It’s nota one sided relationship. Theynever work. Just because youcan’t physically touch Him,doesn’t mean He’s not real.Have faith. The only way tohave faith is to grow with Je-sus. WHAT DOES EASTER MEAN TO YOUANDYOUR

FAMILY?

Easter for me as a child was candy, hiding eggs, all thefamily gathering, lots of good food, coloring eggs, pick-led eggs and opening the front door to see that the EasterBunny had left me a basket. Wow! Now that was funtimes. I also would walk down the railroad track to go tochurch to learn about Easter in my pretty little dress. Itwas all fun to me. I was just a young child and only knewwhat I was taught or what I caught. Easter is about all ofthis and more.

Let’s be honest. How do we prioritize when it comes toEaster and our children? Just as I did when I wrote abouthow I remembered Easter as a child. The priority shouldbe learning about how Jesus died for our sins and roseagain. And then about the candy, food, baskets and funactivities. We, as humans, are easily wrapped up in the“trend” of the world and forget about what the bible says.I am guilty of it. We ALL are. Doing what the world saysto do won’t get us into heaven. I can promise you that.

Our world is a messed up world because of the trendshumans try to follow. I don’t know about you, but I don’twant to ever die. This old body will die and my spirit willremain because I am going to follow Jesus and what thebible says to do. I will have eternal life. That should beenough in it’s self to leave the world behind and dowhat’s right. I sometimes feel scared when I think ofdeath, but then I think about who I serve and what I ampromised if I serve him. Wow! What a great trade. Eter-nal life if you try to walk in the footsteps of Jesus. I willraise my hand to that! I know we are not perfect and willnever be. That’s OK. But remember Jesus died for oursins and rose again.

So, back to Easter and Jesus. Behind the festive joys, feast, fun and family enjoyment, Easter reminds all of usabout a significant event. The event that Jesus Christ wasresurrected, after having suffered and died. It reminds us

HAPPY EASTER!

Luke 24:5-7King James Version (KJV)5 And as they were afraid, andbowed down their faces to the earth, they said unto them, Why seek yethe living among the dead?

6 He is not here, but is risen: remem-ber how he spake unto you when hewas yet in Galilee,

7 Saying, The Son of man must bedelivered into the hands of sinfulmen, and be crucified, and the thirdday rise again.

that Christ, who was crucified on, what is now called, theGood Friday, showed himself up on the Easter. So, it is atime to celebrate.

To celebrate that the Lord, who appeared on Earth for thegood of mankind, is always with us. That Jesus wouldresurrect was foretold. The saying came as one of hisprophecies. And, with memories sharpened by hatred, hisenemies were the first to remember his prophesies. Hardlyhad he been buried when they had approached the RomanGovernor Pontius Pilate with a request to guard the tomb.Pilate gave them soldiers and instructed them to secure thetomb. They went, sealed the stone that closed the entrance, and set the guards to keep watch day and night.

During the night of Friday, the day of his Crucifixion, through Sunday, nothing really happened. Then thingsturned differently on the early morning of the Sunday, thethird day since Jesus was crucified. There was a greatuproar and the guards were all struck by lighting, for anangel of the Lord descended from heaven and came androlled back the stone and sat upon it. His face shinning like

lighting and his garments white as snow. At this sight thesolider's trembled with fear and remained as dead men. When they came to their senses there was no point inwatching over an empty tomb any longer. They went toreport to the chief priest about the incident. In reply theywere ask to distort the truth and spread a story that the bodyof Jesus was stolen by his own disciples when the guardswere asleep during the night.

Meanwhile, early on the following morning, that was Sun-day morning, some holy women started for the tomb. Theywere surprised to see that the stone had been moved aside. They entered the tomb and found it empty. As they won-dered what all this meant, two angels appeared. The angelstold them that Jesus had risen again.

Soon Peter, the chief of Jesus’ twelve apostles got therealong with John, his junior. They found only the linen andthe piece of cloth used to wrap body lied in the empty tomb.Puzzled, they left. But Jesus was yet to appear in front ofthem.

MEANING OF EASTER continued...

Instead, Jesus went farther. He turned up to join two ofhis disciples who were journeying from Jerusalem to avillage called Emmaus. However, Jesus did not makehimself known to them. Jesus to them came to beknown as a stranger who had real mastery over theholy Scriptures. Impressed, they invited Jesus to staywith them and share their meal. Jesus agreed. At thetable they recognized Jesus; he disappeared.

In no time the two disciples headed for Jerusalem. When they met the apostles and told them about every-thing happened, Jesus made his appearance. And Jesusconvinced them all that he was alive and asked them ifanything was there to eat. Then he ate in their presenceas a living man does. With this everybody there be-came overwhelmed with joy that their master hadreturned to life. And life again had become meaningfulto the apostles.

Jesus had eaten with them. He talked to them in afamiliar manner and reminded them that he had comefrom heaven, sent by his Father to perform a task. Now, the task had been done by offering his life for thesins of mankind, it is time for the apostles to follow hissuit. Jesus gave the apostles the Holy Spirit: the powerover sin. So one whose sins are forgiven by the apos-tles, would be forgiven by the heaven. After this Jesusleft, as suddenly as he came in.

Jesus returned to the same place on the next Sunday,to make the unbelievers believe. Jesus showed himselfto teach his apostles the lessons and to teach them tolive without him. Jesus did this for a period of fortydays.

On the fortieth day of reappearance, when he felt hehad given the disciples all that he had to, he went backto the heaven. This same Jesus will come back just thesame way He has left. He had left his disciples to carryon his work and to reach his message of love and peaceto all.

God will help you be all you can be, but he will neverlet you be successful at becoming someone else.

GenerosityProverbs 11:25 A generous man will prosper; he who refreshes others will himself be refreshed. Being gener-ous could men several different things, not just giving money. Many people sadly mistaken the word generosity.Have you helped your neighbor or just simply helped an elderly person pick something up he or she dropped? Whatabout opened the door for someone that had their hands full? Generosity comes in many forms. Hugging someoneis being generous with your love. Generosity is the habit of giving without expecting anything in return. It can in-volve offering time, assets or talents to aid someone in need. Often equated with charity as a virtue, generosity iswidely accepted in society as a desirable trait. In times of natural disaster, relief efforts are frequently provided, voluntarily by individuals or groups acting unilat-erally in making gifts of time, resources, goods, money, etc. Generosity is a guiding principle for many registeredcharities, foundations and non-profit organizations. Generosity can also be spending time, money, or labor for oth-ers without being rewarded in return. Remember it is always better to give than receive.Although the term generosity often goes hand-in-hand with charity, many people in the public's eye want recogni-tion for their good deeds. Donations are needed to support organizations and committees. However, generosityshould not be limited to times of great need such as natural disasters and extreme situations.Generosity is not solely based on one's economic status, but instead should include the individual's pure intentionsof looking out for society's common good and giving from the heart. Generosity should reflect the individual's pas-sion to help others.

CHILDREN LEARN WHAT THEY LIVEby Dorothy L. Nolte

“If children live with criticism, they learn to condemn. If children live with hostility, they learn to fight. If children live with fear, they learn to apprehensive. If children livewith pity, they learn to feel sorry for themselves. If children live with ridicule, they learn tobe shy. If children live with jealousy, they learn what envy is. If children live with shame, they learn to feel guilty. If children live with tolerance, they learn to be patient. If childrenlive with encouragement, they learn to be confident. If children live with praise, they learnto appreciate. If children live with approval, they learn to be themselves. If children livewith acceptance, they learn to find love in the world. If children live with recognition, theylearn to have a goal. If children live with sharing, they learn to be generous. If children livewith honesty and fairness, they learn what truth and justice are. If children live withsecurity, they learn to have faith in themselves and in those around them. IN THE MIDST OF TROUBLEThough I walk in the midst of trouble, thou wilt revive me: thou shalt stretch forththine hand against the wrath of mine enemies, and thy right hand shall save me.PSALM 138:7

We all seem to be walking in the midst of trouble these days, Lord. Suddenlywe have enemies we never knew were enemies, people who prefer deception andviolence to diplomacy. We do not understand them, they misunderstand us. Weare a hurt nation, an angry nation struggling to maintain its values while stilldealing firmly with those who hate us. Guide our nation’s leaders during thesedifficult times, we pray. Keep our sons and daughters safe in Your arms. THE FREEDOM CHURCH

THE GIFT OF LIFEby Anita Dwyer

The year was 1999. I was about to grad-uate from UNC- Chapel Hill and wasready to save the world! I had justjoined the Peace Corps and was set togo! Africa here I come! I was so ready,so willing to give of myself to the worldand do what I had always loved most-help others and my dream was comingtrue- to feed the hungry in Africa.

But wait….The phone just rang at myparents’ house in the small town ofRandleman, NC. My father had been onthe waiting list for a heart transplant forquite some time. He had cardiomyopa-thy and a transplant was inevitable.Low and behold, they had a heart for mydad. The date is forever etched in everyheart in our family….November 22,1999. They took him in on November21, 1999, and shortly after midnight, on11/22/99, my father received the gift oflife. I wasn’t going in the Peace CorpsJ.Something better had happened- my fa-ther had been given back his life. Icouldn’t leave, not just yet, maybe notever. I had been given back time withmy dad- my dad, a loving husband, afather to 5 daughters, and a lifelong pas-tor.

To this date, my father is a SURVIVOR.He is a 13 year heart transplant recipi-ent, which is quite the miracle. Everyday we celebrate his life and are thank-ful for one more day with him. The dayhe received his heart transformed mylife. My dad was at my wedding onSeptember 16, 2001, walked me downthe aisle, and he even married us! Inever thought he would be at my wed-

ding, marry me, or dance with me at myreception, which he did! Two years lat-er, he was at the hospital, and in the nextroom when I gave birth to my daughter.I never thought he would see that dayeither. He has been there to see hergrow and to be a part of each of hischildren’s and grandchildren’s life.

My dad received the gift of life and hasbeen at so many of my life’s events, thanks to the unselfish gift of our donor. We are really good friends with the do-nor family, and we treasure the gift thatour angel “Paul” gave to my dad. Hisdecision changed our life.

Yeah, I never got to go in the PeaceCorps…..I ended up meeting my hus-band, falling in love, and the rest ishistory…. Maybe one dayJ. I wouldn’ttrade that choice for anything…hearingmy dad’s voice on the other line is adream come true too. ~Anita Dwyer

Just on a side note for those who arenot donors. Think about this story andwhat it did, not just for her dad, butchildren, wife, grandchildren, the folksat the church and many more people.Look at what 1 gift can do. It saved morethan one. Be a donor. If you don’t knowhow or what to do, just ask. You arewelcome to call us or email us here atTime Wisely Magazine for referenceson giving life. God Bless!

Do You FeelLike You Are

Going InCircles?

Do you want to spend your wholelife not knowing what God wantsyou to do? We are supposed to livefor Him. When you are working forGod you experience peace and joy.Nobody ever said life was easy. Lifeis a challenge and full of ups anddowns. Who am I kidding, it’s aroller coaster! You are not the onlyone who may feel this way. Mostpeople only see what’s on the out-side. Don’t be fooled by the coverof the book.

If your life is like a roller coasterand you feel like you are going incircles, stop and develop a relation-ship with God? Would you like foryour life to be easier and less stress-ful? Of course, of course! Whowouldn’t want life to be easier andhave some purpose and direction?

So, it goes like this: God has a planfor all of us. The majority of uswon’t and don’t develop a strongrelationship with God. It takes timeand obedience. I would say it’s justlike any other relationship, butthat’s not true. A relationship withGod is unique and He has high ex-pectations. It does not mean youhave to be perfect before you candevelop a relationship with God.Just be you and seek God. He willhelp guide you and show you “yourpurpose.” So, stop going in circlesand listen to God. Find your pur-pose and have peace and joy.

Praying is a great way to start. Talkto God. He may not answer rightaway, but he will on his time. Be

patient. Be obedient when He doestalk. Read or listen to the bible.Gain knowledge. It’s all aboutchoices. It’s up to you. Nobody willmake you do anything but you. Afresh start would be great dependingon were you are in your life. I had afresh start at age 34. Life is great butnot easy. God never said it would beeasy. I have made it a point to dowhat God says.

If you pass by your bible and Godsays open it up and read, thenREAD. If you are walking and Godsays, “say Jesus loves you” to theperson you just walked by, then goback and say Jesus loves you. IfGod says go to church there is amessage for you, go to church. Beobedient. God is your strength. Asyou develop your relationship withGod, your faith in Him will growstronger. You will have less worriesand learn to lay your burdens uponHim. Your fear will start to disap-pear. You will have direction. “When you are tempted to give up, your breakthrough is probably just around the corner.”

At some point in the various journeys we embark on in our lives, we get to a partwhere we feel like giving up. Sometimes we give up before we even start andother times we give up just before we are about to make that huge break throughthat we have been putting so much effort in to achieve. I have created this list of21 reasons why you should never give up and I hope that you will find it beforeyou give up, so that I can inspire you to keep going!1- As Long As You Are Alive Anything Is PossibleThe only valid excuse you have to give up is if you are dead. As long as you arealive (and healthy and free) you have the choice to keep trying until you finallysucceed.2- Be RealisticThe chance of mastering something the first time you do it is almost non-existent. Everything takes time to learn and you will make mistakes. Learn fromthem.3- Michael JordanArguably the best basketball player of all time. He attributes his success to allhis failures. He just never gave up even when he knew he had missed over 300shots and had missed the winning shot of the game many times. Every time hegot knocked down he got back up again.

Envy is best defined as a re-sentful emotion that "occurswhen a person lacks another's(perceived) superior quality, achievement or possessionand wishes that the otherlacked it."

A great analogy that a formersuperior taught me was theold crab pot trick. If you haveever put a bunch of crabs in apot or bucket, you may havenoticed that the one crab thatwould climb to the top wouldalways be pulled back down.It never fails. Unfortunately, this is reality for humans. Notall, but most. I am not thatway. I always want people tobe successful and reach theirgoals...even if they do it bet-ter or have more than me. It’sgreat to set goals according towhat you want and need, butkeep the envy out of theequation. Envy is sinful andwill only bring you down. Itwill not help you get whereand what you need and want.

Often, envy involves a mo-tive to "outdo or undo therival's advantages". In part, this type of envy may bebased on materialistic posses-sions rather than psychologi-cal states. Basically, peoplefind themselves experiencingan overwhelming emotiondue to someone else owningor possessing desirable itemsthat they do not.

I have come to realize that theonly person that really mat-ters is Jesus. As long as I ampleasing to him, I am good. Iwant to grow and do the rightthing, for the right reasons.

Isaiah 26:11Lord, when thy hand is lifted up, they will not see: but theyshall see, and be ashamed for their envy at the people; yea,the fire of thy enemies shall devour them.

Proverbs 27:4Wrath is cruel, and anger is outrageous; but who is able tostand before envy?

Proverbs 14:30A sound heart is the life of the flesh: but envy the rottennessof the bones.

Job 5:2For wrath killeth the foolish man, and envy slayeth the sillyone.

It is an idiomatic phrase meaning thatone should not focus all his or herresources on one hope, possibility oravenue of success or just one person. Ifthat one person fails you then you willbe "broken" and left with nothing/noeggs. It is a proverb that warns againstpinning all your hopes on one course ofaction. If you put all your eggs in onebasket and then drop the basket, youwill break all your eggs. Similarly, ifyou pin all your hopes on one course ofaction and it fails, then you are left withno recourse.

If you put all of your eggs in one basketwhen you are ready to sell them, then ifanything happens to the basket, all theeggs will be gone. Therefore, it is bestto put the eggs into several differentbaskets for safekeeping - or, best to putyour money or time or investment intoseveral different things.

If the eggs are in two or more baskets, even if one basket breaks, you can stillmake it home with eggs or your chil-dren.

The idea is to spread your risk acrossseveral non-related areas. That way, ifone of those areas turns sour , it doesn'tresult in a you losing everything; youcan keep going with your remaininginvestments.

It means to concentrate your bets, put-ting yourself in line for either a hugepayoff or big losses. If you put "allyour money in one wallet," yourmoney is either completely safe fromtheft, or it's all gone because someonefound and stole it.

This also goes for many things beyondmoney. It could mean a job or even afriend. The only time you should “put

Putting all your eggs in one basket means in most cases:investing all of your resource or money into one thing. The comparison is that if you put all of your eggs into onebasket and something happens to the basket such as youdropping it, all of your eggs break and you have nothingleft compared to distributing your eggs into two or morebaskets. So if something happens to the one, you still haveyour others eggs. If you invest all of your money into onecompany and the company fails, you have lost all of yourmoney.

If you put all your eggs in one basket, you risk everythingon a single opportunity which, like eggs breaking, couldgo wrong.

It means putting all of ones hopes into one outcome.Example sentences: He tried out for both the football teamand the cross country team, that way he didn't have all hiseggs in one basket. My heart is set on going to Weslyncollege, but I applied to four different schools to avoidhaving all my eggs in one basket. If Weslyn doesn't workout, I'm sure to attend college someplace else.

Spread you assets or eggs or anything else of value. Thenyou have a few baskets, if you drop one its not so impor-tant. If all the eggs were in one basket, think what mighthappen if that basket were to somehow fall away orotherwise break. Don’t set yourself up for heartache.

all your eggs in one basket” is with Jesus. You will neverneed a plan B. Plan B is a backup plan. Sometimes, depending on the situation, you can’t always have plan B.For example, when buying a house. That is a big deal andmost people only have one without plan B.

ATTENTION ALL SALES PEOPLE! Do you have agroup of clients that are your most profitable clients? Iknow a gentleman who used to sell a product to DicksSporting Goods. He had other clients like Walmart, BestBuy, Chilis, Kmart, McDonalds and the list goes on.

However, Dicks Sporting Goods was really hot and buy-ing lots of product and this particular sales person decidednot to work with the other corporations because his eggswere all in the one basket that was buying. Noticed I saidwas. The salesperson proceeded to make lots of moneyfrom Dicks and forgot about the rest. That’s easy to do.The owner of the company he worked with always saidnever put “all your eggs in one basket. Spread it out andchose different companies.”

Unfortunately, that particular sales person did not listenand Dicks stopped buying. Getting a new client to buytakes up to 3 weeks. Because he had all his eggs in onebasket (company), he had to basically start over again ata company he had worked at for over a two years.Diversify! Save yourself from disappointment.

If you ever feel likethings are difficult, imagine what it would be like to run240km in 2 days.7- Chris Gardner – The Pursuit of HappinessHave you seen the movie “The Pursuit of Happiness”? Itis based on the life story of Chris Gardener, a man whowent for the lowest of the lows in an environment wheremost people would give up (no money, no job) to thehighest of the highs (A millionaire with his own invest-ment firm). If you ever think about giving up, watch thismovie!8- Kanye WestI’m pretty sure you have heard of the rapper Kanye West.Read his story. Page 19: Time Wisely Magazine Spring Edition 2013

Once upon a time there was a little boy who was talented, creative, handsome, and extremely bright. A naturalleader. The kind of person everyone would normallyhave wanted on their team or project. But he was alsoself-centered and had a very bad temper. When he gotangry, he usually said, and often did, some very hurtfulthings. In fact, he seemed to have little regard for thosearound him. Even friends. So, naturally, he had few.“But,” he told himself, “that just shows how stupid mostpeople are!”

As he grew, his parents became concerned about thispersonality flaw, and pondered long and hard about whatthey should do. Finally, the father had an idea. And hestruck a bargain with his son. He gave him a bag of nails, and a BIG hammer. “Whenever you lose your temper,”he told the boy, “I want you to really let it out. Just takea nail and drive it into the oak boards of that old fenceout back. Hit that nail as hard as you can!”

Of course, those weathered oak boards in that old fencewere almost as tough as iron, and the hammer wasmighty heavy, so it wasn’t nearly as easy as it firstsounded. Nevertheless, by the end of the first day, theboy had driven 37 nails into the fence (That was oneangry young man!). Gradually, over a period of weeks, the number dwindled down. Holding his temper provedto be easier than driving nails into the fence! Finally theday came when the boy didn’t lose his temper at all. Hefelt mighty proud as he told his parents about thataccomplishment. “As a sign of your success,” his fatherresponded, “you get to PULL OUT one nail. In fact, youcan do that each day that you don’t lose your temper evenonce.”

Well, many weeks passed. Finally one day the young boywas able to report proudly that all the nails were gone.At that point, the father asked his son to walk out backwith him and take one more good look at the fence. “Youhave done well, my son,” he said. “But I want you tonotice the holes that are left. No matter what happensfrom now on, this fence will never be the same. Saying ordoing hurtful things in anger produces the same kind ofresult. There will always be a scar. It won’t matter howmany times you say you’re sorry, or how many yearspass, the scar will still be there. And a verbal wound isas bad as a physical one. People are much more valuablethan an old fence. They make us smile. They help ussucceed. Some will even become friends who share ourjoys, and support us through bad times. And, if they trustus, they will also open their hearts to us. That means we

SCARSneed to treat everyone with love and respect. We needto prevent as many of those scars as we can.”

A most valuable lesson, don’t you think? And areminder most of us need from time to time.Everyone gets angry occasionally. The real test iswhat we DO with it. If we are wise, we will spend ourtime building bridges rather than barriers in ourrelationships.~Author Unknown

Sometimes do you get very angry and fedup with people or the way they do things?Well, I can say I feel that way sometimestoo. I get so caught up in my emotionsand being outraged, I forget to do theright thing. PRAY! Bad mouthing theperson you are mad at will never help thesituation. In the end it doesn’t matterwho’s right or wrong in your eyes, onlyin God’s eyes. Staying angry won’t helpeither. Sometimes I find it hard to praywhen I am upset. It’s really important tolet things go that bother you, so you canhave more room for the things that makeyou happy. You are what you dwell on. Iam going to chose to trust and have faithin Jesus. Jesus is who I will dwell on andwith. It’s all about choices. Will youmake the right decision? Pray first, act second.

REMEMBER TO PRAY

When I rededicated my life to the Lord I had to cut ties withmany people who I considered friends. For many of them, the reasons were obvious. Some key players, the reasonswere not so obvious. I spent many days and nights, weeksand months questioning why God would leave me here onthis earth without any "friends". I knew He was alwayswith me and was teaching me that many people who Icalled "friend" were really not. He was teaching me to trustHim and to depend on Him to be my friend who stickscloser than a brother. He was also teaching me to lovebetter and be a better friend to others. I was assured that Hewould eventually bring people into my life who would betrue friends, you know people who encourage and love mefor real. I am so blessed to realize how many of thosefriends I really have now, and I know that He is not doneyet by any means. I am blown away by the number ofphone calls and text messages and FB messages (bothprivate and public) that I received yesterday! Many of yousaid things to me that absolutely moved me to tears, notnecessarily because of your words...it was because of thepure love that I felt from your hearts! I thank God that Ilistened to Him...finally...oh, yes I struggled with the

whole "letting people go" thing. I am sharing this to en-courage someone out there to listen to the Lord when Hemoves you to a different oikos (not the yogurt...it is Greekfor your sphere of influence...your closest peeps!) Let Himnot only change the way you love others, but also to bringthe people to you that He has for you to love!!! I promise, you will be thankful that you did! Thanks again to all ofyou who shared in my special day...but thanks most of allfor your love every day! ~Paula Millsaps

Luke 16:13 "No servantcan serve two masters. Eitherhe will hate the one and lovethe other, or he will be de-voted to the one and despisethe other. You cannot serveboth God and Money."

Many desirable thingsquickly turn me from You. Iadmit I willingly fall far fromYou when worldly toys attractme. Forgive me for placinganything ahead of Your love.

Though deep down I knowthings can never replace You,when money or goods attractme, I don’t usually ponder theexchange I’d be making. Iwant to believe I can have itall. Remind me, Lord, that tobe faithful to You, even mymoney must serve you. Spri-tual things have so much morevalue than the wealth I desire.Make me wholeheartedly de-sire Your will, Jesus, so I can-not serve the wrong master.

Bank Saving Method-WITHOUTTRYINGYes! I said without trying. If you have anyincome (big or little), please listen. First, write down all your bills and the due dates:don’t forget food and gas. Keep it somewhereconvenient.

Open a checking account, if you don’talready have one. Set up automatic drafts forall your bills or bill pay. You have to do thisonline. Take the amount of income andsubtract the bills per week or biweekly(depending on when you get paid). Figure outhow much you have left over, keep 10% ofwhat’s left over and save the rest.

Now to save without trying...open up a sec-ond account. Make sure you have access to itonline. Set up an automatic transfer, weeklyor bi-weekly for the amount you can save, tothe new account you are going to open. Whenyou open the second account, DO NOT getchecks or a checkcard. The only way you canget cash is transfer it back or go to the bank. You don’t have to do anything except theinitial math. Before you know it you willhave money in the bank and an emergencyfund. If you struggle with money, go toDaveRamsey.com. Take some advise fromhim. He rocks!

Don’t let advertisements foolyour brain: price compare first.Did they mark it up before put-ting it on sale? Good question. These advertisers want to getyou emotionally excited andthrow you off your normal buy-ing habits. You get excited and itdoesn’t register in your brain thatyou didn’t do your homeworkbefore buying.

Look for coupons and don’t justbuy something because you havea coupon. Ask yourself if youneed it and is it a really great dealthat you may never see again. Ifthe answer is YES; buy it!

I shop at all the grocery stores. Iwon’t mention the stores, butthere are 2 who mark the pricesup and then put BOGO on it.Most of the time Walmart ischeaper. Do your research. Youwill be surprised at the differ-ence in cost. It’s a smart way tomarket but it’s not smart for theshoppers. Don’t get me wrongthere are some good sales outthere. Please be aware.

Fear, Anxiety and Worry…What does the Bible say?

“I can do everything through him who gives mestrength” (Philippians 4:13)

The apostle Paul found his strength in God, He remindsus that, “I …have …been in prison …frequently, beenflogged …severely, and been exposed to death again andagain. Five times I received from the Jews the fortylashes minus one. Three times I was beaten with rods, once I was stoned, three times I was shipwrecked, Ispent a night and a day in the open sea, I have beenconstantly on the move. I have been in danger fromrivers, in danger from bandits, in danger from my owncountrymen, in danger from Gentiles; in danger in thecity, in danger in the country, in danger at sea; and indanger from false brothers. …I have known hunger andthirst and have often gone without food; I have been coldand naked. …Who is weak, and I do not feel weak? Whois led into sin, and I do not inwardly burn? If I mustboast, I will boast of the things that show my weakness.…I will not boast about myself, except about my weak-nesses. …[God] said to me, ‘My grace is sufficient foryou, for my power is made perfect in weakness.’ There-fore I will boast all the more gladly about my weakness-es, so that Christ’s power may rest on me. That is why,for Christ’s sake, I delight in weaknesses, in insults, inhardships, in persecutions, in difficulties. For when I amweak, then I am strong” (2 Corinthians 11:23-12:10)

“So we say with confidence, ‘The Lord is my helper; Iwill not be afraid. What can man do to me?’” (Hebrews13:6)

The possible causes of anxiety and fear are many:Conflict, health problems, dangerous situations, death, unmet needs, spiritual problems, false be-liefs, etc.

“According to the Bible, there is nothing wrongwith realistically acknowledging and trying to dealwith the identifiable problems of life. To ignoredanger is fooling and wrong. But it is also wrong,as well as unhealthy, to be immobilized by exces-sive worry. Such worry must be committed toprayer to God, who can release us from paralyzingfear or anxiety, and free us to deal realistically withthe needs and welfare both of others and of our-selves.” (Dr. Gary R. Collins, Christian Counsel-ing, p. 66.)

Some general, common sense suggestions forthose weighed down with fear, anxiety or worry…

SIN IN YOUR LIFE - Sometimes fear and anxietyare the result of one’s own sin and guilt. If youhave committed a sin or done anything evil, yourfear and anxiety is probably God and your ownconscience trying to get your attention. You needto repent, confess your sin, seek God’s forgive-ness, and set it right.

SLEEP - Humans generally need 8 or 9 hours ofsleep per day. Sleep deprivation can increase anxi-ety. Get enough rest. If you cannot sleep, you mayneed to seek God’s help and perhaps that of aphysician.

BE MORE REALISTIC - Many people are wor-ried and anxious about events that will never actu-ally will happen to them. Relax. Focus on today.Take life one day at a time.

LISTEN to relaxing, soothing music. There issome great Christian music available that can helpyou focus on God and leave your fears and worriesbehind. It may also help to listen to good Christianspeakers and teachers.

FUN - If at all possible, do something that youenjoy. It is good to get some recreation on a regularbasis. Take a break. Get your mind off your fearsand worries, and have some fun.

TALK to someone. Don’t hold all the anxiety inside. It canbe a big relief to share your fears and worries with some-one else—a friend, relative, pastor or counselor. If fear andanxiety is an ongoing problem in your life, schedule aregular time each week to talk with someone.

TAKE ACTION - If there is something practical and wisethat you can do to alleviate the problem or avoid needlessdanger, take action. Don’t put it off. Procrastination willgenerally raise your anxiety level.

EXERCISE - Medical studies show that exercise can helplower anxiety. If you are healthy enough to exercise, try it.Regular brisk walks, running, swimming or other exercisescan be a real stress reducer.

PROFESSIONAL HELP - There are various organizationswhich provide help for people with anxiety attacks, includ-ing the Midwest Center for Stress and Anxiety(stresscenter.com) which provides self-help. You cansearch for information and assistance on the Web usingkeywords such as: anxiety, panic attacks, agoraphobia. You should be able to find local help by consulting youpastor or physician.

Pastor Tracey Troy & the Victory Village Vision

Pastor Tracey Troy is the founder and senior pastor ofVictory In Jesus Church located in rural southeastern NorthCarolina, at 132 West Main Street in Whiteville. A native ofthe same town, she began her sojourn into ministry at age 17,serving in local and state Christian youth groups, speakingand singing, across Columbus and neighboring counties. Herearliest glimpses at what a preaching ministry was all aboutcame via an informal apprenticeship under a then nationally-known evangelist, Betty Burns. Evangelist Hudson, currently Pastor Betty Burns, and a full-fledged pastor atGreater Revival Temple in Orlando, Florida, became theguiding force and example that eventually steered PastorTroy toward what has become her life’s work. Even today, she introduces and speaks of Pastor Burns as her “spiritualmother.”

Though not yet formally licensed or ordained, her pursuit ofgospel ministry continued throughout college at NorthCarolina Central University in Durham. There she wasintricately involved in campus ministry organizations untilshe graduated. Licensed to preach by Friendship MissionaryBaptist in Whiteville in 1986, the well respected singer andspeaker expanded her evangelism throughout the EasternSeaboard. However, it was in Trenton, NJ, under thementorship of Elder Jerome Wilcox of Grace Cathedral thather preaching ministry blossomed. Often she was entrustedwith the task of filling engagements for him when his busyschedule would not allow. Those opportunities expandedher career as an evangelist that included preaching, teachingand singing engagements throughout the nation and in theCaribbean. Ordained in 2000 by Christian Outreach of thePiedmont, she went forth in full time evangelism for over 25years.

Returning to Whiteville in 1996, the talented teacherinitiated an interdenominational Bible study at Friendshipand later hosted the Bible study in her home. From thesegroups grew conferences for men, women, and youth as wellas frequent 20-car caravan trips to conferences and servicesthroughout the country. Pastor Troy remembers, “Many whocame to those meetings and who took those trips wereunsaved in the beginning, but as a result of them, becamesaved. That is what I am most thankful for.”

In April 2013, Victory in Jesus Church will celebrate its 10th

anniversary. Along the way, services have been held inseveral “temporary locations called ‘tents’.” However, during this same span of time, as a direct result of PastorTroy’s vision, the church acquired 40 acres of land on NCHighway 410, right off US Highway 74 Bypass, near thetown limits of Chadbourn, NC. This will be its permanenthome.

An architect’s rendering in the hallway of thechurch’s current building depicts Pastor Troy’svision in detail. Appropriately named VictoryVillage, the drawing shows several facilities andamenities that Pastor Troy and her congregation arediligently forging into reality. She speaks excitedlyand optimistically about the task she feels that shehas been spiritually appointed to oversee.

“We have purchased approximately 40 acres of landwhere we will develop Victory Village consisting ofa gymnatorium, which can be converted into asanctuary, a site for seminars and workshops, andpossibly a day care center,” Pastor Troy shares. Shecontinues, “This facility will also house all types ofcommunity activities and will be considered ourVictory Works Community Center.”

In her description of Victory Village, she mentions aresidential complex for families in need of housing,

Sports cars and hairpieces.Robbing the cradle and run-ning away. Sure they're cli-che, but if these images leapto mind when you hear thewords "midlife crisis,"you're not alone. The thingabout cliches, though, aremost are based on facts. Inthis case, the facts are stag-gering. More than half of respondents to a recent poll onNotmuch.com, a website produced by Wisconsin PublicRadio, said that the midlife crisis is a "very real, gut-wrenchingly depressing experience that we all gothrough at one time or another." Does this mean that theman in your life is suffering through a crisis of his own?Not necessarily. For the approximately 10% of middleaged adults who go through an age-related midlife cri-sis, the condition is most common ranging from the agesof 40-60. Midlife crises last about 3–10 years in menand 2–5 years in women. A midlife crisis could becaused by aging itself, or aging in combination withchanges, problems, or regrets over: work or career (orlack thereof), spousal relationships (or lack thereof),maturation of children (or lack thereof), aging or deathof parents and physical changes associated with aging.Midlife crises seem to affect men and women different-ly. An American cultural stereotype of a man goingthrough a midlife crisis is that he buys a sports car.Researchers have proposed that the triggers for midlifecrisis differ between men and women, with male midlifecrises more likely to be caused by work issues andfemale crises by personal evaluations of their roles.Even though there are differences between why menand women go through a midlife crisis, the emotionsthey both encounter can be extremely frightening.Dealing with a midlife crisis may take time and energybut it is important to understand that there are manycoping skills that can help as well as lifestyle changesthat can be made earlier in life. It is very important for aperson to explore and share their feelings by eithertrusting a friend or seeing a therapist. A person inmidlife needs to re-evaluate and think of what their lifegoals can be.

Plans for Victory Village also provide space for a mini-mall to include a medical facility. A sports complex isalso planned for the site.

Pastor Troy convincingly offers her motivation for suchan ambitious project stating “a call from God, an assign-ment, a vision for community and regional empower-ment.” The vision directed that such an effort isnecessary to “raise the minds of the people economical-ly, financially, physically, emotionally and most impor-tantly spiritually.”

In response to a question about the location comingavailable by chance, Pastor Troy interrupted with, “Idon’t think anything is by chance. I believe everythingis orchestrated by a divine move of God. I prayed aboutland and that was the land the Lord directed us to. …Ibelieve it’s going to be a regional development thatthrough its excellence will draw people from near andfar.”

Pastor concluded her comments with an explanation ofhow Jesus came to save mankind from sin and degrada-tion and how the term “to save” in Greek is “sozo”which means to rescue or to deliver. She is confidentthat the development of Victory Village will accomplishthe holistic vision of the Bible. She further concludedthat God came to save mankind not only from spiritualsin but from economic wrongdoing, physical wrongdo-ing, and emotional wrongdoing; this holistic project willpromote empowerment in each of those areas.

According to Pastor Troy, construction on the firstphase of Victory Village will hopefully begin by spring2014.

VitaminThe body itself makes vitamin D when it is exposedto the sun. Vitamin D is a group of fat-solublesecosteroids responsible for intestinal absorption ofcalcium and phosphate. In humans, vitamin D isunique because it can be ingested as cholecalciferol(vitamin D3) or ergocalciferol (vitamin D2) andbecause the body can also synthesize it (from choles-terol) when sun exposure is adequate (hence itsnickname, the "sunshine vitamin").

Although vitamin D is commonly called a vitamin,it is not actually an essential dietary vitamin in thestrict sense, as it can be synthesized in adequateamounts by most mammals exposed to sunlight (catsand dogs cannot synthesize vitamin D and mustreceive it in their diet). An organic chemical com-pound (or related set of compounds) is only scientif-ically called a vitamin when it cannot be synthesizedin sufficient quantities by an organism, and must beobtained from their diet. However, as with othercompounds commonly called vitamins, vitamin Dwas discovered in an effort to find the dietary sub-stance that was lacking in a disease, namely, rickets, the childhood form of osteomalacia. Additionally, like other compounds called vitamins, in the devel-oped world vitamin D is added to staple foods, suchas milk, to avoid disease due to deficiency.

Measures of serum levels reflect endogenous syn-thesis from exposure to sunlight as well as intakefrom the diet, and it is believed that synthesis maycontribute generally to the maintenance of adequateserum concentrations. The evidence indicates thatthe synthesis of vitamin D from sun exposure worksin a feedback loop that prevents toxicity but, becauseof uncertainty about the cancer risk from sunlight, norecommendations are issued by the Institute of Med-icine, USA, for the amount of sun exposure requiredto meet vitamin D requirements. Accordingly, theDietary Reference Intakes for vitamin D assume thatno synthesis occurs and that all of a person's vitaminD is from their diet, although that will rarely occurin practice.

In the liver vitamin D is converted to calcidiol, which is also known as calcifediol (INN), 25-hy-droxycholecalciferol, or 25-hydroxyvitamin D—abbreviated 25(OH)D; and which is the specific

vitamin D metabolite that is measured in serum to determinea person's vitamin D status. Part of the calcidiol is convertedby the kidneys to calcitriol, the biologically active form ofvitamin D. Calcitriol circulates as a hormone in the blood, regulating the concentration of calcium and phosphate in thebloodstream and promoting the healthy growth and remodel-ing of bone. Calcidiol is also converted to calcitriol outside ofthe kidneys for other purposes, such as the proliferation, differentiation and apoptosis of cells; calcitriol also affectsneuromuscular function and inflammation.

Beyond its use to prevent osteomalacia or rickets, the evi-dence for other health effects of vitamin D supplementationin the general population is inconsistent. The best evidence ofbenefit is for bone health and a decrease in mortality inelderly women.

MortalityLow blood levels of vitamin D are associated with increasedmortality, and giving supplementary vitamin D3 to elderlywomen in institutional care seems to decrease the risk ofdeath. Vitamin D2, alfacalcidol, and calcitriol do not appearto be effective. However, both an excess and a deficiency invitamin D appear to cause abnormal functioning and prema-ture aging. The relationship between serum calcidiol leveland all-cause mortality is parabolic, Harm from vitamin Dappears to occur at a lower vitamin D level in the blackpopulation than in the white population.

Being suspicious causes inner torment and we imagine things thateither aren’t true or will probably never happen. -Joyce Meyers

Dark moments happen to all ofus, they’re unavoidable duringour lifetime. The outcome of these momentshowever, are totally dependenton the choices we make andattitudes we have.Darkness (sickness, death of aloved one, loss of a job, heart-break, financial troubles, etc.)provides us the opportunity tostart fresh…to make our starsshine. When we make an effort to cre-ate a better life than before, through conscious choices, thenthis dark moment (no matterhow much it hurt) will be seenas a pivotal point for us…achance where we can learn toappreciate love, life, health andmoney even more than we didbefore.Dark moments are steppingstones for a pathway to peace.

The pathways to peace are thestars.

Have you ever noticed thatwhen dark moments come iswhen you feel like you needGod the most? Well you needHim all the time. Not just whenin need and there is darkness orstars shinning, but ALL thetime.

“Stars can’t shine without dark-ness”, reminds me of this bibleverse:Psalm 30:5King James Version 5 For hisanger endureth but a moment;in his favour is life: weepingmay endure for a night, but joycometh in the morning.

There’s always going to be darkmoments, just hold on becausejoy will come. It may not be onyour time, but God’s time.

Allow God to be the judge andyour life will go smoother. It wasnever my or your place to judgeanyone. Find something better todo than sit around and talk abouthow people are and how they dothings or how they look. Might Iadd, it causes drama. Drama is forthe theaters or movies. Who wantstrouble if it can be avoided? Iprefer peace and joy. I must say it’seasy to get caught up in becausemost think everyone should thinklike we do. So, we judge others.Wrong!

I want to challenge you to talkabout something other than“judging people”. Try talkingabout Jesus, school, sports, cooking, good advice, inspiring

ideas, products and the list goes on.When your friends or family startto be negative or judgmental, redirect the conversation. Try thisfor 30 days and let me know how itgoes. I would like all feedback. Iwill do the same. Email us [email protected] details.

I am sure this will make adifference in your life and all thatyou come in contact with.Remember, you never know whatone goes through if he or shehasn’t shared their story. Even ifyou know his or her story, younever really know what it’s likeuntil you have walked in the sameshoes, on the same road. GodBless!

ChildrenSTOP THINKING ABOUT YOU & THINK ABOUT WHAT’SGOOD FOR YOUR CHILDDoes your child want to play sports and you ignore it or too busy? Does yourchild want you to read to him or her and you ignore it or don’t take the timeout for it? Does your child want you to play a game with you and you’realways too busy? Are you always thinking about yourself?

If you answered yes to any of these questions, then please slow down or don’tbe selfish and give your child some time. God gave us our precious angels asa gift....and remember he may need his gift back sooner than later. We arenever promised another day. None of us. Your child should be one of the mostexciting people in your life. Of course we should put God first. Where is yourchild on the “totem pole”?

Speaking for myself, my child is the sunshine in my day (along with God, andmy husband). I am excited to see him, always. Your children won’t staysmall forever. Blink your eyes and he or she will be gone to college, on thestreets, married, pregnant, having to work, in jail, or dead. Let me think...isthere anything I missed. He or she may be at home longer than expected too.My point is you don’t know what the future holds, but you can certainly givesome love and guidance to help build your child’s future. Unfortunately, some children grow up and do the wrong things and make bad decisions inthe process to fill the void the parent created.

If a child is not getting attention, love or guidance from his or her parents, heor she will go find it. You never know what they may find. Don’t create a voidfor your child to fill. What kind of decisions do you want your child to make? Are you a parent who guides and loves your child or do you create emptiness? It’s never too late to change. Fill the void now before your child does.

Daddy please don't look so sad,Momma please don't cryCause I am in the arms of Jesus andHe sings me lullabies. Please, try not to question God, don'tthink he is unkind.Don't think He sent me to you, andthen He changed His mind.

You see, I am a Special child, and I'mneeded up above.I'm the Special gift you gave Him, theproduct of your love.I'll always be there with you, andwatch the sky at night.Find the brightest star that's gleaming,That's my halo's brilliant light.

You'll see me in the morning frost, that mists your window pane. That's me in the summer showers, I'llbe dancing in the rain. When you feel a little breeze, from agentle wind that blows. That's me, I'll be there, planting a kisson your nose. When you see a child playing, andyour heart feels a little tug,That's me, I'll be there Giving yourheart a hug.So daddy, please don't look so sad, momma don't you cry.I'm in the arms of Jesus, and He singsme lullabies. ~Author Unknown

Exercise and a good diet are also lifestyle decisions thatcan help. Most of all it is important to embrace midlife, and not fear it. By improving your lifestyle behaviors, many problems in life can be reversed. Physical activitycan reduce an extreme amount of tension and reduces agood amount of stress one may be feeling. A balanced, nutritious meal plan is also important along with sleepand rest.A psychotherapist can be helpful during a mid-life crisisbecause it provides an opportunity to enter the next stepof your life with a greater awareness of who you were, who you are, and who you want to be. With the help ofthis therapist, one's issues and problems that have beenbuilding up can be worked on. Additionally, they willhelp you set up a plan to take the next step in your lifewithout bringing up your negativity from the past. There are also life changes that can be made early in lifeto prevent a midlife crisis. Susan Krauss Whitbournefound in her research that those who switched jobs earlierin life had a greater sense of generatively.Dr. Prabha Chandra, a professor of psychiatry, believesthat a midlife crisis can be prevented. It is recommendedto treat it as a transitional phase. In other words, view itas an opening for new opportunities and positive growth. Also, it can be beneficial to accept aging early. Mentalpreparation may reduce overwhelming feelings that leadto crisis.

WILL THE REAL YOU PLEASE STAND UP

MEN GO THROUGH IT TOO continued...

Are you doing what your heart desires. Are you living yourdream or the dream God has planned for you? Who do youwant to be...really? Do you “just exist”? Most people do.

I have talked to many people who have the same job for thepast 20 or 30 years. And to beat it all, many of them are nothappy with what they do. In contrast, I have talked to severalpeople who’s had 30 jobs and still don’t know what they wantto do.

So, the question is “how many layers of skin does it take to getto the real you?” Well, who is the real you? Some peoplesearch for a lifetime and are never content with what they doand who they are. Are you that person?

If your answer is yes, then we needto talk. Or should I say, you andGod need to talk. Either way, I feelstrong that this message is fromGod, to me, and then to you.

We only live on this earth once. Time is alwaysticking away. Don’t let fear hold you back from whatGod wants you to do. First you have to listen to Him.God is perfect! If He is talking to you and it’s reallyHim, then do it! Have faith! I am 34 and finally doingwhat I am supposed to do. Every day is not a bed ofroses. It’s not going to be no matter what you do.However, I am content. I lost my job and that doorclosed. God opened this one for me. I am happy andmy family is much happier.

If my faith and relationship with God wasn’t strong,I would be doing the wrong thing again. I want to feellike I have purpose. I love to help people. It makes mefeel like I am on cloud nine when I am able to helppeople in need. Just a few words can change a life. Ifinally after countless jobs, found the real me. Willyou? It could be for a season or forever, but find thereal you. WILL THE REAL YOU PLEASESTAND UP?

If you shun the sun, suffer from milkallergies, or adhere to a strict vegetariandiet, you may be at risk for vitamin Ddeficiency. Known as the sunshine vita-min, vitamin D is produced by the bodyin response to sunlight. It is also occursnaturally in a few foods including somefish, fish liver oils, and egg yolks and infortified dairy and grain products.

Vitamin D is essential for strong bonesbecause it helps the body use calciumfrom the diet. Traditionally, vitamin Ddeficiency has been associated withrickets, a disease in which the bonetissue doesn't properly mineralize, lead-ing to soft bones and skeletal deformi-ties. But increasingly, research isrevealing the importance of vitamin Din protecting against a host of healthproblems.

Symptoms of bone pain and muscleweakness can mean you have a vitaminD deficiency. However, for many peo-ple, the symptoms are subtle. Yet evenwithout symptoms, too little vitamin Dcan pose health risks. Low blood levelsof the vitamin have been associatedwith the following: increased risk ofdeath from cardiovascular disease, cog-nitive impairment in older adults, se-vere asthma in children and cancer.

Research suggests that vitamin D couldplay a role in the prevention and treat-ment of a number of different condi-tions, including type1 and type 2diabetes, hypertension, glucose intoler-ance, and multiple sclerosis.

Vitamin D deficiency can occur for anumber of reasons: you don't consumethe recommended levels of the vitaminover time. This is likely if you follow astrict vegetarian diet, because most ofthe natural sources are animal-based,including fish and fish oils, egg yolks, cheese, fortified milk, and beef liver.Your exposure to sunlight is limited.

Because the body makes vitamin D

Deficiency

Vitamin D continued

when your skin is exposed to sunlight, you may be at risk of deficiency if youare homebound, live in northern latitudes, wear long robes or head coveringsfor religious reasons, or have an occupation that prevents sun exposure.

You have dark skin. The pigment melanin reduces the skin's ability to makevitamin D in response to sunlight exposure. Some studies show that olderadults with darker skin are at high risk of vitamin D deficiency.

Your kidneys cannot convert vitamin D to its active form. As people age theirkidneys are less able to convert vitamin D to its active form, thus increasingtheir risk of vitamin D deficiency.

Your digestive tract cannot adequately absorb vitamin D. Certain medicalproblems, including Crohn's disease, cystic fibrosis, and celiac disease, canaffect your intestine's ability to absorb vitamin D from the food you eat.

You are obese. Vitamin D is extracted from the blood by fat cells, altering itsrelease into the circulation. People with a body mass index of 30 or greateroften have low blood levels of vitamin D.

The most accurate way to measure how much vitamin D is in your body isthe 25-hydroxy vitamin D blood test. A level of 20 nanograms/milliliter to 50ng/mL is considered adequate for healthy people. A level less than 12 ng/mLindicates vitamin D deficiency. Treatment for vitamin D deficiency involvesgetting more vitamin D -- through diet and supplements. Although there is noconsensus on vitamin D levels required for optimal health -- and it likelydiffers depending on age and health conditions -- a concentration of less than20 nanograms per milliliter is generally considered inadequate, requiringtreatment.
