characters by creating a body biography in groups of two in approximately one hour.
Materials Needed:• Notebook• Pen/Pencil
What is Body Biography?
• Is a time to draw and look at a character in depth.
• You select a character from the and create a physical body analysis of that character.
• You can use pictures, symbols, words and quotes to show that character’s purpose, motivation, thoughts, and feelings.

• Each area/body part your character has must be filled in.
• I will give your group a sheet with this information on it!

What is Body Biography?
• Brain: what makes this person “tick”; think what motivates/drives this person to action.
• Eyes: visions, goals, hopes, and dreams; who/what did this person see for themselves in the future?
• Mouth: Three quotes by this person that define who they are in the play.
• Left hand: actions performed by this character that are important.

• Right hand: same as left; you will need another example of an action performed by this character.
• Heart: who/what did this person love or value? This can be multiple people/things.
• “Achilles heel”: who/what was this person’s weakness?

Some Tips…
• Be creative—I know Joe has a lot of body parts missing! Use colors and be artistic! I will laminate the best ones to use as examples for next year.
• Trace in pencil before using crayons/ markers.• YOU ONLY GET ONE SHEET! DON’T MESS UP!• Do not use markers to color in large areas—
use crayons—don’t waste my markers!
