He is famous for turning things like celebrity pictures into colourful and fun artwork. If you would like to know more about Pop Art and some other artists who made Pop Art you can watch a video here The image below of the actress Marilyn Monroe is one of Warhol’s most famous. Primary  6  and  7  –  Andy  Warhol  Pop  Idols

Option  1–  Digital  Pop  Art  ***  You  will  need  a  camera  and  a  computer  with  internet  access  for  this***

We  are  learning  to  make  digital  Pop  Art  using  repeated  images  Here  is  one  I  made  using  a  picture  of  my  cat!  You  can  watch  a  little  video  here  to  see  how  I  made  mine.    This  is  the  website  link  that  I  used  https://photofunia.com/categories/all_effects/popart?server=1    For  our  older  or  more  confident  digital  artists:  This  website  has  some  more  advance  features  you  can  try  and  experiment  with  to  make  Pop  Art  images  https://pixlr.com/.      Copy  them  into  a  Word  document  to  get  the  repeating  effect.

Option  2–  Make  a  Selfie  Artwork  ***  You  will  need  a  smartphone  or  camera  and  a  printer  for  this  and  6  coloured  pencils

From  https://www.tate.org.uk/kids/make/paint-‐draw/make-‐pop-‐art-‐warhol

Have  a  go  at  making  your  own  artwork  like  Warhol's.  You  can  be  the  celebrity!

 1.  TAKE  A  SELFIE  AND  PRINT  IT  OUT  SIX  TIMES   IN  BLACK  AND

WHITE

 2.  ON  EACH  SELFIE  USE  JUST  TWO  COLOURING  PENCILS  TO  COLOUR  IN  YOUR  HAIR,  FACE

AND  EYES

 3.  ONCE  EACH  SELFIE  IS

COLOURED  IN,  CUT  IT  OUT  AND  THEN  STICK  THEM  ON  A  SHEET

OF  PAPER  SIDE  BY  SIDE

HOW  DO  YOU  LOOK  IN  EACH  SELFIE  NOW?  WHICH  DO  YOU

LIKE  BEST?

Option  3–  Hand  Drawn  Pop  Idols  Don’t  worry  if  you  don’t  have  a  printer  at  home  -‐  I  don’t.    Here’s  another  option.

 1.  Choose  a  picture  of  yourself  or  a  celebrity  you  really  like.    You  could  find  a  picture  in  a  book,  magazine  or  online.  I  chose  Andy  Warhol.

2.  Copy  or  trace  over  the  simple  shapes,  you  don’t  need  all  the  details  just  face,  eyes,  mouth,  nose,  hair.  –  Make  4  copies    (I  folded  an  A4  page  into  4)

3.  Choose  6  pencils,  pens  or  crayons  to  colour  your  pictures.    This  will  make  the  piece  fit  together  well.

4.  Use  a  different  3  colours  on  each  picture.    Remember  the  background.    How  did  it  turn  out?

I  can’t  wait  to  see  what  you  create!  From    Miss  Burrows
