I have pleasure in announcing to the community that Stewart Winton was re- elected as School Council president, Lynne Roberts was elected as the Community member and Menik was re–elected as the Treasurer for 2017. There is still one vacancy for a parent member position on the school Council. Please contact the Principal Naomi Reed or contact the office if you would like to nominate for this position. Thank you to Esin for volunteering to join the Fundraising committee. We would like to see more parents coming along to these meetings held in the staffroom each month. The next meeting is on Wednesday 29th March at 2:45 in the staffroom. All parents are welcome to attend. MEDICAL RECORDS & CONTACT DETAILS We are currently updating the First aid documentation and family details. Thank you to the parents who have updated asthma management plans, medical forms and personal details. If your child has a medical condition, inform the school and complete the docu- mentation so we can ensure the safety of all children at the school. SCHOOL MAINTENANCE AND IMPROVEMENTS This week we have had the school fumigated and eliminated pests such as spiders and ants from in and around the buildings. We have also had the aircons serviced and they are working more efficiently during this hot spell of weather. Blinds will be installed in the portable and in the Hall shortly and the classroom spaces with IWB and internet ac- cess will be ready for the start of term 2. It is against school rules to climb trees in the yard. The teachers have been speaking to the children about playing safely and what that means. School maps have clearly de- fined play areas and areas that are out of bounds. These areas are discussed during whole school and team assemblies. Please reinforce the importance of playing safely with your child/ children at home. PARKING SAFETY Locharn Crescent Student Drop Off: To keep students safe could all students be dropped off at the curb side, use the footpath and enter the school grounds via the pedestrian gate. The car park here is for staff only for the remainder of term 1. Please take note of the parking restrictions in force on Cochrane Avenue, Merrick Street and Ashleigh Street. The Council has been contacted regarding vehicles not adhering to VicRoads regulations and will be regularly monitoring the surrounding streets. When the building project commences in May-June, there will be no access to the school via Locharn Cresent at all. The current staff car park will become the builder’s compound and consequently is out of bounds to the school community. The pedestrian gate will be closed for safety reasons and the children will enter the school via Merricks street or Cochrane avenue gates. Naomi Reed Principal

Every Thursday, the 5/6s compete in the interschool sports. In the 1st round, there was a BYE. We won the second round against Keysborough Primary School, the mixed team scored 8 to 4. In the 3rd round we went to Mt Hira. They were a pretty tough side but we won, 7 to 5. We have two rounds left, against Wallarano
Primary School and then Clayton South Primary School. Hopefully we make it to finals! Omaid F, 5/6A
CRICKET
Everyone says that cricket is boring but I disagree. Cricket is so fun. Last week we played against Mt Hira
College, we all played our best but we lost. They were good, that’s what everyone said, but I stood up and
said that we are better than them even if we lose, we will still be champions!!! Claire 5/6D
BASKETBALL GIRLS
The basketball girls’ team played against Mt.Hira in. The girls enjoyed playing even though it was a tough
game. The girls scored 14 and Mt.Hira scored 8. We were so happy that we won. GO GIRLS.
BASKETBALL BOYS
The basketball boys’ team played against Mt.Hira. It was a tough game for them. The boys scored 6 and
Mt.Hira also scored 6 which means they ended up having a draw. Even though it was a draw they still
