A. COORDINATE THE LOCATION OF GRILLES, FAN FILTER BOXES, FILTERS

BIPOLAR IONIZATION, AND FLOW MEASURING DAMPER, ETC., WITH ALL

CASEWORK EQUIPMENT, MECHANICAL ROOM EQUIPMENT, ETC., PRIOR TO

COMMENCING INSTALLATION. WORK NOT SO COORDINATED SHALL BE

REMOVED AND PROPERLY INSTALLED AT THE EXPENSE OF THE CONTRACTOR.

B. THE CONTRACTOR SHALL EXERCISE EXTREME CARE IN THE COURSE OF

THEIR WORK SO AS TO ENSURE THAT THEY DO NOT INTERRUPT ANY

EXISTING SERVICE. FOR SAFETY PURPOSES, PAY PARTICULAR ATTENTION

TO THIS PRECAUTION RELATIVE TO NATURAL GAS AND ELECTRICAL LINES.

VERIFY THE LOCATION, SIZE, TYPE, ETC., OF EACH UTILITY. ALL WORK

SHALL BE PERFORMED IN ACCORD WITH ALL FEDERAL, STATE AND/OR

LOCAL RULES, REGULATIONS, STANDARD AND SAFETY REQUIREMENTS. UTILITIES SHALL BE INSTALLED IN ACCORD WITH THE APPLICABLE

MUNICIPALITY OR UTILITY COMPANY STANDARDS. IN ALL CASES, THE MOST

STRINGENT REQUIREMENT SHALL APPLY.

C. WHERE WORK IS REQUIRED ABOVE EXISTING LAY-IN, PLASTER OR GYPSUM

BOARD CEILINGS, THE CONTRACTOR SHALL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR

REMOVAL AND REINSTALLATION (OR REPLACEMENT, IF DAMAGED) OF ALL

CEILING OR TILE AND GRID MEMBERS NECESSARY TO PERFORM HIS WORK.

NEW TILE AND GRID SHALL MATCH THE SURROUNDING AREAS. ALL

PATCHING WORK SHALL MATCH ADJACENT SURFACES.D. ALL NEW WORK SHALL BE HUNG FROM STRUCTURE, NOT FROM THE WORK

OF OTHER TRADES, WHETHER EXISTING OR NEW.

E. PATCH, REPAIR AND PAINT OR PROVIDE WALL COVERING FOR (TO OWNER'S

STANDARDS) EXISTING WALLS, CEILINGS, ETC., THAT ARE TO REMAIN IF

DAMAGED DURING CONSTRUCTION. REPAIRS SHALL MATCH ADJACENT

SURFACES TO THE SATISFACTION OF THE OWNER.

F. OBSERVE ALL APPLICABLE CODES, RULES AND REGULATIONS THAT MAY

APPLY TO THE WORK UNDER THIS CONTRACT. (CITY, COUNTY, LOCAL, FEDERAL, MUNICIPALITY, UTILITY COMPANY, COMMONWEALTH OF

KENTUCKY, ETC.)

G. CONTRACTOR SHALL BE AWARE OF UNSEEN PLUMBING, HVAC AND

ELECTRICAL WORK DURING DEMOLITION. IF ITEMS ARE UNCOVERED

DURING DEMOLITION THEN FIELD VERIFY THE USE OF THE ITEMS AND

PLAN AN ALTERNATE ROUTE TO RUN THESE ITEMS. THEN CONTACT THE

ENGINEERS TO REVIEW THE ROUTING.

H. ALL PENETRATIONS OF FIRE AND SMOKE RATED ASSEMBLIES SHALL BE APPROPRIATELY FIRE STOPPED PER AN APPROVED U.L. LISTED STANDARD.

CONTRACTOR SHALL PAY PARTICULAR ATTENTION TO INSULATED PIPING

PENETRATIONS.

I. ALL WORK REQUIRING DOWNTIME OF ANY AREA IN THE BUILDING SHALL

BE SCHEDULED 2 WEEKS IN ADVANCE, AND SHALL COMPLY WITH INTERIM

LIFE SAFETY MEASURES.

J. LOCATIONS OF DUCTS AND EQUIPMENT ARE APPROXIMATE AND SUBJECT

TO MINOR ADJUSTMENTS IN THE FIELD. DO NOT SCALE THE DRAWINGS.K. ALL OFFSETS IN DUCTS AND PIPING ARE NOT NECESSARILY SHOWN.

PROVIDE ADDITIONAL OFFSETS WHERE NECESSARY.

L. COORDINATE ALL HVAC WORK WITH ELECTRICAL, PLUMBING AND OTHER

TRADES TO AVOID INTERFERENCE WITH CONDUIT AND OTHER EQUIPMENT.

M. INSTALL ALL DUCTWORK AND EQUIPMENT IN STRICT ACCORDANCE WITH

MANUFACTURER'S INSTALLATION INSTRUCTION. IF IN CONFLICT WITH THE

DESIGN INDICATED IN CONTRACT DOCUMENTS, ADVISE THE ENGINEERS

PRIOR TO INSTALLATION FOR CLARIFICATION. PROVIDE RECOMMENDED

ACCESS AND SERVICE CLEARANCES FOR ALL EQUIPMENT.N. SEAL AIRTIGHT AROUND ALL DUCTS AND PIPING PENETRATIONS THROUGH

WALLS. PROVIDE FIRE STOPPING IN FIRE PARTITION.

O. SEAL ALL NEW DUCTWORK JOINTS WITH UNITED MCGILL, IRONGRIP 6O1

OR EQUAL WATER BASED SEALANT.

P. ALL MOTOR DRIVEN EQUIPMENT SHALL BE INSTALLED WITH FLEXIBLE

CONNECTIONS TO DUCTWORK, ETC., UNLESS OTHERWISE NOTED.

Q. THE CONTRACTOR SHALL RELOCATE OR AVOID ANY EXISTING EQUIPMENT

APPURTENANCES, ETC., THAT CONFLICT WITH NEW WORK.R. WHERE MOUNTING HEIGHTS ARE NOT INDICATED OR ARE IN CONFLICT

WITH ANY OTHER BUILDING SYSTEM, CONTACT THE ENGINEERS BEFORE

INSTALLATION.

S. DOUBLE WIDTH TURNING VANES SHALL BE INSTALLED IN ALL SUPPLY,

RETURN, AND EXHAUST DUCTWORK ELBOWS.

T. ANY VIBRATING, OSCILLATING OR OTHER NOISE OR MOTION PRODUCING

EQUIPMENT SHALL BE ISOLATED FROM SURROUNDING SYSTEMS IN AN

APPROVED MANNER. NOISY OR STRUCTURALLY DAMAGING INSTALLATIONS SHALL BE SATISFACTORILY REPLACED OR REPAIRED AT THE INSTALLING

CONTRACTOR'S EXPENSE. THE FINAL DECISION ON THE SUITABILITY OF A

PARTICULAR INSTALLATION'S ACCEPTABILITY SHALL BE THAT OF THE

ENGINEER.

U. DEVIATIONS IN SIZE, CAPACITIES, FIT, FINISH, ETC. FOR EQUIPMENT FROM

THAT USED AS BASIS OF DESIGN SHALL BE THE RESPONSIBILITY OF THE

PURCHASER OF THAT EQUIPMENT. ANY PROVISIONS REQUIRED TO

ACCOMMODATE A DEVIATION, WHETHER APPROVED BY THE ENGINEERS OR

NOT, SHALL BE THE RESPONSIBILITY OF THE PURCHASER.V. BALANCING DAMPERS OR ANY MECHANICAL/ELECTRICAL ITEM REQUIRING

SYSTEM TIE-IN NOTES

FULLY AND RELIABLY FUNCTIONAL PRIOR TO INTERRUPTING, RELOCATING

OR REMOVING ANY EXISTING SERVICES. IT SHALL BE THE CONTRACTOR'S

RESPONSIBILITY TO BARE ANY AND ALL COSTS ASSOCIATED WITH THIS

THE CONTRACT DRAWINGS ARE NOT INTENDED TO SHOW EVERY VERTICAL OR HORIZONTAL OFFSET WHICH MAY BE NECESSARY TO COMPLETE THE SYSTEMS. CONTRACTORS SHALL, HOWEVER, ANTICIPATE THAT ADDITIONAL OFFSETS MAY BE REQUIRED AND SUBMIT THEIR BID ACCORDINGLY.

C. THE CONTRACTOR SHALL INFORM HIMSELF OF ALL OF THE CONDITIONS UNDER WHICH THE WORK IS TO BE PERFORMED, THE SITE OF THE WORK, THE STRUCTURE OF THE GROUND, THE OBSTACLES THAT MAY BE ENCOUNTERED, THE AVAILABILITY AND LOCATION OF NECESSARY FACILITIES AND ALL RELEVANT MATTERS CONCERNING THE WORK. THE CONTRACTOR SHALL CAREFULLY EXAMINE ALL DRAWINGS AND SPECIFICATIONS AND DETERMINE THE KIND AND TYPE OF MATERIALS TO BE USED THROUGHOUT THE PROJECT AND WHICH MAY, IN ANY WAY, AFFECT THE EXECUTION OF HIS WORK. THE CONTRACTOR SHALL FULLY ACQUAINT HIMSELF WITH ALL EXISTING CONDITIONS AS TO INGRESS AND EGRESS, DISTANCE OF HAUL FROM SUPPLY POINTS, ROUTES FOR TRANSPORTATION OF MATERIALS, FACILITIES AND SERVICES, AVAILABILITY OF UTILITIES, ETC. HIS PROPOSAL SHALL COVER ALL EXPENSES OF DISBURSEMENTS IN CONNECTION WITH SUCH MATTERS AND CONDITIONS. THE CONTRACTOR SHALL VERIFY ALL WORK SHOWN ON THE DRAWINGS AND CONDITIONS AT THE SITE, AND SHALL REPORT IMMEDIATELY TO THE ENGINEER FIVE DAYS (5) PRIOR TO BIDDING, ANY DISCREPANCIES WHICH MAY APPEAR IN ORDER THAT MISUNDERSTANDING AT A LATER DATE MAY BE PREVENTED. NO ALLOWANCE IS TO BE MADE FOR LACK OF KNOWLEDGE CONCERNING SUCH CONDITIONS AFTER BIDS ARE ACCEPTED.

D. THE CONTRACTOR SHALL GUARANTEE ALL EQUIPMENT, APPARATUS, MATERIALS, AND WORKMANSHIP ENTERING INTO THIS CONTRACT TO BE THE BEST OF ITS RESPECTIVE KIND AND SHALL REPLACE ALL PARTS AT HIS OWN EXPENSE, WHICH ARE PROVEN DEFECTIVE WITHIN ONE (1) YEAR FROM FINAL ACCEPTANCE OF THE WORK BY THE ENGINEER. THE EFFECTIVE DATE OF COMPLETION OF THE WORK SHALL BE THE DATE OF THE ENGINEER'S STATEMENT OF SUBSTANTIAL COMPLETION. THE CONTRACTOR SHALL PRESENT THE ENGINEER WITH SUCH WARRANTIES AND GUARANTEES AT THE TIME OF FINAL ACCEPTANCE OF THE WORK. THE ENGINEER SHALL THEN SUBMIT THESE WARRANTIES, ETC., TO THE OWNER. THE OWNER RESERVES THE RIGHT TO USE EQUIPMENT INSTALLED BY THE CONTRACTOR PRIOR TO DATE OF FINAL ACCEPTANCE. SUCH USE OF EQUIPMENT SHALL, IN NO WAY, INVALIDATE THE GUARANTEE EXCEPT THAT THE OWNER SHALL BE LIABLE FOR ANY DAMAGE TO EQUIPMENT DURING THIS PERIOD, DUE TO NEGLIGENCE OF THE OPERATOR OR OTHER EMPLOYEES.

E. THE CONTRACTOR SHALL PROVIDE AND LOCATE ALL SLEEVES AND INSERTS REQUIRED FOR HIS WORK OR SHALL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR THE COST OF CUTTING AND PATCHING REQUIRED FOR PIPES WHERE SLEEVES AND INSERTS WERE NOT INSTALLED, OR WHERE INCORRECTLY LOCATED. THE CONTRACTOR SHALL DO ALL DRILLING REQUIRED FOR THE INSTALLATION OF HIS HANGERS. TERMINATE SLEEVES FLUSH WITH WALLS.

F. PATCHING AND REPAIRING MADE NECESSARY BY WORK PERFORMED UNDER THIS CONTRACT SHALL BE INCLUDED AS A PART OF THE WORK AND SHALL BE DONE BY SKILLED MECHANICS OF THE TRADE OR TRADES FOR WORK CUT OR DAMAGED. ALL WORK SHALL MATCH ADJACENT SURFACES IN A MANNER ACCEPTABLE TO THE ENGINEER.

G. THE CONTRACTOR SHALL PREPARE AND SUBMIT TO THE OWNER WITHIN THIRTY (30) DAYS AFTER THE DATE OF THE CONTRACT, A MINIMUM OF FIVE (5) COPIES OF ALL SHOP DRAWINGS, CERTIFIED EQUIPMENT DRAWINGS, INSTALLATION, OPERATING AND MAINTENANCE INSTRUCTIONS, SAMPLES, WIRING DIAGRAMS, ETC. ON ALL ITEMS OF EQUIPMENT SPECIFIED HEREINAFTER.

H. THE CONTRACTOR SHALL GIVE ALL NECESSARY NOTICES, OBTAIN AND PAY FOR ALL PERMITS, GOVERNMENT SALES TAXES, FEES, INSPECTIONS AND OTHER COSTS, INCLUDING ALL UTILITY CONNECTIONS, ETC., IN CONNECTION WITH HIS WORK; FILE ALL NECESSARY PLANS, PREPARE ALL DOCUMENTS AND OBTAIN ALL NECESSARY APPROVALS OF ALL GOVERNMENTAL DEPARTMENTS AND, OR THE APPROPRIATE MUNICIPALITY OR UTILITY COMPANY HAVING JURISDICTION, WHETHER INDICATED OR SPECIFIED OR NOT. HE SHALL ALSO OBTAIN ALL REQUIRED CERTIFICATES OF INSPECTION FOR HIS WORK AND DELIVER SAME TO THE ENGINEERS BEFORE REQUEST FOR ACCEPTANCE AND FINAL PAYMENT FOR THE WORK. IGNORANCE OF CODES, RULES, REGULATIONS, LAWS, ETC., SHALL NOT RENDER THE CONTRACTOR IRRESPONSIBLE FOR COMPLIANCE.

I. ALL MATERIALS FURNISHED AND ALL WORK INSTALLED SHALL COMPLY WITH THE NATIONAL FIRE CODES OF THE NATIONAL FIRE PROTECTION ASSOCIATION, WITH THE REQUIREMENTS OF LOCAL UTILITY COMPANIES, AND WITH THE REQUIREMENTS OF ALL GOVERNMENTAL DEPARTMENTS HAVING JURISDICTION.

J. ALL HEATING, VENTILATION AND AIR CONDITIONING WORK SHALL BE ACCOMPLISHED IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE STATE BUILDING CODE AND AMENDMENTS THERETO, THE LATEST STANDARDS RECOGNIZED BY THE AMERICAN SOCIETY OF HEATING, REFRIGERATING AND AIR CONDITIONING AND THE NATIONAL FIRE PROTECTION ASSOCIATION.

K. ALL SYSTEMS, EQUIPMENT AND MATERIALS ARE TO BE INSTALLED IN A NEAT AND WORKMANLIKE MANNER. WORK NOT DONE SO SHALL BE REMOVED AND REINSTALLED SATISFACTORILY.

L. WHERE MOUNTING HEIGHTS ARE NOT INDICATED OR ARE IN CONFLICT WITH ANY OTHER BUILDING SYSTEM, CONTACT THE ENGINEERS BEFORE INSTALLATION.

M. DO NOT SCALE FROM DRAWINGS, PRINTING DISTORTS SCALE. WORK SHALL BE LAID OUT FROM DIMENSIONED DRAWINGS, OR DIMENSIONS SUPPLIED TO THE CONTRACTOR.

N. ANY VIBRATING, OSCILLATING OR OTHER NOISE OR MOTION PRODUCING EQUIPMENT SHALL BE ISOLATED FROM SURROUNDING SYSTEMS IN AN APPROVED MANNER. NOISY OR STRUCTURALLY DAMAGING INSTALLATIONS SHALL BE SATISFACTORILY REPLACED OR REPAIRED AT THE INSTALLING CONTRACTOR'S EXPENSE. THE FINAL DECISION ON THE SUITABILITY OF A PARTICULAR INSTALLATION'S ACCEPTABILITY SHALL BE THAT OF THE ENGINEER.

O. ALL SUPPORTS FOR EQUIPMENT, DEVICES, OR FIXTURES SHALL BE UNIQUE, FROM THE BUILDING STRUCTURE. DO NOT SUPPORT WORK FROM OTHER TRADES, EQUIPMENT OR SUPPORTS WITHOUT WRITTEN PERMISSION FROM THE ENGINEER AND CONSENT OF THE OTHER TRADE, IN WRITING. DO NOT SUPPORT EQUIPMENT FROM WALLS OR PARTITIONS.

P. DEVIATIONS IN SIZE, CAPABILITIES, FIT, FINISH, ETC. FOR EQUIPMENT FROM THAT PRIME SPECIFIED SHALL BE THE RESPONSIBILITY OF THE PURCHASER OF THAT EQUIPMENT. ANY PROVISIONS REQUIRED TO ACCOMMODATE A DEVIATION, WHETHER APPROVED BY THE ENGINEERS OR NOT, SHALL BE THE RESPONSIBILITY OF THE PURCHASER.

2. SHOP DRAWINGS:A. THE CONTRACTOR SHALL PREPARE AND SUBMIT TO THE ENGINEER, SHOP DRAWINGS

INCLUDING DESIGN CALCULATIONS, DETAILED CATALOG CUTSHEETS AND LAYOUT DRAWINGS. ALL LAYOUTS AND DRAWINGS SHALL BE CLOSELY COORDINATED BY THE CONTRACTOR WITH THE WORK OF ALL OTHER TRADES. THE SHOP DRAWINGS SHALL INDICATE THE FOLLOWING ITEMS:

3. INSULATION:

ALUMINUM ALLOY SHEETS 3003, FEDERAL SPECIFICATION AA-A-359, TEMPER H-14. UTILIZE ALUMINUM IN MRI SCAN ROOMS.

B. DUCTWORK, PLENUMS AND OTHER APPURTENANCES SHALL BE CONSTRUCTED OF THE MATERIALS OF THE MINIMUM WEIGHTS OR GAUGES AS REQUIRED BY THE LATEST SMACNA 2” W.G. STANDARD OR BELOW TABLE. WHEN GAUGE THICKNESS DIFFERS, THE HEAVIER GAUGE SHALL BE SELECTED. THE BELOW TABLE SHALL SERVE AS A MINIMUM.

F. PROVIDE A “HIGH EFFICIENCY” TYPE TAKE-OFF WITH ROUND DAMPER (FLEXMASTER STOD-B03 OR APPROVED EQUAL) FOR ALL ROUND DUCT BRANCHES. AIR VOLUME DAMPERS SHALL BE INSTALLED IN EACH DUCT BRANCH TAKEOFFS AND/OR WHERE INDICATED, WHICHEVER IS MORE STRINGENT. ALL SUCH DAMPERS SHALL BE ACCESSIBLE WITHOUT DAMAGE TO FINISHES OR INSULATION AND SHALL BE PROVIDED WHERE REQUIRED FOR PROPER SYSTEM BALANCE.

G. INSULATED FLEXIBLE AIR DUCT: THERMAFLEX G-KM OR EQUAL. FLEXIBLE AIR DUCT SHALL BE TWO (2) INCH THICK FIBERGLASS INSULATION WITH CPE LINER PERMANENTLY BONDED TO A COATED SPRING STEEL WIRE HELIX SUPPORTING A FIBERGLASS SCRIM AND FIBERGLASS INSULATING BLANKET. 5. TESTING, BALANCING, LUBRICATION AND ADJUSTMENTS:

A. THE ENGINEER, OR HIS AUTHORIZED REPRESENTATIVE, SHALL BE NOTIFIED BY THE CONTRACTOR TWENTY-FOUR (24) HOURS IN ADVANCE OF ANY TESTS CALLED FOR IN THESE SPECIFICATIONS OR REQUIRED BY OTHERS. ANY LEAKS OR IMPERFECTIONS FOUND SHALL BE CORRECTED AND A NEW TEST RUN TO THE SATISFACTION OF THE ENGINEER OR HIS AUTHORIZED REPRESENTATIVE. UPON COMPLETION OF A TEST, A WRITTEN APPROVAL OF THAT PART OF THE WORK WILL BE GIVEN TO THE CONTRACTOR. ONLY AFTER WRITTEN APPROVAL, SIGNED BY THE ENGINEER, SHALL THE CONTRACTOR APPLY INSULATION OR PAINT OR ALLOW HIS WORK TO BE FURRED IN. THIS WRITTEN APPROVAL, HOWEVER, DOES NOT RELIEVE THE CONTRACTOR OF THE RESPONSIBILITIES FOR ANY FAILURE DURING THE GUARANTEE PERIOD. THE EXPENSE OF ALL TESTS SHALL BE BORNE BY THE CONTRACTOR, ALONG WITH ALL TEMPORARY EQUIPMENT, MATERIALS, GAUGES, ETC., REQUIRED FOR TESTS.

B. SYSTEM BALANCING, WHERE REQUIRED, SHALL BE PERFORMED ONLY BY PERSONS SKILLED IN THIS WORK. THE SYSTEM SHALL BE BALANCED AS OFTEN AS NECESSARY TO OBTAIN DESIRED SYSTEM OPERATION AND RESULTS.

C. FOR THE PURPOSE OF PLACING THE HEATING, VENTILATING AND AIR CONDITIONING SYSTEM IN OPERATION ACCORDING TO DESIGN CONDITIONS AND CERTIFYING SAME, FINAL TESTING AND BALANCING SHALL BE PERFORMED IN COMPLETE ACCORDANCE WITH AABC STANDARDS FOR FIELD MEASUREMENTS AND INSTRUMENTATION FORM NO. 81266, VOLUME ONE, FOR AIR AND HYDRONIC SYSTEMS AS PUBLISHED BY THE ASSOCIATED AIR BALANCE COUNCIL. THE CONTRACTOR SHALL PROCURE THE SERVICES OF AN INDEPENDENT COMPANY, APPROVED BY THE ENGINEER, THAT SPECIALIZES IN AND WHOSE BUSINESS IS TO BALANCE AND TEST MECHANICAL SYSTEMS. THE COMPANY SHALL BE EQUIPPED AND HAVE THE QUALIFIED TECHNICAL PERSONNEL AS REQUIRED BY AABC. NEBB CERTIFICATION IS ALSO ACCEPTABLE.

D. INSTRUMENTS USED FOR TESTING AND BALANCING OF AIR AND HYDRONIC SYSTEMS SHALL HAVE BEEN CALIBRATED WITHIN A PERIOD OF SIX MONTHS PRIOR TO BALANCING. ALL FINAL TEST ANALYSIS REPORTS SHALL INCLUDE A LETTER OF CERTIFICATION LISTING INSTRUMENTATION USED AND LAST DATE OF CALIBRATION.

E. FOUR (4) COPIES OF THE COMPLETE TEST REPORTS SHALL BE SUBMITTED TO THE CONSULTING ENGINEER PRIOR TO FINAL ACCEPTANCE OF THE PROJECT. PRELIMINARY TEST REPORTS SHALL BE SUBMITTED WHEN REQUESTED. CONTROLS.

F. THE TEST AND BALANCE OF THIS SYSTEM SHALL BE BY A CONTRACTOR WHO EMPLOYS ONLY THE SERVICES OF A CERTIFIED AABC OR INDEPENDENT NEBB FIRM WHOSE SOLE BUSINESS IS TO PERFORM TEST AND BALANCE SERVICES.

G. SCOPE OF WORK:

a. FAN POWERED UNITS.b. BALANCE ALL SUPPLY, RETURN AND RECIRCULATED AIR GRILLES TO WITHIN 5%.

6. CONTROLS:

A. PROJECT SHALL ADHERE TO THE UNIVERSITY OF LOUISVILLE, PHYSICAL PLANT DEPARTMENT FACILITIES AUTOMATION AND CONTROLS OWNER PROJECT REQUIREMENTS.

B. ALL BUILDING AUTOMATION AND DIGITAL CONTROL SYSTEMS SHALL ADHERE TO THE LATEST ASHRAE BACNET STANDARD 135-2004 AND EIA 709.1 LONTALK WIRING AND NETWORKING PRACTICES.

C. ALL CONTROL SYSTEMS SHALL ADHERE TO THE LATEST MANUFACTURERS RECOMMENDED INSTALLATION, WIRING AND NETWORKING PRACTICES.

D. ALL CONTROLLERS, CONTROL INTERFACE HARDWARE, SERVICES, INSTALLATION, WARRANTY, TRAINING, ETC., SHALL BE INCLUDED AS HEREINAFTER SPECIFIED. ALL MATERIAL AND EQUIPMENT USED SHALL BE STANDARD COMPONENTS, REGULARLY MANUFACTURED, LOCALLY AVAILABLE AND NOT CUSTOM DESIGNED ESPECIALLY FOR THIS PROJECT. ALL SYSTEMS AND COMPONENTS, EXCEPT SITE SPECIFIC DATABASES, SHALL HAVE PREVIOUSLY BEEN THOROUGHLY TESTED AND PROVEN IN ACTUAL USE PRIOR TO INSTALLATION ON THIS PROJECT.

E. THE TEMPERATURE CONTROL CONTRACTOR (TCC) SHALL PROVIDE ALL ITEMS, ARTICLES, MATERIALS, DEVICES, OPERATIONS OR METHODS LISTED, MENTIONED OR SCHEDULED ON THE DRAWINGS INCLUDING ALL LABOR, MATERIALS, EQUIPMENT AND INCIDENTALS NECESSARY AND REQUIRED FOR THEIR COMPLETION TO PROVIDE A COMPLETE AND OPERATING TEMPERATURE CONTROL SYSTEM. THIS WILL INCLUDE CONNECTING TO ANY MECHANICAL EQUIPMENT FURNISHED WITH A CONTROL INTERFACE DEVICE AND CONTACTING THE EQUIPMENT SUPPLIERS AND/OR MANUFACTURERS FOR INFORMATION FOR THE PROPER INTERFACE TO THE EQUIPMENT BEING FURNISHED.

F. PROVIDE SOFTWARE, HARDWARE AND/OR FIRMWARE UPDATES OR UPGRADES REQUIRED TO THE EXISTING SYSTEM TO ACCOMMODATE THE NEW CONTROL SYSTEM WITHOUT AFFECTING THE EXISTING INTERFACE TO OTHER BUILDINGS MONITORED AND CONTROLLED BY THE EXISTING SYSTEMS. UPDATE ALL SOFTWARE AND FIRMWARE TO THE LATEST REVISION AT THE COMPLETION OF THE PROJECT.

G. THESE APPARATUS' SHALL CONSIST OF, BUT NOT LIMITED TO, ALL NECESSARY THERMOSTATS, SENSING DEVICES, VALVES, AUTOMATIC DAMPERS, DAMPER MOTORS, ACTUATORS, (EXCEPT AUTOMATIC DAMPERS, VALVES, AND DAMPER MOTORS FURNISHED WITH HVAC EQUIPMENT), AND WITH THE NECESSARY ACCESSORIES FOR THE COMPLETE CONTROL OF ALL EQUIPMENT HEREINAFTER SPECIFIED.

H. ACCEPTABLE MANUFACTURES/CONTRACTORS: COMFORT SYSTEMS USA

I. PROGRAMMING CHANGES MUST BE ABLE TO BE ACCOMPLISHED FROM ALL SERVER AND CLIENT OPERATING SYSTEMS. THIS INCLUDES BUT NOT LIMITED TO THE CHANGING OF SCHEDULES, ADDITION OR DELETION OF CONTROLLER LEVEL I/O, AND CHANGING OF PID LOOP PARAMETERS. THE OPERATOR MUST NOT BE ABLE TO DISTINGUISH THE NEW DDC POINTS FROM EXISTING BUILDING AUTOMATION POINTS WHEN COMMANDING, MONITORING OR ACKNOWLEDGING ALARMS. THE INTEGRATION OF THE NEW POINTS WITH THE EXISTING MUST BE INVISIBLE DURING NORMAL OPERATION.

J. THE TEMPERATURE CONTROLS SUBCONTRACTOR SHALL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR COMPLETION OF (1) HARDWARE CHECKOUT SHEETS AND TEST REPORTS, (2) POINT-BY-POINT CONFIRMATIONS, (3) SEQUENCE OF OPERATION CONFIRMATION.

K. THE TCC SHALL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR COORDINATION WITH THE OWNER’S IT STAFF TO ENSURE THAT THE BMS WILL PERFORM IN THE OWNER’S ENVIRONMENT WITHOUT DISRUPTION TO ANY OF THE OTHER ACTIVITIES TAKING PLACE ON THAT LAN.

L. ANY CONTROL WIRING AND TUBING ABANDONED DURING THE COURSE OF COMPLETING THE PROJECT SHALL BE REMOVED IN TOTAL BY THE WORK OF THE CONTROL SYSTEM CONTRACTOR. CONTROLLERS, PANELS AND DEVICES ABANDONED BY THE SCOPE OF THE PROJECT, SHALL BE REMOVED BY THE CONTROL SYSTEMS CONTRACTOR AND OFFERED TO THE UNIVERSITY. UNIVERSITY SHALL BE GIVEN 10 DAYS TO SELECT AND RETAIN ITEMS; CONTROLS SYSTEM CONTRACTOR SHALL PROBABLY DISPOSE OF ANY REMAINING ITEMS.

M. AIRFLOW MEASURING STATION: EBTRON MODEL P+ GTC116, AIRFLOW MEASUREMENT: ACCURACY: ±2% OF FULL SCALE READING, CALIBRATED RANGE: 0 TO 5,000 FPM, NIST TRACEABLE CALIBRATION; TEMPERATURE MEASUREMENT ACCURACY: ±0.15 DEG F, CALIBRATED RANGE: 20 TO 160 DEG F, NIST TRACEABLE CALIBRATION. COORDINATE CABLE LENGTH WITH MANUFACTURER. TWO ISOLATED ANALOG OUTPUT SIGNALS (FIELD SELECTABLE/SCALABLE 0-5/0-10 VDC OR 4-20MA.

N. REWORK EXISTING ECONOMIZER AND MINIMUM OUTSIDE AIR SEQUENCES PER THE FOLLOWING.

O. ECONOMIZER (AHU-1, 2 AND 3):

a. THE CONTROLLER SHALL MEASURE THE MIXED AIR TEMPERATURE AND MODULATE THE ECONOMIZER, MINIMUM OA, AND RETURN AIR DAMPERS IN SEQUENCE TO MAINTAIN A SETPOINT 2°F (ADJ.) LESS THAN THE SUPPLY AIR TEMPERATURE SETPOINT. THE OUTSIDE AIR DAMPERS SHALL MAINTAIN A MINIMUM ADJUSTABLE POSITION OF 20% (ADJ.) OPEN WHENEVER OCCUPIED.

b. THE ECONOMIZER SHALL BE ENABLED WHENEVER THE OUTSIDE AIR TEMPERATURE IS LESS THAN 65°F (ADJ.) AND THE OUTSIDE AIR ENTHALPY IS LESS THAN 22BTU/LB (ADJ.) AND THE OUTSIDE AIR TEMPERATURE IS LESS THAN THE RETURN AIR TEMPERATURE AND THE OUTSIDE AIR ENTHALPY IS LESS THAN THE RETURN AIR ENTHALPY AND THE SUPPLY FAN STATUS IS ON.

c. THE ECONOMIZER DAMPER SHALL CLOSE WHENEVER THE MIXED AIR TEMPERATURE DROPS FROM 40°F TO 35°F (ADJ.) OR THE FREEZESTAT (IF PRESENT) IS ON OR ON LOSS OF SUPPLY FAN STATUS.

d. THE OUTSIDE AND EXHAUST AIR DAMPERS SHALL CLOSE AND THE RETURN AIR DAMPER SHALL OPEN WHEN THE UNIT IS OFF. IF OPTIMAL START UP IS AVAILABLE THE MIXED AIR DAMPER SHALL OPERATE AS DESCRIBED IN THE OCCUPIED MODE EXCEPT THAT THE OUTSIDE AIR DAMPER SHALL MODULATE TO FULLY CLOSED.

P. MINIMUM OUTSIDE AIR VENTILATION (AHU-1, 2 AND 3):

a. WHEN IN THE OCCUPIED MODE, THE ECONOMIZER DAMPER SHALL BE CLOSED AND THE CONTROLLER SHALL MEASURE THE MINIMUM OA AIRFLOW AND MODULATE THE MINIMUM OA DAMPER TO MAINTAIN THE PROPER MINIMUM OUTSIDE AIR VENTILATION SETPOINT.

b. TOTAL MINIMUM OUTDOOR AIR = EXHAUST AIR FLOW (EF-1A + EF-1B + LAB EXHAUST) + 5000 CFM. AHU-1, 2, 3 MINIMUM OUTDOOR AIR = TOTAL MINIMUM OUTDOOR / 3

c. WHEN IN OCCUPIED MODE, CONTROLLER SHALL MEASURE CO2 AND MODULATE OUTDOOR AIR DAMPERS OPEN, OVERIDING THE MINIMUM OUTDOOR AIR POSITION, TO MAINTAIN CO2 SETPOINT, 750 PPM (ADJ.).

Q. DRY CONTACT FROM BI-POLAR IONIZATION UNITS SHALL BE CONNECTED TO ASSOCIATED AHU/RF CONTROLLER. PROVIDE ALARM TO BAS IF BI-POLAR UNIT IS IN ALARM.

REVISIONS

1. ALL CONTRACTORS ARE REQUIRED TO CHECK-IN WITH HSC WORK CONTROL DAILY. THIS INCLUDES PROVIDING A CELL PHONE NUMBER TO IMMEDIATELY CONTACT THE ON-SITE SUPERVISOR IN CASE OF EMERGENCY OR STOP WORK ORDERS DUE TO DISRUPTIONS. IF ANY PROJECT RELATED INCIDENT OCCURS WHICH MAY IMPACT OCCUPANTS, CONTACTOR MUST IMMEDIATELY CONTACT HSC WORK CONTROL 852-5695.

2. KEYS/ACCESS CARDS MAY BE CHECKED OUT BY CONTRACTORS FROM THE HSC WORK CONTROL OFFICE. KEYS/CARDS MAY BE KEPT OVERNIGHT OR OVER THE WEEKEND BUT MUST BE RETURNED TO HSC WORK CONTROL OFFICE THE FOLLOWING BUSINESS DAY. CONTRACTORS WANTING KEYS FOR MULTIPLE DAYS MUST STILL CHECK IN DAILY AT THE HSC WORK CONTROL OFFICE AND SHOW THEIR KEYS. CONTRACTORS MAY NOT “DROP OFF” AT A LOCATION OR LEAVE KEYS UNATTENDED. IF HSC WORK CONTROL OFFICE IS CLOSED, KEYS MAY BE RETURNED TO A PPD PERSON ACCEPTING RESPONSIBILITY FOR THEM. ACCESS CARDS WILL BE DISABLED IF GUIDELINES ARE NOT FOLLOWED.

3. THERE IS ABSOLUTELY NO PARKING ALLOWED ALONG THE ABRAHAM FLEXNER CORRIDOR BETWEEN FLOYD AND PRESTON, THIS IS STRICTLY ENFORCED. MOST CONTRACTORS PARK ON NEIGHBORING PUBLIC STREETS. THIS MEANS NO UNATTENDED VEHICLES, EVEN IF LOADING OR UNLOADING. THE RRC LOADING DOCK WILL BE AVAILABLE TO THE CONTRACTOR SO LONG AS THEY DO NOT BLOCK THE ADJACENT LOADING DOCKS, HANDICAP RAMP OR PEDESTRIAN WALKWAYS. FLASHERS MUST BE ON FOR LOADING AND UNLOADING AND NOT EXCEED 20 MINUTES.

4. THERE ARE TO BE NO UNPLANNED OUTAGES. ANY WORK RELATED TO FIRE/SMOKE ALARMS, SECURITY SYSTEMS, PLUMBING, HVAC, ELECTRICAL, ETC. MUST BE COORDINATED WITH PPD WELL IN ADVANCE.

5. PPE REQUIREMENTS: HARD HATS, SAFETY SHOES, AND SAFETY GLASSES ARE REQUIRED AT ALL TIMES WHILE ON THE JOB SITE AND OTHER PPE SUCH AS GLOVES AND SAFETY VESTS AS REQUIRED FOR THE WORK BEING PERFORMED.

6. OSHA LOCKOUT/TAGOUT STANDARD SHALL BE FOLLOWED TO ENSURE THE MACHINE, EQUIPMENT OR SYSTEM IS TURNED OFF (DE-ENERGIZED) BEFORE WORK IS PERFORMED.

7. UL HSC PPD HOT WORK PROCEDURES WILL BE FOLLOWED WHEN WORKING ON ANY ENERGIZED SYSTEM. CONTRACTORS MUST COORDINATE ANY HOT WORK (WELDING, SOLDERING, BRAZING, GRINDING OR CUTTING) WITH PPD IN ADVANCE AND PROVIDE A DEDICATED COMPETENT AND PROVISIONED FIRE WATCHER FOR THE DURATION OF THE WORK. BEFORE CUTTING OR WELDING IS PERMITTED, THE AREA SHALL BE INSPECTED BY THE INDIVIDUAL RESPONSIBLE FOR AUTHORIZING CUTTING AND WELDING OPERATIONS. A FIRE WATCH SHALL BE MAINTAINED FOR AT LEAST A HALF HOUR AFTER COMPLETION OF WELDING OR CUTTING OPERATIONS TO DETECT AND EXTINGUISH POSSIBLE SMOLDERING FIRES.

8. THIS PROJECT IS LOCATED IN AN OCCUPIED FACILITY. CONTRACTORS SHOULD TAKE EVERY PRECAUTION TO MINIMIZE NOISE, DUST, ODORS OR OTHER DISTURBANCES. NOISE OR VIBRATION GENERATING ACTIVITIES SUCH AS HAMMER DRILLING, CIRCULAR SAWS, CONCRETE CUTTING, CORE DRILLING, NAILERS, DUCTWORK HAMMERING, GRINDING, SETTING ANCHORS, ETC.. ARE TO BE SCHEDULED IN ADVANCE.

9. THERE WILL BE MANY PEOPLE COMING AND GOING AROUND THE SITE. SPECIAL CARE MUST BE TAKEN THAT NO EQUIPMENT, MATERIALS OR OTHER SAFETY HAZARDS ARE LEFT UNATTENDED EVEN FOR A MOMENT. ALSO, GREAT CARE MUST BE TAKEN WHEN MOVING MATERIAL, TOOLS OR EQUIPMENT INTO THE SITE TO SAFEGUARD PEDESTRIANS.

10. LAYDOWN AREA IS LIMITED. MATERIALS, TOOLS OR EQUIPMENT MAY BE STORED ON THE ADJACENT LAWN AS LONG AS THE TREE IS PROTECTED AND ANY DAMAGE TO LAWN OR LANDSCAPING IS BE REPAIRED BY THE CONTRACTOR. ANY MATERIALS, TOOLS OR EQUIPMENT IN LAYDOWN AREA MUST BE SECURED AND PROVISIONS TAKEN TO SAFEGUARD PEDESTRIANS. THERE IS ONLY ONE POTENTIAL DUMPSTER SITE. IT IS LOCATED NEAR THE BAXTER 1 LOADING DOCK AND IS AVAILABLE ON A FIRST COME FIRST SERVE BASIS. NO DUMPSTER LONGER THAN 16’ OR LARGER THAN 20 CUBIC YARDS IS ALLOWED. MOST CONTRACTORS HAUL OFF AS THEY DEMO.

A. THE ROUGHING-IN AND FINAL CONNECTIONS TO ALL ELECTRICALLY OPERATEDEQUIPMENT FURNISHED UNDER THIS AND ALL OTHER SECTIONS OF THESESPECIFICATIONS, OR BY OTHERS, SHALL BE INCLUDED IN THE CONTRACT ANDCONSISTS OF FURNISHING ALL LABOR AND MATERIALS FOR CONNECTION.

8. CLOSE-OUT DOCUMENTATION AND TRAINING

A. UPON COMPLETION OF ALL WORK AND ALL TESTS, THE CONTRACTOR SHALLFURNISH THE NECESSARY SKILLED LABOR AND HELPERS FOR OPERATING HISSYSTEMS AND EQUIPMENT FOR A PERIOD OF TW0 (2) HOURS, OR ASOTHERWISE SPECIFIED. DURING THIS PERIOD, INSTRUCT THE OWNER OR HISREPRESENTATIVE FULLY IN THE OPERATIONS, ADJUSTMENT, AND MAINTENANCEOF ALL EQUIPMENT FURNISHED. GIVE AT LEAST FORTY-EIGHT (48) HOURSNOTICE TO THE OWNER IN ADVANCE OF THIS PERIOD.

B. PROVIDE THREE BOUND COPIES AND ONE DIGITAL COPY OF CLOSE-OUTDOCUMENTATION TO INCLUDE:

B.A. INSTRUCTION AND MAINTENANCE MANUALS WITH PARTS LIST FOR ALLEQUIPMENT AT CLOSE OF PROJECT. FORWARD MANUALS TO ENGINEER FORAPPROVAL.

B.B. AS-BUILT DRAWINGS RECORDING DEVIATIONS FROM PLANS AND ACTUALFIELD CONDITIONS.

9. CLEANING

A. THE CONTRACTOR SHALL, AT ALL TIMES, KEEP THE AREA OF HIS WORKPRESENTABLE TO THE PUBLIC AND CLEAN OF RUBBISH CAUSED BY HISOPERATIONS; AND AT THE COMPLETION OF THE WORK, SHALL REMOVE ALLRUBBISH, ALL OF HIS TOOLS, EQUIPMENT, TEMPORARY WORK AND SURPLUSMATERIALS, FROM AND ABOUT THE PREMISES, AND SHALL LEAVE THE WORKCLEAN AND READY FOR USE. IF THE CONTRACTOR DOES NOT ATTEND TOSUCH CLEANING IMMEDIATELY UPON REQUEST, THE ENGINEER MAY CAUSECLEANING TO BE DONE BY OTHERS AND CHARGE THE COST OF SAME TO THERESPONSIBLE CONTRACTOR. THE CONTRACTOR SHALL BE RESPONSIBLE OR ALLDAMAGE FROM FIRE WHICH ORIGINATES IN, OR IS PROPOGATED BY,ACCUMULATIONS OF HIS RUBBISH OR DEBRIS.

B. AFTER COMPLETION OF ALL WORK AND BEFORE FINAL ACCEPTANCE OF THEWORK, EACH ELECTRICAL CONTRACTOR SHALL THOROUGHLY CLEAN ALLEQUIPMENT AND MATERIALS AND SHALL REMOVE ALL FOREIGN MATTER SUCHAS GREASE, DIRT, PLASTER, LABELS, STICKERS, ETC. FROM THE EXTERIOR OFMATERIALS, EQUIPMENT AND ALL ASSOCIATED FABRICATION.

10.IDENTIFICATIONS

A. PROVIDE PANELS, DISCONNECTS, DISTRIBUTION EQUIPMENT, MOTOR STARTERS,ETC. WITH ENGRAVED LAMACOID PLATE INDICATING EQUIPMENT NAME, PANELAND CIRCUIT SERVED FROM, LOCATION OF PANEL SERVED FROM, WIRE ANDCIRCUIT BREAKER SIZE FOR CIRCUIT SERVED FROM, VOLTAGE AND PHASE,BRANCH OF EMERGENCY POWER IF APPLICABLE. PLATE TO BE RED FOREMERGENCY, BLACK FOR NORMAL POWER, 1/2'' WHITE LETTERING.

B. MARK INSIDES OF WALL AND CEILING BOXES WITH PANEL AND CIRCUITNUMBER.

C. PROVIDE NEW TYPE WRITTEN PANEL SCHEDULE IN PLASTIC SLEEVE FOR ALLNEW AND EXISTING PANELS AFFECTED. SCHEDULES MUST INDICATED EXACTAREAS AND EQUIPMENT SERVED USING OWNER'S ACTUAL ROOMNUMBERS/NAMES, NOT NUMBERS/NAMES ON PLANS.

D. ALL IDENTIFICATIONS SHALL BE CONSISTENT WITH THE OWNER'S STANDARDPRACTICES, ESPECIALLY WITHIN EXISTING FACILITIES. WHERE THEREQUIREMENTS HERE-IN ARE IN CONFLICT WITH SUCH STANDARD PRACTICES,THE CONTRACTOR SHALL NOTIFY THE ENGINEER IN WRITING PRIOR TOORDERING ANY MATERIAL FOR CLARIFICATION.

11. WARRANTIES

A. THE CONTRACTOR SHALL GUARANTEE HIS WORK UNCONDITIONALLY IN WRITINGTO THE OWNER FOR A PERIOD OF ONE YEAR FROM DATE OF FINALACCEPTANCE BY THE ARCHITECT AND/OR THE ENGINEER.

12.COORDINATION WITH OWNER

A. THE CONTRACTOR SHALL COORDINATE ALL HIS WORK WITH THE OWNER WHEREROUTING CONDUIT OR WIRE THRU THE EXISTING BUILDING OR TYING INTOEXISTING DISTRIBUTION EQUIPMENT. PROVIDE 48 HOUR NOTICE TO OWNER INADVANCE OF INTERRUPTING ANY SERVICES - WORK CONTINUOUSLY TORESTORE SERVICE AFTER INTERRUPTION OCCURS.

13.SHOP DRAWINGS

A. THE CONTRACTOR SHALL FURNISH THREE BOUND COPIES AND ONE DIGITALCOPY OF SHOP DRAWINGS TO THE ARCHITECT FOR REVIEW AND APPROVALWITHIN 30 DAYS OF AWARD OF CONTRACT. SUBMIT DRAWINGS ON THEFOLLOWING EQUIPMENT: LIGHTING FIXTURES AND CONTROLS, CONDUCTORS,RACEWAYS AND FITTINGS, FIRE ALARM EQUIPMENT AND SYSTEM DESIGNDRAWINGS, WIRING DEVICES AND PLATES, DISTRIBUTION EQUIPMENT INCLUDINGPANELBOARDS, CIRCUIT BREAKERS AND DISCONNECT SWITCHES, AS WELL ASANY OTHER COMPONENTS OF THE ELECTRICAL WORK AS REQUESTED BY THEENGINEER.

14.INDEMNIFICATION

A. THE CONTRACTOR SHALL HOLD HARMLESS AND INDEMNIFY THE ENGINEER,EMPLOYEES, OFFICERS, AGENTS AND CONSULTANTS FROM ALL CLAIMS,LOSS,DAMAGE, ACTIONS, CAUSES OF ACTIONS, EXPENSE AND/OR LIABILITYRESULTING FROM, BROUGHT FOR, OR ON ACCOUNT OF ANY PERSONAL INJURYOR PROPERTY DAMAGE RECEIVED OR SUSTAINED BY ANY PERSON, PERSONS,(INCLUDING THIRD PARTIES), OR ANY PROPERTY GROWING OUT OF, OCCURRING,OR ATTRIBUTABLE TO ANY WORK PERFORMED UNDER OR RELATED TO THISCONTRACT, RESULTING IN WHOLE OR IN PART FROM THE NEGLIGENCE OF THECONTRACTOR, ANY SUBCONTRACTOR, ANY EMPLOYEE, AGENT ORREPRESENTATIVE.

15.METHODS AND MATERIALS

A. GROUNDING

A.A. ALL METALLIC CONDUIT, CABINETS, EQUIPMENT AND SERVICES SHALL BEGROUNDED IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE LATEST ISSUE OF THE N.E.C.,AND/OR AS SPECIFIED HEREIN. PROVIDE SEPARATE GREEN EQUIPMENTGROUND FOR EACH CIRCUIT. BOND SYSTEMS TOGETHER AND WITHBUILDING GROUND AS NEEDED, AND IN ACCORD WITH N.E.C.

C. CONDUIT FITTINGS

C.A. RIGID CONDUIT FITTINGS SHALL BE OF GRAY IRON, MALLEABLE IRON ORCAST ALUMINUM. ALL COVER PLATES SHALL BE GASKETED WITHNEOPRENE, RATED FOR THE ENVIRONMENT.

C.B. EMT CONDUIT FITTINGS SHALL BE OF THE COMPRESSION TYPE. ALL EMTCONNECTORS AND COUPLINGS SHALL BE OF FORMED STEELCONSTRUCTION.

C.C. RIGID CONDUIT FITTINGS SHALL BE GALVANIZED, TAPERED THREADS WITHALL BURRS REMOVED, ENDS REAMED AND CUTTING OIL WIPED CLEAN.

THE EFFECTIVE DATE OFCOMPLETION OF THE WORK SHALL BE THE DATE OF THE ENGINEER'SSTATEMENT OF SUBSTANTIAL COMPLETION. THE CONTRACTOR SHALL PRESENTTHE ENGINEER WITH SUCH WARRANTIES AND GUARANTEES AT THE TIME OFFINAL ACCEPTANCE OF THE WORK. THE ENGINEER SHALL THEN SUBMIT THESEWARRANTIES, ETC. TO THE OWNER. THE OWNER RESERVES THE RIGHT TO USEEQUIPMENT INSTALLED BY THE CONTRACTOR PRIOR TO DATE OF FINALACCEPTANCE. SUCH USE OF EQUIPMENT SHALL, IN NO WAY, INVALIDATE THEGUARANTEE EXCEPT THAT OWNER SHALL BE LIABLE FOR ANY DAMAGE TOEQUIPMENT DURING THIS PERIOD, DUE TO NEGLIGENCE OF THE OPERATOR OROTHER EMPLOYEES.

J. PATCHING AND REPAIRING MADE NECESSARY BY WORK PERFORMED UNDERTHIS CONTRACT SHALL BE INCLUDED AS A PART OF THE WORK AND SHALLBE DONE BY SKILLED MECHANICS OF THE TRADE OR TRADES FOR WORK CUTOR DAMAGED. ALL WORK SHALL MATCH ADJACENT SURFACES IN A MANNERACCEPTABLE TO THE ENGINEER.

4. CODES, RULES, PERMITS, FEES, REGULATIONS, ETC.

A. THE CONTRACTOR SHALL GIVE ALL NECESSARY NOTICES, OBTAIN AND PAYFOR ALL PERMITS, GOVERNMENT SALES TAXES, FEES, AND OTHER COSTSINCLUDING UTILITY CONNECTIONS OR EXTENSIONS, IN CONNECTION WITH HISWORK; FILE ALL NECESSARY PLANS, PREPARE ALL DOCUMENTS AND OBTAINALL NECESSARY APPROVALS OF ALL GOVERNMENTAL DEPARTMENTS HAVINGJURISDICTION; OBTAIN ALL REQUIRED CERTIFICATES OF INSPECTION FOR HISWORK AND DELIVER SAME TO THE ENGINEER BEFORE REQUEST FORACCEPTANCE AND FINAL PAYMENT FOR THE WORK. IGNORANCE OF CODES,RULES, REGULATIONS, LAWS, ETC., SHALL NOT RENDER THE ELECTRICALCONTRACTOR IRRESPONSIBLE FOR COMPLIANCE.

B. ALL MATERIALS FURNISHED AND ALL WORK INSTALLED SHALL COMPLY WITHTHE CURRENT EDITION OF THE NATIONAL ELECTRICAL CODES, NATIONAL FIRECODES OF THE NATIONAL FIRE PROTECTION ASSOCIATION, THE REQUIREMENTSOF LOCAL UTILITY COMPANIES, AND WITH THE REQUIREMENTS OF ALLGOVERNMENTAL DEPARTMENTS HAVING JURISDICTION.

C. ALL WORK IS TO BE CONSTRUCTED AND INSTALLED IN ACCORDANCE WITHPLANS AND SPECIFICATIONS WHICH HAVE BEEN APPROVED IN THEIR ENTIRETYAND/OR REFLECT ANY CHANGES REQUESTED BY THE STATE FIRE MARSHAL.WORK SHALL NOT COMMENCE UNTIL SUCH PLANS ARE IN THE HANDS OF THECONTRACTOR.

D. THE CONTRACTOR SHALL INSURE THAT HIS WORK IS ACCOMPLISHED INACCORD WITH OSHA STANDARDS.

E. WHERE CONFLICT ARISES BETWEEN ANY CODE AND THE PLANS AND/ORSPECIFICATIONS, THE CODE SHALL APPLY EXCEPT IN THE INSTANCE WHERETHE PLANS AND SPECIFICATIONS EXCEED THE REQUIREMENTS OF THE CODE.ANY CHANGES REQUIRED AS A RESULT OF THESE CONFLICTS SHALL BEBROUGHT TO THE ATTENTION OF THE ARCHITECT AT LEAST TEN (10) WORKINGDAYS PRIOR TO BID DATE, OTHERWISE THE CONTRACTOR SHALL MAKE THEREQUIRED CHANGES AT HIS OWN EXPENSE. THE PROVISIONS OF THE CODESCONSTITUTE MINIMUM STANDARDS FOR WIRING METHODS, MATERIALS,EQUIPMENT AND CONSTRUCTION AND COMPLIANCE THEREWITH WILL BEREQUIRED FOR ALL ELECTRICAL WORK, EXCEPT WHERE THE DRAWINGS ANDSPECIFICATIONS REQUIRE BETTER MATERIALS, EQUIPMENT, AND CONSTRUCTIONTHAN THESE MINIMUM STANDARDS, IN WHICH CASE THE DRAWINGS ANDSPECIFICATIONS SHALL BE THE MINIMUM STANDARDS.

5. INSPECTIONS, APPROVAL AND TESTS

A. THE CONTRACTOR SHALL PROVIDE AS A PART OF THIS CONTRACT ELECTRICALINSPECTION BY A COMPETENT ELECTRICAL INSPECTION AGENCY, LICENSED TOPROVIDE SUCH SERVICES IN THE STATE WHERE WORK IS PERFORMED.

B. AN INSPECTION SHALL BE SCHEDULED FOR ROUGH AS WELL AS FINISHEDWORK. THE ROUGH INSPECTION SHALL BE DIVIDED INTO AS MANYINSPECTIONS AS MAY BECOME NECESSARY TO COVER ALL ROUGHING-INWITHOUT FAIL AND A REPORT OF EACH SUCH INSPECTION VISIT SHALL BESUBMITTED TO THE ARCHITECT AND THE CONTRACTOR WITHIN THREE (3) DAYSOF THE INSPECTION.

C. BEFORE FINAL ACCEPTANCE, THE CONTRACTOR SHALL FURNISH THREE (3)COPIES OF THE CERTIFICATES OF FINAL APPROVAL BY THE ELECTRICALINSPECTOR TO THE ENGINEER AND ONE (1) COPY TO THE STATE FIREMARSHAL'S OFFICE.

D. ALL COSTS INCIDENTAL TO ELECTRICAL INSPECTIONS SHALL BE BORNE BY THECONTRACTOR.

E. PROVIDE TESTING AND VERIFICATION OF ALL INSTALLED SYSTEMS, PROVIDEDBY THE EQUIPMENT MANUFACTURER, WHERE POSSIBLE. PROVIDEDOCUMENTATION OF ALL TESTING. PROVIDE GROUND TESTING WHERE REQUIREDBY THE LOCAL AUTHORITY. PROVIDE ADDITIONAL TESTING AT THE REQUEST OFTHE ENGINEER.

6. MATERIALS AND WORKMANSHIP

A. ALL CONDUIT AND/OR CONDUCTORS SHALL BE CONCEALED IN WALLS, CEILINGSOR FLOORS UNLESS OTHERWISE NOTED. ALL FIXTURES AND WIRING COVEREDIN THIS SECTION SHALL BE INSTALLED TO MAKE UP COMPLETE SYSTEMS ASINDICATED ON THE DRAWINGS AND SPECIFIED HEREIN.

B. ALL MATERIALS, WHERE APPLICABLE, SHALL BEAR UNDERWRITERS'LABORATORIES LABEL WHERE SUCH A STANDARD HAS BEEN ESTABLISHED.

C. EACH LENGTH OF CONDUIT, WIREWAY, DUCT, CONDUCTOR, CABLE, FITTING,FIXTURE AND DEVICE USED IN THE ELECTRICAL SYSTEMS SHALL BE STAMPEDOR INDELIBLY MARKED WITH THE MAKERS MARK OR NAME.

D. ALL EQUIPMENT SHALL BEAR THE MANUFACTURER'S NAME AND ADDRESS ANDSHALL INDICATE ITS ELECTRICAL CAPACITY AND CHARACTERISTICS.

E. ALL MATERIALS, EQUIPMENT AND APPLIANCES SHALL CONFORM TO THE LATESTSTANDARDS OF THE NATIONAL ELECTRIC MANUFACTURERS ASSOCIATION(NEMA) AND THE NATIONAL BOARD OF FIRE UNDERWRITERS (NBFU) ANDSHALL BE APPROVED BY THE OWNER'S INSURING AGENCY IF SO REQUIRED.

1. GENERAL

A. IN GENERAL, AND TO THE EXTENT POSSIBLE, ALL WORK SHALL BEACCOMPLISHED WITHOUT INTERRUPTION OF THE EXISTING FACILITIES'OPERATIONS. THE CONTRACTOR SHALL ADVISE THE OWNERS AT LEASTFORTY-EIGHT HOURS PRIOR TO THE INTERRUPTION OF ANY SERVICES. THEOWNERS SHALL BE ADVISED OF THE EXACT TIME THAT INTERRUPTION WILLOCCUR AND THE LENGTH OF TIME THE INTERRUPTION WILL OCCUR. FAILURETO COMPLY WITH THIS REQUIREMENT MAY RESULT IN COMPLETE WORKSTOPPAGE BY THE CONTRACTOR INVOLVED. WORK TO RESTORE SERVICE SHALLBE CONTINUOUS. MAXIMUM DOWN TIME SHALL NOT EXCEED 2 HOURS.

B. DRAWINGS SHALL NOT BE SCALED FOR FINAL DIMENSIONS. THE CONTRACTORSHALL OBTAIN ALL DIMENSIONS FROM FIELD MEASUREMENTS.

C. ALL MATERIALS SHALL BE NEW AND SHALL BEAR THE U.L. LABEL, WHEREVERPOSSIBLE. ALL EQUIPMENT SHALL BE CONSTRUCTED TO NEMA STANDARDS.

D. THIS CONTRACTOR SHALL COORDINATE HIS WORK WITH ALL OTHER TRADES,OBTAINING SLEEVES, TEMPLATES, INSTALLATION GUIDES, NAMEPLATE DATA,ETC., SUFFICIENTLY IN ADVANCE TO AVOID CONFLICTS AND WORK INSTALLEDIN ERROR OR IN SPACES REQUIRED BY OTHERS. VERIFY ALL ROUGH-INLOCATIONS, MOUNTING HEIGHTS, POWER REQUIREMENTS, ETC., WITH SHOPDRAWINGS TO AVOID CONFLICTS. FAILURE TO OBSERVE THESE REQUIREMENTSWILL NOT BE GROUNDS TO REQUEST AN EXTRA TO THE CONTRACT, IN MONEYOR TIME EXTENSION.

E. 3. DRAWINGS AND SPECIFICATIONS

WHERE THE INSTALLATION OF CONDUIT, AND DUCTS IN WALLS, FLOORS, ORPARTITIONS REQUIRE THE REMOVAL OF ANY FIRESTOPPING OR PENETRATIONSOF FIRE RATED WALLS, CEILINGS, FLOORS, ETC., THE SPACE AROUND SUCHCONDUIT, DUCTS AND PIPINGS SHALL BE TIGHTLY FILLED WITH MINERAL WOOLOR OTHER NON-COMBUSTIBLE FIRE INSULATION MATERIALS, IN ORDER TOMAINTAIN THE INTEGRITY OF THE FIRE RATING.

H. THE CONTRACTOR SHALL INFORM HIMSELF OF ALL OF THE CONDITIONS UNDERWHICH THE WORK IS TO BE PERFORMED, THE SITE OF THE WORK, THESTRUCTURE OF THE GROUND, THE OBSTACLES THAT MAY BE ENCOUNTERED,THE AVAILABILITY AND LOCATION OF NECESSARY FACILITIES AND ALLRELEVANT MATTERS CONCERNING THE WORK. THE CONTRACTOR SHALLCAREFULLY EXAMINE ALL DRAWINGS AND SPECIFICATIONS AND DETERMINE THEKIND AND TYPE OF MATERIALS TO BE USED THROUGHOUT THE PROJECT ANDWHICH MAY, IN ANY WAY, AFFECT THE EXECUTION OF HIS WORK.
