INTRODUCTION• Thrissur Railway Station – commenced on June

2, 1902 • A-1 category railway station located in Thrissur

City.• It lies on the busy Shoranur – Cochin Harbour

section.• Also connects to the temple town of Guruvayur.• 65 pairs of trains passes through the station on

an average day. • Have a traffic of 20,000 passengers per day.

NEED ANALYSIS • Growth of passenger traffic.• New trains are coming – Budget 2013.• Ernakulam - Thrissur MEMU will start running.• 3rd and 4th rails have been started using.• Passengers have to cross the rail to reach 4th

platform.• Passengers have to walk a lot of distance to get

bus towards North stand or Sakthan stand.

TECHNICAL FEASIBILITY

• Foot over bridge from fourth platform can be connected to the existing bridge.

• Buses doesn’t have a much difference in their travel distance and time.
