Riders, Spring is finally here and we have had several oppor-
tunities to ride so let’s continue with our plans for the great
summer that is coming! April brings us the Teddy Bear Run
on the 2nd to Bowling Green and on the 9th we have our Texas Hold-em Poker tour-
nament to raise money for the DAV Benevolent Fund and that money will go direct-
ly to support Veterans in need. Hopefully we’ll have a good turnout for both of
these events. We are planning a ride for “Hands are for Helping” on the 16th so
watch for information on that event. On the 23rd we will have our safety day and
Kick Start Party that had to be moved because of weather and our monthly meeting
on the 28th. The next big Legion event is Spring Conference in Florence KY on the
15th to the 17th and some may ride up for that event. As plans are developed we will
let everyone know. That is it for planned rides for April but, hopefully, we can get
in some retiree rides through the week and everyone should be able to dust off the
winter from their bikes and get some much anticipated wind therapy.
The next thing that we all should be doing is reviewing the ride schedule
and planning which of the rides that we would like to make for the upcoming sum-
mer months. We have a good ride schedule but remember, if you have any more
ideas or just want to do a ride at the last moment just let us know and we’ll see if we
can get some of our members to accompany you to help make it a better memory.
Please think about the various jobs that we need done. Step up to the plate and run
for one of our officer positions and help us all do a better job of planning rides and
operating this Chapter for the good of everyone. Elections are in May this year as
usual and that meeting will be on the 19th so everybody planning Memorial Day
rides/activities can have input to our election process before they leave for the long
weekend.
Check out our webpage at (http://alrelizabethtownky.shivtr.com/) and our
Facebook page. Don’t miss any information relevant to our riding season. We may
be trying out a new application for our smart phones, “Team Snap”. If it works as
well as everyone envisions it will replace our webpage which does not see much ac-
tivity anyway. However, our Facebook page will remain active.

Chaplains Corner Gratitude and Thanksgiving
Rejoice always, pray without ceasing, in everything give thanks; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you. I Thessalonians 5:16 God notices the grateful heart! Does God have an ego problem? No. But we do. Gratitude lifts our eyes off the things we lack, so we can see the blessings we possess. Nothing blows the winter out of the day like a Caribbean breeze of thankfulness. If you look long enough and hard enough, you’ll find something to belly-ache about. So quit looking! Take your eyes off the weeds. Collect your blessings. I Thessalonians 5:16 says “Always be joyful. Pray continually, and give thanks—whatever hap-pens. That’s what God wants for you in Christ Jesus.” Gratitude is always an op-tion. Make it your default emotion and you’ll find yourself giving thanks for the problems of life. Im-possible you say? How do you know? How do you know until you give every day a chance! .
Please remember our legion family in prayer: Family of Henry Barnes
Please feel free to contact Post 113 Chaplain Bill, for prayer needs and also to share our legion blessings.

The American legion was founded on four pillars: Veterans Affairs & Rehabilitation, National Security, Americanism, and Children & Youth. Each of these pillars encompasses a variety of programs that benefit our nation’s veterans, its service members, their families, the youth of America and our local community. These programs make a differencein hundreds of thousands of lives each year.
These programs, and the men and women who take the time to perform them, are what allow The American Legion to make a difference locally, and at the state and national levels. The net proceeds from this tournament help support these programs.
