Welcome to the Club ________
January 2016 National Chevy AssociationTM 1
Hi from Nat’l. Chevy, As I write this it is Dec. 14 and we are all enjoying the delayed winter we are having. Today is about 40° with rain and extended forecast calls for this to continue right up to the 22nd of December. Lots of people are worried about a white Christmas, but at my age it’s just nice not to have slippery roads and bad driving conditions. We’re still keeping busy here, which is nice. More new parts are already on our shelves but not in the newsletter until next month. We now have all three 1953 grill bars with grill teeth expected soon. If interested call us 1) Upper Grill Bar #1942 $229.00 2) Center Grill Bar #1942C $229.00 3) Lower Grill Bar #1942L $229.00
They are really nice reproductions and may be less expensive than rechroming the existing parts you have. I seem to be running low on pictures again for the newsletter. I would appreciate any help you can give me. I’m working on changes for the new catalog as we are running low again. Hopefully it will be ready for spring as I don’t think a lot will change. But then, you never know. Paul is talking about adding more information but we’ll see how that goes. Time to go – Still time to say Happy New Year to all. ’Til next time......

Dear National Chevy Association:
Attached are some photos as well as a brief story of my 1952 Chevrolet Sport Coupe for possible inclusion in your Parts Line Club Newsletter. Through the years, I’ve enjoyed your Parts Line Newsletter almost as much as the parts I acquired from your Company. And I confess I always thought it would be amazing if the 1952 Sport Coupe would someday make it onto its pages. Way back in 1977, my wife and I purchased our 1952 Chevy Sport Coupe for 350 dollars from an older gentleman who had lost interest in restoring it. It was a 3 speed stick, which reminded me of my very first car in 1966, but it needed more than just a little work. I gradually completed an amateur restoration on the Sport Coupe. I was able to turn it into a safe, solid, driver quality car, but definitely not a show car. My wife and I had a lot of fun tooling around in it the next few years. During the 1980’s we had 3 children and our focus shifted from car hobbies to raising a family. At that point our Sport Coupe was basically relegated to storage. It was started up regularly, but only driven sparingly. Incredibly, it remained in storage for over 25 years, during which time I resisted any temptations to sell it. In late 2009 a medical wake-up call and
my retirement convinced me to take the 52 out of hibernation, and focus energy on restoring it. So, in 2010 a multiyear frame up restoration was begun. The exterior was taken down to bare metal, and revealed an extremely solid car with virtually no rust. Some glass was replaced, and new rubber moldings and gaskets were put around all doors, windows, and trunk. Various other parts were added with the help of the National Chevy Association. Grill parts, and bumpers were re-chromed as finances would permit. A local upholsterer re-did the original seats, and the entire interior. I customized the original grill, with more grill teeth. And just recently I installed a very cool Chevrolet Butterfly steering wheel from the National Chevy Association. The 216 engine and stock drive train remain original, but a Flow Master dual exhaust system was added, along with new tires, aluminum wheels, and shocks. A big thanks goes to the NCA; Very nice sales staff, great parts, and an obvious strong dedication to the preservation of early Chevrolets. I’ve also gained a variety of technical information about our Chevy from you.
Thank You, Tom ZellmanJackson, Michigan
