MAJOR equipment cannot own an Inspection Task. They must be created in the MINOR equipment(s) associated with the MAJOR equipment. 2.2 Configuration Users with Visions Administrator privileges can use the Visions Administrator module to configure some of the Inspection Task fields for mandatory entry. This provides for data entry and report generation consistency. For further details see Visions Security Module #TM-V4-001.

 VISIONS 4 TRAINING MANUAL

WORK LOGS: INSPECTION TASK (TM-V4-007)

1 PURPOSE

 A Visions Inspection Task (IT) is an inspection document used to detail one time or recurringinspection activities that will be completed by the inspector or 3rd party contractors under theirsupervision.

2 DESCRIPTION

2.1 Definition

 An Inspection Task deals mainly with stationary pressure equipment and piping, but is also usedto support inspection activities for other types of equipment such as pumps, compressors,sewers, etc. where inspection involvement is required.

MAJOR equipment cannot own an Inspection Task. They must be created in the

MINOR equipment(s) associated with the MAJOR equipment.

2.2 Configuration

Users with Visions Administrator privileges can use the Visions Administrator module to configuresome of the Inspection Task fields for mandatory entry. This provides for data entry and reportgeneration consistency. For further details see Visions Security Module #TM-V4-001.

In the example below, the ‘Activity Code’ field has been made mandatory.

With the Windows ‘Tool Tip’ activated, the ‘Activity Code’ field is colorized.

2.3 Inspection Task Sections

The Inspection Task form is divided into 3 sections: Equipment, Details and Contents.

2.3.1 Equipment Section

2.3.2 Details

FIELD FUNCTION

Work Order No. Cross referenced from a maintenance programsuch as SAP or JDE

Memo No. Generated by Visions

Date Created The date the IT is created.

Equipment/Component Defaulted to ‘Equipment’. The radio button isused to select ‘Component’.

Component Code A limited list of codes used to define the typeof component.

Memo Type (IT/WR) Defaulted to IT.

Title: The Title should be a clear concise subjectdescription as it will appear in the Work Logand help identify the Inspection Task in thefuture.

Job File No Unique identifier based on WO# or Project #.

Priority Code Based on user’s best judgment, may be linkedto SAP or JDE

 Activity Code A limited list of codes used to define the typeof IT

Extent Full, Partial Recurring or Partial Non-Recurring.

 Auditable Select if audit function is required

Estimated Hours Estimated hours to complete the IT

Est. Labour Cost Estimated cost to complete the IT

 Access Required Select if access is required

Sentry Select if safety watch is required

 Actual Hours Actual hours to complete the IT

 Actual Labour Cost Actual cost to complete the IT

Permit A limited list of codes used to define the typeof permit required

Lighting Required Select if lighting is required to complete task.

Est. Material Cost Estimated material cost for the IT Bill OfMaterials.

Stream External-On, External-Off or Internal.

Insulation Removal Select if insulation must be removed to performthe required work.

Major Work Work flagged by a corporate cost standard.Reason for Work Scheduled, unscheduled or opportunistic work.

Cause The reason the IT has been generated.

Management of Change Select if the IT is part of a MOC.

Degradation Method Linked to an active RAID list.

Completed By

Scheduling Details

Status Open, Complete or Closed.

Reason Closed Specify why inspection was not completed.

Due Date Date the inspection is due to be finished.

Date Completed This read-only date field is set to the date thatthe user selected when changing the Status

field to ‘Completed’.Calc Due Date Field used for a Partial recurring IT.

Work Event

Use to include the IT in a list of available WorkEvents

Work Template

Identifies which Work Template the IT wascreated from.

Linked Inspection Report

Identifies the IR the IT is linked to. Comesfrom IR Work Memo. See IR Module#TM-V4-010.

  Corporate/site-specific. Based on the users’ security, these fields may not be accessible.

  Corporate/Site specific. Selections are based on the distribution list created in Lookup

Data|Distribution List.

3 CREATING A NEW INSPECTION TASK

To create a new Inspection Task, the user must use the Equipment Index screen to select thedesired Equipment Number.

Double click on the selected equipment number which will open the Summary tab for thespecified equipment and present the Overview tab. Right mouse click on Inspection Task andthen select New: 

Note that Visions creates a new Memo Number and includes it in the Overview.
