The Toastmasters program is not a college, trade school or other formal course in Public speaking. You will find no Instructors, professors or classrooms. No one’s work is graded and no tests are administered. Members learn by studying the manuals, practicing and helping one another. The learning takes place in the club environment and you learn by doing and watching fellow club members. You gain quick thinking skills by participating in the one to two minutes speech on general topics during Table Topics and you will learn to introduce people. The Basic Communication and Leadership (C&L) manual has 10 speech project, each designed to develop your speaking skills one step at a time, starting with the Ice-breaker followed by organize your speech, sincerity, gestures, vocal variety, use of visual aids, persuading with power and finally an inspire your audience speech. You will learn more than communication skills as you will build leadership skills when you complete the 10 projects in the Competent Leadership manual and gain additional skills by serving as a club officer. Our Mission The mission of a Toastmasters club is to provide a mutually supportive and positive learning environment in which every member has the opportunity to develop communication and leadership skills, which in turn foster self-confidence and personal growth.
