Following significant investment, a fleet of specially equipped mobile training units can train your staff at your premises safely, effectively, and with minimum down time.

All that you need to provide is a meeting room and a safe, designated external area (approx the size of four vehicle parking spaces), and we will take care of the rest.

This brochure contains details of the range of training that can be delivered at your premises, including recognised qualifications from Chartered Institute of Environmental Health (CIEH) training.

Bespoke Training Courses

If your Fire Risk Assessment details specific matters relating to your premises activities, generic instructions will not be good enough – as it is vital that all relevant persons are suitably trained as to what to do in the event of a fire.

Bespoke fire safety training for industrial and commercial premises, care homes, schools, hospitals, hotels, nightclubs, automotive, are just a small selection of what is possible.

CIEH Level 1 Award in Fire Safety Awareness – Half Day CourseOFQUAL accredited course (requiring a minimum 60% pass mark)

A. An introduction to fire safety and what to do in the event of an emergency. Candidates should develop general knowledge and understanding of fire safety in the workplace and be able to: • State the main causes and effects of fires in the workplace and outline the main costs of fires to society. • State their duties and responsibilities and those to fire wardens on a day-to-day basis and in an emergency. • State the fire safety procedures applicable to their own role and the roles of others. • Describe the action to be taken in the event of a fire in the workplace, raising the alarm and contacting the emergency services. • Outline fire prevention measures that they can take to minimize fire risks…

B. Fire risk control Candidates should develop a foundation of knowledge of the risk controls associated with fire in the workplace and be able to:

• Identify the key elements for effective fire risk management in the workplace, including fire risk assessment. • Understand the fire triangle and identify sources of ignition, fuel and oxygen, and how these are controlled. • Identify active and passive fire risk control measures, including fire and smoke warning devices, manual calling points, compartmentation, emergency lighting, fire safety signs and means of escape. • Identify fire incidents and report fire safety issues to their line manager.

C. Practical fire safety Candidates should develop knowledge of the main types of fire safety equipment and be able to: • State the safe operating parameters for the use of portable fire-fighting equipment. • Undertake a simple check to ensure that fire safety equipment is serviceable and safe to use.

CIEH Level 2 Award in Fire Safety Principles (Fire Warden) – One Day Course

OFQUAL accredited course (requiring a minimum 60% pass mark)

A. Understanding fire risk and fire risk controls Candidates should develop knowledge and understanding of fire risk and control and be able to: • Explain how fires are caused in the workplace; understand the fire triangle that may be found in the workplace. • Identify the hazards during or after a fire, including the products of combustion. • Describe the characteristics of fire and smoke spread. • State the different methods used to identify and control fire hazards and identify relevant limiting factors. • Define the term ‘means of escape’ and identify typical components, including the principle of compartmentation. • Describe methods of fire detection and raising the alarm. • Describe how fires are extinguished and the safe operating parameters and use of portable fire-fighting equipment. • Identify common fixed fire-fighting systems and their operation.

B. Principles and practice of fire safety Candidates should develop knowledge and understanding for the principles and practice of fire safety and be able to: • Outline the main legislation in the UK for the management of fire safety in the workplace and key terminology used. • Outline the legal duties of an employer and an employee with respect to fire safety in the workplace. • Describe the stages involved in a fire risk assessment. • Understand how to undertake a simple fire safety inspection of their workplace to an acceptable level.

C. The role of the fire warden Candidates should develop knowledge and understanding of the role of the nominated fire warden and be able to: • State the role and function of the fire warden in their workplace: 1. On a day-to-day basis- to include checking fire risk controls that remain active. 2. During an emergency- to include how to raise the alarm, contact the emergency services and what they should do in order to protect themselves and others in the area for which they have responsibility. 3. What to do if they are not in their designated areas of responsibility when the alarm is raised.

• Provide an introduction briefing for new employees in their area of responsibility to ensure that those people know: 1. How to raise the alarm and what action they should take. 2. Where the fire exits and fire safety features are located in their workplace.

CIEH Level 3 Award in Fire Risk Assessment and Control – Four Day Course

OFQUAL accredited course (requiring 60% pass mark)

This course is designed for those with a key role in managing health and safety. Those persons designated or in the delegated role of the “Responsible Person” will benefit directly from this OFQUAL accredited course. The substantial four day program delivers practical risk assessment exercises and establishes a sound knowledge basis for legal compliance when carrying out risk assessment.

Fire Risk Assessment Training – One Day Course

An introductory course for Managers with responsibility for fire safety implementation designed to enablethe delegates to conduct fire risk assessments in the workplace to comply with Fire Safety Legislation.This course delivers a Royal Berkshire Fire and Safety Training Ltd attendance certificate. Fire Warden 1.0 – One Day Course

This course delivers both an accredited qualification, CIEH Level 2 Fire Safety Principles award and a Royal Berkshire Fire and Safety Training Ltd attendance certificate for those persons who have responsibilities as Fire Wardens or Fire Marshalls. This course contains interactive classroom exercisesand involvement in practical demonstrations. Completion of this course meets the mandatory requirements of the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005 and additionally qualifies for a RoyalBerkshire Fire and Safety Training Ltd attendance certificate. Fire Warden 0.5 – Half Day Course

This course delivers a Royal Berkshire Fire and Safety Training Ltd attendance certificate for those persons who have responsibilities as Fire Wardens or Fire Marshalls. This course includes practicaldemonstrations. Completion of this course meets the mandatory requirements of the Regulatory Reform(Fire Safety) Order 2005. Fire Warden Refresher – Half Day Course

This course delivers a Royal Berkshire Fire and Safety Training Ltd attendance certificate for those persons who have responsibilities as Fire Wardens or Fire Marshalls and have an existing qualification or certificate. This course includes extended practical demonstrations dependant upon the venue andequipment availability. Completion of this course meets the mandatory requirements of the RegulatoryReform (Fire Safety) Order 2005. (see also CIEH accredited Fire Safety Courses)

Fire Extinguisher Training – Half Day Course

This course delivers a Royal Berkshire Fire and Safety Training Ltd attendance certificate for any personwho may need to use extinguishers in the event of fire. The course integrates with the Royal Berkshire Fireand Safety Training Ltd half-day fire warden courses, includes training on selection and hands on practical experience in the use of extinguishers. Completion of this course will also provide delegates with themandatory requirements of the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005 to act as the Fire Marshall.(see also CIEH Fire Safety Courses)

Emergency First Aid at Work (HSE Approved) – One day course

UK health and safety legislation requires employers to train first aid in the workplace. This course deliversthe basic HSE course, which is an accredited qualification. For clarity, this course supersedes and replacesthe previous appointed person requirements. The resulting qualification is valid for three years but is subject to continued assessment.

Manual Handling – Half Day Course

Health and safety at work training helps to prevent serious injury in the work place. This course introducesthe basic requirements to raise staff awareness and simple precautions that can assist in the prevention of musculo-skeletal disorders (MSD).
