莊子: 知 魚 之 樂Zhuangzi: Knowing fish ‘s happiness.

莊子 與 惠子 遊 於 濠 梁 之 上。 莊子 曰:Zhuangzi and Huizi strolling at Hao (river in Anhui) bridge ‘s on-top. Zhuangzi said:「鯈 魚 出 遊 從容, 是 魚 之 樂 也。」“Minnow-fish out travelling leisurely, this fish ‘s happiness is.”

惠子曰: 「子 非 魚,安 知 魚 之 樂?」Huizi said: “You are not fish, how know fish ‘s happiness?” 莊子 曰: 「子 非 我,安 知 我不 知 魚 之 樂?」Zhuangzi said: “You are not me, how know I not know fish ‘s happiness?

惠子曰: 「我 非 子,固 不 知 子 矣;Huizi said: “I am not you, surely not know you ! [but]子 固 非 魚 也, 子之 不 知 魚之 樂, 全 矣。」You surely not fish are, [fact of] your not knowing fish ‘s happiness, complete !

莊子 曰︰「請 循 其 本。 子 曰 『汝 安 知 魚 樂』Zhuangzi said: “Please return to its basics. You said ‘you how know fish happy’ ;云 者, 既 已 知 吾 知 之 而 問 我,saying [fact of], so already knew I knew it and asked me,我知 之 濠 上 也。」I know it [by means of being] Hao [river] on is.
