Alf iNWECTOIt. [Prom the Albany Argus.] TUB AMERICAN CLASS READEX -is the title of a useful collection of lessons in reading, designed for academies and common schools, by Mr. Geo. The chief ex- cellence of the compilation consists in the varietyof the selections.both as respects style pnd character, their ndapation t o t h e a g e , taste and attainment of the loarner, nnd in tho introductory eUcrciies in ar- ticulation, inflection, emphasis and the other essen tial elements of elocution, which the Author ha?em- bodied in regular lessons at the beginning of the book, and illustrated by an artificial notation of his own, exemplifying the varieties ¥ of inflection, and the importance o f a correct application of the rules to become a good render. These leisons are on epitome of the principles-of elocution which are to be found only in the elaborate treatises of the day, simplified and adapted to the capacities of learners, nno a s a help in teaching to read.theyiare well worth the attention of instructors of yauth. .
