Welcome pageWe start off each lesson with a welcome

page. Here is your “warm up” moment, kind of like walking into a classroom filled with eager students. Recall those days as a child in elementary school?

Perhaps the students are eager with anticipation of today’s lesson, or they may be weary, even sleepy, from a long day of math. (I know math is good, but… yech.).

This is your opportunity to welcome everyone, cast a vision for what you’ll be teaching.

More examples follow…

Welcome pageA few reminders as you create your lessons:

1. Keep the tone intelligent. Use language , content, and images befitting a high school student. The younger crowd will rise to that level. At IguanaPaint Academy, we never dumb down our instruction .

2. Give much detail. Assume your students have never heard what you’re teaching, yet are ready to soak up what you share with them.

3. Keep your images BIG! After all, this is an art school. We love pictures.

4. No cheesy clip art. Never. Take the time to shoot and create good images.

Hi! Welcome back to [name of course]!

This is your welcome page. Each week you’ll welcome your students back to your course. On this page you can mention what you’ve already done as well as cast a vision for what you all will be doing in the current lesson. [Lato font 18pt]

I often will use graphics that hint at what we’ll be discussing in the lesson. Highlight and replace the text with your own.
