District Structure

The district governor team – including the district governor, first vice district governor, and second vice district governor – is the core of district leadership.

The district governor, first vice district governor, and second vice district governor are really members of a relay team.

Each year, the district governor provides leadership with the support of his/her vice district governors. At the beginning of each Lions year, the baton is passed to the next member of the team.

There’s so much to do as district governor. How am I going to

handle all of the club visits this year?

My first vice district governor can visit the clubs that are experiencing membership and retention challenges.

My second vice district governor can visit clubs that have requested more information leadership development programs and opportunities.

Then I will visit the remaining clubs!

The first vice district governor is the chief assistant to the district governor, directly participates in district administration, and can serve as a representative of the district governor. This prepares the first vice district governor for a more efficient transition into the role of district governor, should he/she be officially elected or should a vacancy occur.
