the Broadcast Agent Manager list, click the
BROADCASTAGENTMANAGERand the new BCA is set to ON.
8.2.9 Recommended Settings for the Administration Console
Complete the following:
1. Select the BROADCASTAGENTMANAGERsetting again but this time click PARAMETERS.
2. Change the MAXNOBUSINESSOBJECTSJOBSRUNNING:16.
3. Click APPLYto save the change.
4. Click CLOSEto exit the dialog box.
5. Click the BOMANAGERSETTINGand update the settings as follows:
MAX. NUMBEROFBUSYPROCESSES: 16

6. Click APPLYto save these changes.
7. After all of the configuration changes are complete, click LOGOUTto exit the

functionality.
Complete the following steps to setup drill-down:
