f. 15-Day Organizational Maintenance Allowances.(1) The allowance columns are divided into
four subcolumns. Items authorized for use as re-quired, but not for initial stockage, are identifiedwith an asterisk in the allowance column.
(2) The quantitative allowance for organiza-tional level of maintenance represents one initialprescribed load for a 15-day period for the numberof equipments supported. Units and organizationsauthorized additional prescribed loads will multi-ply the number of prescribed loads authorized bythe quantity of repair parts reflected in the ap-propriate density column to obtain the total quantityof repair parts authorized.
(3) Organizational units providing maintenancefor more than 100 of these equipments shall de-termine the total quantity of parts required by con-verting the equipment quantity to a decimal factorby placing a decimal point before the next to lastdigit of the number to indicate hundredths, and mul-tiplying the decimal factor by the parts quantityauthorized in the 51-100 allowance column. Ex-ample, authorized allowance for 51-100 equipmentsis 12; for 140 equipments multiply 12 by 1.40 or16.80 rounded off to 17 parts required.
g. 30-Day DS/GS Maintenance Allowances
NOTEAllowances in GS Column are for GSmaintenance onIy.
(1) The allowance columns are divided intothree subcolumns. Indicated in each subcolumn isthe total quantity of items authorized for the num-ber of equipments supported. Items authorized foruse as required, but not for initial stockage, areidentified with an asterisk in the allowance column
(2) The quantitative allowances for GS levelof maintenance will represent initial stockage for a30-day period for the number of equipments supported.
(3) Determination of the total quantity of partsrequired for maintenance of more than 100 of theseequipments can be accomplished by converting theequipment quantity to a decimal factor by placing adecimal point before the next to last digit of thenumber to indicate hundredths, and multiplying thedecimal factor by the parts quantity authorized inthe 51-100 allowance column, Example, authorizedallowance for 51-100 equipments is 40; for 150 equip-ments multiply 40 by 1.50 or 60 parts required,
h. 1-Year Allowances Per 100 Equipments/Con-tingency Planning Purposes, Indicates the totalquantity required for distribution and contingencyplanning purposes, The range of items indicates totalquantities of all authorized items required to pro-vide for adequate support of 100 equipments for 1year.

b. Repair parts mortality is computed from failurerates derived from experience factors with the indi-vidual parts in a variety of equipments. Variationsin the specific application and periods of use ofelectronics equipment, the fragility of electronicpiece parts, plus intangible material and qualityfactors intrinsic to the manufacture of electronicparts, do not permit mortality to be based on hoursof end item use. However, long periods of contin-uous use under adverse conditions are likely to in-crease repair parts mortality,
