SOCCER,  THE  LEGACY  OF  BRAZIL  

TIME  CAPSULE  PROJECT:

Although  I  have  dual  ciGzenship  I  consider  myself  to  be  Brazilian  as  that  is  the  country  where  I  spent  my  childhood  and  that  I  idenGfy  myself  the  most.    Being  away  from  my  home  country  for  more  than  6  years  makes  it  preRy  clear  what  I  culturally  miss  the  most:      

S  O  C  C  E  R    I  do  play  and  watch  soccer  eventually  in  Australia  but  it  is  far  from  the  passion  and  involvement  Brazilians  have  with  the  sport.      Like  many  say,  for  us  it  is  not  a  sport,  but  more  like  a  religion.

To  demonstrate  the  legacy  of  my  country  in  a  Gme  capsule  I  would  include  the  following  informaGon  about  the  sport:    1  –  Soccer  rules      2  –  Soccer  history      3  –  Brazil’s  relaGonship  with  soccer

As  a  Gme  capsule  aims  to  provide  informaGon  for  future  generaGons  or  civilizaGons,  the  founders  of  the  Gme  capsule  might  not  know  what  soccer  is  nor  how  it  is  played.      Being  soccer  this  beauGful  game  that  is  the  most  popular  sport  of  our  Gme  it  can  be  a  huge  contribuGon  if  I  include  the  rules  of  the  game.        This  can  lead  to  future  civilizaGons  developing  the  same  passion  we  Brazilians  have  for  the  sport.  

1  –  SOCCER  RULES  

Explaining  the  rules  can  be  difficult  since  we  have  potenGal  technology  and  language  barriers.  Therefore  I  would  include  the  rules  in  the  following  formats:  

1  –  SOCCER  RULES  

-­‐  Videos  showing  all  the  rules  in  mulGple  formats  and  medias,  like  DVD,  USB  drives,  iPads  and  computers  with  videos  in  it.      By  doing  that  there  is  a  chance  the  videos  are  watched  and  they  would  probably  be  the  most  effecGve  way  to  teach  the  sport.    

-­‐  Books  with  the  rules  in  mulGple  languages  and  also  in  computer  formats.      With  the  possibility  that  the  founders  of  the  Gme  capsule  would  be  able  to  decipher  our  language  books  would  easily  explain  how  the  game  is  played.

-­‐  Simple  drawings  with  schemaGcs  of  all  rules  

We  have  to  consider  that  the  informaGon  in  videos  or  books  would  not  be  understood  on  a  Gme  capsule.    As  a  backup  plan  pictures  can  be  effecGve  in  teaching  the  sport  to  new  civilizaGons.      Unfortunately,  the  natural  gi1  and  skill  Brazilians    have  cannot  be  showed  by  this  method.

Following  the  same  strategy  of  videos,  books  and  pictures  I  would  include  the  following  informaGon:    -­‐  How  the  sport  was  created.  

-­‐  How  it  spread  across  the  world.  

-­‐  CompeGGons.  

-­‐  Sport  economics.  

This  covers  the  main  aspects  and  will  be  helpful  on  showing  how  the  sport  evolved  throughout  the  years.  

2  –  SOCCER  HISTORY  

To  show  the  passion  towards  the  sport  and  how  successful  the  country  is  on  compeGGons  these  are  the  themes  to  be  included  on  the  videos,  books  and  pictures.    -­‐  Soccer  history  in  Brazil.  

-­‐  Soccer  clubs  and  internal  compeGGons.  

-­‐  World  cup  history  and  success.  

-­‐  Main  soccer  players  history.  

-­‐  Economy  and  social  impact  of  the  sport.  

3  –  BRAZIL’S  RELATIONSHIP  WITH  SOCCER  

FIFA  World  Cup    All-­‐.me  rankings  

The  informaGon  added  to  the  Gme  capsule  makes  jusGce  to  the  importance  of  soccer  and  Brazil  to  the  world.    It  not  only  shows  the  heritage  of  the  sport  and  its  significance  in  our  Gme  but  it  also  aims  at  teaching  the  sport  to  whoever  finds  the  Gme  capsule.    Brazil  is  portrayed  as  a  successful  country  with  passionate  and  skillful  people,  and  will  be  admired  and  respected  by  the  civilizaGon  that  obtains  this  informaGon.    Joining  IE  Global  MBA  +  Global  Management  I  expect  to  learn  tools  and  techniques  to  beRer  develop  my  creaGvity  and  effecGvely  communicate  my  ideas  and  direcGons.
