What is Title I?Title I is a federal grant that:

provides supplemental funds to school districts to assist schools with high concentrations of poverty to meet educational goals;

assists with building capacity of parents and teachers; and

encourages parents to be involved in their children’s education.

Title I Funding Districts allocate Title I funds to qualifying schools based

on the number of students eligible to receive free/reduced price meals.

Title I must supplement, not supplant district funds.

A specified amount of the Title I grant must be spent on family engagement and professional development.

Parents have the right to give input regarding how the school will use its Title I funds.

Who decides how funds are used? Your administrative team considers data and feedback

collected throughout the school year to build their school budget

Every school has a School Advisory Council (SAC) composed of: parents, teachers, staff, community members, principal and

students (at middle and high schools).

The School Advisory Council helps determine how to use Title I funds. Please consider joining!

Use of Title I funds must align with the goals of the School Improvement Plan (SIP) and School-wide Plan (SWP) for Title I.Copies of these documents are available for review in

Title I ProgramsAll Title I public schools in Brevard are schoolwide

programs, meaning Title I funds, along with other local-, state- and federal funding sources are used to support all students in the school.

The primary focus of the Title I program is to support the students most at-risk for academic failure.

All staff, resources, and classes are part of the overall, schoolwide program.

Use of Title I Funds

Endeavour Elementary is provided with $ 496,248 to pay for services and programs for our students.

School-based Title I funds pay for the following: Reading Coach Math Coach Science Coach Title I Coordinator/Parent Involvement Coordinator/iReady Lab Manager Literacy Interventionist 4 Instructional Assistants for Reading and Math Technology (computers, laptops, virtual reality goggles, etc.) Instructional software (iReady) Instructional materials Classroom supplies Parent Resource materials to use at home

School Grade InformationEndeavour Elementary remained a “D” for the 2017-18 school

year. Our 2017-18 FSA Scores showed we had a decrease in the percentage of students scoring at a level 3 or higher in reading (27% in 2016-17 and 25% 2017-18). Our Reading FSA scores also showed that we had a decrease in the number of students that showed learning gains (42% in 2016-17 and 37% in 2017-18).The learning gains made by the lowest 25% of our students showed noimprovement from last year (37% in 2016-17 and 37% in 2017-18)

What are we doing to improve? An external educational company will be joining Endeavour to help us improve. Continue reading intervention for grades 1-6 using the Leveled Literacy Intervention

(PFEP) Each Title I school must jointly develop, agree upon, and

distribute to parents a written Parent and Family Engagement Plan (PFEP).

The Parent and Family Engagement Plan (PFEP) describes how the school will carry out parent involvement requirements, including the development of a School-Parent Compact.

2017-18 Parent Survey Results We had a total of 246 surveys returned (194 English and

52 Spanish) Only 30% of our parents participated…let’s improve

that this year

We had the most participation in from 3rd grade and PreKparents

Here are some survey results:Parents would like Family Fun Nights, workshops on how to help with reading, math, and homework.Parent workshops to be held in the evenings, after 6:00, and on Tuesday’sChildcare would help more parents attend after school workshops. Parents would like resources to us at home to help their children with reading and math. (Parent Resource Center)Bullying is an issue.Parents want more homework sent home.

District and School-based Title I Parent Involvement Programs in Brevard County will strive to BUILD RELATIONSHIPS in order to create real family engagement for every child, every family, every teacher, every day.

This compact outlines how the parents, the entire school staff, and the students will share the responsibility for improved student academic achievement.

• I will request a conference with the teacher if my child is having difficulties in any areas

Parents’ Right to Know Parents have the right to request and receive timely

information regarding the professional qualifications oftheir child’s teachers and paraprofessionals.

Parents must be notified if their child is assigned to ortaught for four or more consecutive weeks by a teacherwho is not highly qualified.
