Recycle• Recycling is processing used

materials (waste) into new products to prevent waste of potentially useful materials, reduce the consumption of fresh raw materials, reduce energy usage, reduce air pollution (from incineration) and water pollution (from landfilling) by reducing the need for "conventional" waste disposal, and lower greenhouse gas emissions as compared to virgin production.

• Recyclable materials include many kinds of glass, paper, metal, plastic, textiles, and electronics.

• For example, used office paper would be converted into new office paper, or used foamed polystyrene into new polystyrene.

WAYS TO RECYCLE GARBAGE AT SCHOOL

• Start a recycling program at your school. • Buy notebooks and paper that are made from recycled paper. • Every class could have a recycling bin and assign two students per

class to be in charge of emptying it when it gets full.  Kids should also be assigned to empty bins in non-classroom areas ( office, library, music room, gym, art room).

• Ask your teachers to teach every stage about recycling. • Make displays to remind students about recycling at home and at

school. • Make displays to increase awareness of garbage that gets thrown

away each day. • Collect ink-jet cartridges to recycle.

REUSE

• To reuse is to use an item more than once. This includes conventional reuse where the item is used again for the same function, and new-life reuse where it is used for a new function

Advantages & Disadvantages ofReuse

• Reuse has certain potential advantages:

Energy and raw materials saving as replacing many single used products with one reusable one reduces the number that need to be manufactured

Reduce disposal needs and costs

Some older items with better handcrafted and appreciable in value

Cost savings for business and consumers as a reusable product is often cheaper than the many single used products it replaces.

Disadvantages are also apparent:

Reuse often requires cleaning or transport, which have environmental costs

Some items, such as freon appliances or infant auto seats, could be hazardous or less energy efficient as they continue to be used

WAYS TO REUSE GARBAGE AT SCHOOL

• Bring books that you don’t want anymore to your library and see if they can use them.

• Organize a school-wide rummage sale in order to pass along items that people don't want anymore.  Remember, one person's trash can be another person's treasure!

• Use the back of paper (both sides). • Buy reusable pens and pencils and then refill them during the

school year. • Bring plastic or cloth lunch bags instead of paper ones.  You can

reuse plastic or cloth, but you have to throw away paper bags. • Create scratch pads out of paper that has only been used on one

side. Bind it on one of the sides and reuse it. • Use materials in art class that you would normally throw away. • Ask your teachers to teach every stage about reusing things. • Use paper grocery bags to make book covers instead of buying

cloth ones.

REDUCE

• Waste minimisation is the process and the policy of reducing the amount of waste produced by a person or a society.

WAYS TO REDUCE GARBAGE AT SCHOOL

• Write letters to companies asking them to be more environmentally responsible in packaging their products.

• Write letters to your school district about an alternative to throw-away lunch trays, or the possibility of recycling them.

• Use less paper.  Ask your teacher if he/she will let students hand in assignments by using email or by handing it in on a computer disk.

• Ask your teachers to teach every stage about reducing garbage. 

• Sponsor a waste-free lunch day.

• Using own handkerchief and lessen using tissue paper.This action can save energy and less rubbish.

• Use two sides of the paper• Practice using natural light by always

opening the windows . • Buy and use paper which has been

recycled . This can help to reduce the amount of tree cutting .

Organise a Garden

• If you have a piece of ground at school , you can think about ways to use it well . Perhap you can plant a tree . You might prefer to grow vegetable and learn about how to grow different ones on different parts of the garden. Each year so as not to wear out the soil .

Why Have a Garden ?

• To give us shelter and sahde from the rain , wind and sunlight.• To present and have a decent appearance around the shool.• To have a pleasant enviroment around the school

that would encourage studying in a condusive area.• To reduce boringness . The attractive

characteristic of the stems,different shapes of leaves ,flower , sizes ,smell and colours at a beatiful garden
