Baggett Park Trailhead: MD Route 235 to John V. Baggett Park at Laurel Grove, 26929 Three Notch Road, Mechanicsville. Ample parking; restrooms and water available April through October. Residents and visitors alike enjoy walking, running and bicycling on the Three Notch Trail. However, many don’t know that the trail is built on the former railroad right-of-way and trains ran through the county until the early 1960s. Trail users are encouraged to view the interpretive panels along the trail for more information on the history of rail line. The non-motorized trail runs from Deborah Drive in Charlotte Hall to Thompson’s Corner Road (Route 236) in New Market. There is an additional three mile section of trail to explore from John V. Baggett Park in Laurel Grove to Point Lookout Road (Route 5) in Mechanicsville. The county is now moving forward with the plans for the next section from MD 5 to MD Route 236 in New Market. Completion of this phase will provide 11 continuous miles of trail! Future plans call for the trail to run south from Baggett Park to Lexington Park. Leeland Rd. Mary Dixon Rd. Mount Wolfe Rd.
