Introduction
This manual covers printer specifications andoperating- and maintenance procedures for servicingthe Ithaca® Epic 950™ printer. The Epic 950™ printeris supported by Atronic e-motion™ and Harmony™gaming machines using software versions B1.2.1 andhigher. Atronic Cashline™machines do not supportthis printer.

Ticket clearance
A minimum paper clearance of approx. 20 mm (0.75")is required above the printer's ticket bucket. Considerthis when installing online system equipment to amachine top box where a printer is installed.

Remove loaded tickets
The Ithaca Epic 950 printer has two ways to removeunused tickets from the printer mechanism assembly.
• Unload tickets by opening the Ticket Cover• Unload tickets using the Feed Button
Unload tickets by opening the Ticket Cover
1.Pull the Inner Chassis away from the Outer Chas-sis until it stops in open position.
2.Lift and rotate the Ticket Cover backwards, towardsthe rear of the printer.
3.Remove all tickets from the ticket path and the tickettray and check for any debris.
4.Close the Ticket Cover.
5.Proceed with ticket loading procedure.
Unload tickets using the Feed Button
1.Pull the Inner Chassis away from the Outer Chas-sis until it stops in open position.
2.Seperate ticket currently loaded from the ticketstack and remove the ticket stack.
3.Press the Feed Button to eject the ticket.
4.Proceed with ticket loading procedure.

Ticket loading procedure
1.Make sure that there is power to the printer.
2.Remove any loaded tickets remaining from the oldticket stack (see previous page).
3.Remove the tear off band from the new paper stackand place the paper stack into the ticket box.
The printable (blank) side has to face down.(even if otherwise stated on the paper itself).
The top of form mark has to be on the leadingedge of the ticket, facing upwards.
4. Insert the leading ticket into the printer mecha-nism. When the ticket is fed about 15 mm into themechanism, the printer automatically completes thefeeding.
5. If the printer has been slid out of the rack, makesure that the printer is closed.
6.The printer is ready for printing.

Cleaning the printer
Use a soft brush to clean paper dust from inside theprinter and chassis area. The paper dust should alsobe removed from the sensor optics.
Cleaning the Print Head
If streaking on the printed ticket is evident, the ther-mal print head may need to be cleaned. This can bedone by inserting a thermal printer cleaning card.
1.Remove remaining tickets from the ticket path andcheck for any debris.
2.Close the Ticket Cover, if it has been opened.
3.Make sure that there is power to the printer.
4.Unpack a 2.5" x 6" Thermal Cleaning Card and in-sert it into the feed path. The cleaning card willautomatically be drawn into the feed path.
5.Open the cover and remove the cleaning card bygently pulling it back.
6.Repeat the process if necessary.
7.Properly dispose of used cleaning card.

Printer status LED / Bezel status
The Ithaca Epic 950 printer features a LED indicatorsystem that provides the condition of the printer byusing solid or blinking LEDs to communicate thestatus of the printer.
The following table lists the different LED indications.

LED Panel
Printing a Selftest Ticket
The Epic 950 has the ability to print a pre-definedselt-test ticket, to test the normal functionality ofthe unit, and create a printout of the current printerconfiguration. To print a self-test ticket perform thefollowing steps:
1.Unrack the Inner Chassis
2.Open the Ticket Cover. Do not remove a currentlyloaded ticket.
3.Press and hold the Feed Button until the OpenLED goes out. Then release this button.
4.Close the Ticket Cover. The unit now starts to printthe self-test ticket.
5.Close the Inner Chassis to resume normal operation.

Electrical connections
Power and communication are supplied through theserial communications PCB located at the rear of theprinter. The interface connector is a 14 pin MolexMinifit Jr®.
