CYBERSAFETY @ LPPS
At Launching Place Primary School, we are proud to be recognised as an eSmart school. This status involves reminding our community about staying safe online. Please take the time to sit with your child and read through the following Top 10 Tips as recommended by the Alannah & Madeleine Foundation. 1. Care About the Share: Social media wants you to share as much as you can bear! But the share should be rare. NEVER share: passwords, private/personal information, your location.
2. Privacy Matters: If you care about the share, you’ll protect your privacy, no matter what. Regularly check your privacy settings on social media, and always think before you post. It’s amazing where data ends up – usually all over the internet. 3. Respect the Privacy of Others: Treat others’ privacy as you would your own. Ask for your friends’ permission before uploading photos and videos of them. It’s not all about you. 4. Keep Everything Updated: Any idea what causes the most security breaches on the internet? Software that isn’t up-to-date. Seems crazy simple, but it’s true! Be vigilant about updating software, including apps, anti-virus and even the humble browser. 5. Spam, Spam, Spam, Spammidy-spam: Even with the best anti-spam and malware software – that’s up-to-date – spam is the modern version of junk mail. It’s everywhere! Learn how to tell the difference between real emails and messages, and dodgy things with dodgy links. Sometimes they don’t look so dodgy...always be suspicious of hyperlinks in emails. 6. Control the Troll Within: There be trolls out there – beware! Don’t feed them, don’t give them what they want: an angry response. Block/Report the trolls. But also: resist the inner troll. If you’re not adding something to the debate online, don’t bother. Don’t be part of the problem. 7. Cyberbullying and Harassment: If you’re being targeted by this kind of behaviour, know what you can do, and where you can get help. Visit the National Centre Against Bullying website and the Office of the eSafety Commis-sioner's website. 8. Keep Your Friends Close and Strangers at Arm’s Length: Do you know how many true friends most people have? Three. Yup, those four thousand and fifty-two Facebook ‘friends’ are a combination of acquaintances, peo-ple-you-met-once, people-you-can’t-remember-meeting-once, and probably, some ‘randoms’. They don’t need to know what you had for breakfast, or what concert you went to last night, do they? 9. Feel the Flow – Keep Your Life in Balance: Technology is incredible. Gaming, networking, apps…online shop-ping! But make sure you take time out and find the right balance for you. Too long on tech can put the world out of whack. 10. Have Fun: Always remember to chill out and keep things in perspective. There’s too much information
online to take it all in! Focus on each moment, and enjoy.

Aerobics Report
This year, 27 students competed in the Aerobics Nationals Competition held in Queensland. The comment below was placed on the Nationals Facebook page – it was a lovely compliment to all kids. “As we sit on the plane on our way home, we would like to congratulate all 27 students. Not only were we proud of their results, we were so proud of their behaviour, the way they followed instructions, supported each other, handled themselves and had positive attitudes. We had a great time with them! We would like to thank the parents and supporters for bringing the Launching Place community feel-ing all the way to the Gold Coast. And a big thank you to Bianca for the endless hours she put in to help the trip run so smoothly. We hope everyone has a safe flight home, and we look forward to seeing you back at school. Love, your proud coaches!”
What a fantastic effort by everyone to ensure all of the National aerobics teams had a great time representing their school. We would like to thank the coaches, parents and most importantly say how proud we are of all the kids for making it to Nationals. Results were as follows:
Solo Artist - Angus: Gold; Trouble Makers: Bronze; Survivors: Gold; Domin8: 6th; Fire Starters: 7th

Our Weekly Recap
On Monday we made egg carton animals, Ella made a turtle and Zoe made a cat-
erpillar. They look great. We also enjoyed a comedy show put on by Mahliki in
the morning.
On Tuesday we played sprout ball in the GP room. We made sure that everyone
was playing fairly. We also enjoyed a small game of footy on the oval before it
started to rain.
On Wednesday we got to have pancakes for breakfast. We were all very helpful
making, flipping and serving the pancakes.
On Thursday we made some really cool animals out of clay. Ella made a very blue
elephant with cute pink dots and Zoe made 3 different unicorns.
On Friday we made a box fort out of all of the cardboard boxes we could find. We
used icy pole sticks and sticky tape to make it a strong as we could.
