Childrens SabbathOctober 20
Sponsored by the Children's Defense Fund, the National Ob-
servance of Children's Sabbaths Celebration is a way for faith com-
munities to celebrate children as sacred gifts of the Divine, and pro-vides the opportunity for houses of worship to renew and live out
their moral responsibility to care, protect and advocate for all chil-
dren.
This celebration is a part of a broader children's movement that aims to unite com
munities and religious congregations of all faiths across the nation in shared concern
for children and a common commitment to improving their lives and working for jus
tice on their behalf. In that respect, each action is bigger, more powerful and more in
spiring than the efforts of any one celebration.
We will celebrate our first Childrens Sabbath as a community, along with other
churches, synagogues, and mosques around the nation, on October 20.

Coming Soon to a Computer Screen Near You!
The office staff has been working
with an outside consultant/web deve
oper behind the scenes for several
months to overhaul the website. The
new siteplanned to go live early
next weekoffers a redesign, updat
content, and increased interactive op
portunitiesvia the blog (primarily
sermons currently), the calendar fun
tion and online giving. We hope that
the more we work with the new site,
the more functionality and commun
cation we will have! You can continu
to access the website via
www.firstbaptistlawrence.com.
Likewise, this will be the page you see when
you click Newsletter at the top of the web-
site. Have no fear! You areat the right place.
This new home for our newsletters (and even-
tually bulletins and other FBC publications)
will allow us the functionality of archiving past
newsletters and bulletins, and housing many,
many documents at once.
