• Inform your dealer immediately ifthere is any transport damage.

• Completely remove theaccessories from the carton.

• The suction unit is not siuitable forsucking up hazardous dusts asasbestos. Please consult yourKärcher branch or your Kärcherdealer with regard to suchapplications.

• Only operate the suction unit froma suitable socket outlet withearthing contact. Refer to theTechnical data for the necessarymains fuse.

• Connect to a properly groundedoutlet only - see Groundinginsructions.

When using an electrical appliance,basic precautions should always befollowed, including the following:This vacuum is intended forcommercial use.

1. DISCONNECT VACUUMCLEANER FROM POWERCIRCUIT before removing thecover, performing maintenancework, and when not in use.

2. DO NOT LEAVE appliancewhen pugged in.

3. ALWAYS CHECK THEPOWER SUPPLY CORD fordamage or signs of any agingbefore each use.

4. DO NOT PULL OR CARRYVACUUM CLEANER BYCORD. Do not close door andcord or pull cord around sharpedges.

This vacuumis intendedforcommercialuse.

SAFETYINSTRUC-TIONS

GROUNDINGINSTRUCT-IONSThis appliance must be grounded. Ifit should malfunction or breakedown,grounding provides a path of leastresistance for electric current toreduce the risk of electric shock.This appliance is equipped with acord having an equipmentgroundingconductor and ground plug.The plug must be inserted into anappropriate outlet that is properlyinstalled and grounded inaccordance with all local codes andordinances.

WARNING:Improper connection of theequipment-grounding conductor canresult in a risk of electric shock.

Check with a qualified electrican orservice person if you are in doubt asto whether the outlet is properlygrounded.Do not modify the plug providedwhith the appliance.If it will not fit the outlet, have aproper outlet installed by a qualifiedelectrican.This appliance is for use on anominal 120-volt circuit, and has agrounded plug that looks like theplug illustrated in Fig.A.A temporary adapter that looks likethe adapter illustrated in Fig.B, maybe used to connect this plug to atwo-pole receptacle as shown inFig.B, if a properly grounded outletis not available.The temporary adapter should beused only until a properly groundedoutlet (Fig.A) is installed by aqualified electrican.The green colored rigid ear, lug, orthe like extending from the adaptermust be connected to a permanentground such as a properly groundedoutlet box cover.Whenever the adapter is used, itmust be held in place by a metalsrew.

WARNING:In Canada, the use of a temporaryadapter is not permitted by theCanadian Electrical Code.

SERVICINGOF DOUBLE-INSULATEDAPPLIANCESIn a double-insulated appliance, twosystems of insulation are providedinstead of grounding. No groundingmeans is provided on a double-insulated appliance, nor should ameans for grounding be added tothe appliance. Servicing a double-insulated appliance requiresextreme care and knowledge of thesystem, and should be done only byqualified service personnel.Replacement parts for a double-insulated appliance must beidentical to the parts they replace.

Manual modeDry suction

♦ The surface filter is never to beremoved during suction.

♦ A paper filter bag or a membranefilter can also be used whensucking up fine dust.

Fitting the paper filter bag¾ Unlock and remove the suction

head¾ Insert the paper filter bag¾ Replace the suction head and lock

it in place

Fitting the membrane filter¾ Unlock and remove the suction

head¾ Pull the membrane filter over the

container edge¾ Replace the suction head and lock

it in place

Note:The paper filter bag is not required

Fitting the brush strip

Insert power plugSwitch on the machine and startusing it.

Power Filter Clean / FilterdedustingThe surface filter is cleanedautomatically by interrupting the airflow (approx. 10-15 s.)

♦ Actuate the remote control forPower Filter Clean at the handle atregular intervals, during drysuctioning as well as uponfinishing work.

Note:♦ Power Filter Clean is activated

automatically (hammering noise)when sucking up water from a fullcontainer.

♦ Clean and dry the surface filter,electrodes, and container whenfinished wet-vacuuming.

Automatic operation(only NT 561/361 Eco TE)

¾ Plug in the electric tool mains plugon the suction machine.(3)

¾ Switch on the machine (1)¾ The standby lamp is lit (2)

Note:♦ The vacuum cleaner is

automatically switched on and offwith the electric tool.

♦ The vacuum cleaner has a startingdelay of approx. 0,5 s and an afterrunning time of max. 15 s.

♦ Electric tools of 100-2200 Wcan be connected.

Match the junction box to the electrictool connector.

♦ Remove the pipe bend from thesuction hose

♦ Fit the junction box to the suctionhose

CARE AND MAINTENANCE

♦ Always pull out the mains plugwhen working on the suctionmachine.

Cleaning/changing the surfacefilter

¾ Open the filter cover (1) and takeout the surface filter (2).

¾ Cleaning / changing the surfacefilter

¾ Close the filter cover, it must lockaudibly

Changing the output air filter

Open the filter cover (1) andexchange the exhaust air filter (2).

Clean electrodes

¾ Unlock and remove the suctionhead

¾ Clean electrodes¾ Replace the suction head and lock

it in place

FAULT INSTRUCTIONS

The suction turbine does not run• Check the cable, plug, fuse and

socket.• Switch on the machine.

The suction turbine switches off• Empty the container.

Suction force diminishes• Remove clogging material from

the suction nozzle, suction pipe,Power Filter Clean, suction hose,or surface filter.

• Activate the remote control forPower Filter Clean on the handle.

• Change the paper filter bag.• Lock the filter cover in place.• Cleaning/changing the surface

filter.

Dust ejects when sucking• Check the surface filter is

positioned correctly.• Change the surface filter.

Automatic switch-off (wetsuction) is defective• Clean electrodes.• Constantly check the filling level

for an electrical non-conductiveliquid.

Power Filter Clean switchesregularly• Loosen suction nozzle or end of

hose when caught on vacuumedobject.

• End continuous suction from theliquid container.

• Remove clogging material fromthe suction nozzle, suction pipe,Power Filter Clean, suction hose,or surface filter.

• Change the surface filter.
