Last night Harry Ylander ‘50 and Ann (Martin) Ylander ‘51 had dinner in the cafeteria before they move to Nebraska. They chose this location because the cafeteria is where they fell in love during their time at Bethany. At that time the cafeteria was known as Old Main. Harry still remembers seeing Ann walk through the door and the feeling he had when he knew she was the one. Harry also came back to Bethany as the Chief Financial officer and Treasurer. We wish them all the best in their 69 years of marriage!

SWEDES PICK UP VICTORY IN TOTAL TEAM EFFORT
The Bethany College mens basketball team pickedup a 76-59 victory on Wednesday night inside apacked Hahn Gymnasium against KCAC opponentTabor College
The first five minutes of the contest saw a back andforth battle between the Swedes and the BluejaysIn the 15th minute of the contest the Swedes sanktwo three-pointers to bring the score within one
point At the 1348 mark in the half Isiah Sanez junior guard sank a three-pointer to bringthe score to 15 points apiece Another three-pointer from Justin Jones senior guardallowed the Swedes to gain a 28-24 lead in the contest To close out the half Tabor wasable to sink three free throws as a result of a Swedes foul to take a 36-34 lead into thelocker room Read more here photo by Jim Turner
Womens Basketball Defeats Tabor Bluejays this past Wednesday
The Bethany womens basketball team picked up abig win on Wednesday defeating the TaborBluejays 57-54 on January 8
After the Bluejays took an early lead in the contestTabor would be able to push their lead to as largeas five points throughout the first minutes of thegame However the Swedes were able to reboundlate in the first quarter with a small run to cut thatlead to just two points by the end of the quarter The Bluejays were able to stay in controlfor the first part of the second quarter but with just over half of the quarter to play theSwedes were able to take their first lead of the contest Bethany was then able carry that

This fall I studiedabroad in BarcelonaSpain through AIFS(American Institute forForeign Study) It wasan incredible journeyfilled with newadventures everyweek I took classesrelating to my major
(design thinking brand design marketingand fashion global marketing) four days aweek which gave me the opportunity totravel Friday-Sunday almost every weekendMy education was filled with projectspresentations and independent work thatmy professors allowed class time for In oneof my classes each student would bringfood to share with the class and it wouldhelp us focus each day My classes werelaid back but each professor had highexpectations of us and would expect us tocomplete the work They did not push you toturn in assignments which made eachstudent stay on top of their workload Beinga responsible student this was an easytransition
Outside of the classroom I spent myweekends in Germany Paris Nice Romeand Morocco I would embrace the cultureeat local food and appreciate the history ineach country The weekends I did not visit anew country were filled with day trips I tookwith my study abroad program and separatetrips with my friends I spent these day tripsvisiting different cities in Spain such asGirona where a few episodes of ldquoGame ofThronesrdquo were filmed the mountains ofTibidabo the beach town of Sitgesexploring the Salvador Dali Museum andmany more
I knew where I wasgoing without using amap Every street hadmagnificent art andbreathtakingarchitectureWherever I looked Iappreciated the workof Antoni Gaudi agreat exponent ofCatalan Modernism
When you learn the history of the place youreside in you cherish everything about it
Being abroad you find yourself and grow asa person I developed a greaterindependence and self-reliability inBarcelona I couldnrsquot always rely on myfriends to go places with me or walk with meat two in the morning You learn to be anadult and go on adventures on your ownThese skills are essential in your day-to-daylife especially as a young adult These skillsremain with me today and I will use them formany years When you study abroad theworld is at your fingertips It is anexperience I encourage many students topursue It changed my life and it will changeyours
The most valuable experience wasbecoming a Barcelona local for four monthsI took the metro ate the food helped manylost tourists spoke the language andbecame familiar with the city

Baseboard Scoreboard Campaign inHonor of Roger Bishop Announced
Bethany Baseball played without a working scoreboard last season at Anderson Field so acampaign is underway to raise funds for a new scoreboard (pictured below right) Agenerous donor came forward with a $5000 lead challenge gift in memory and in honor oflegendary and popular Psychology Professor Roger Bishop (pictured below left) This is soappropriate as Roger was a huge baseball fan (Swedes and Cardinals) attending MANYgames at Anderson Field and also umpiring MANY MANY games The goal is to raise$24000 to cover the cost of the scoreboard and the installation

This fall I studiedabroad in BarcelonaSpain through AIFS(American Institute forForeign Study) It wasan incredible journeyfilled with newadventures everyweek I took classesrelating to my major
(design thinking brand design marketingand fashion global marketing) four days aweek which gave me the opportunity totravel Friday-Sunday almost every weekendMy education was filled with projectspresentations and independent work thatmy professors allowed class time for In oneof my classes each student would bringfood to share with the class and it wouldhelp us focus each day My classes werelaid back but each professor had highexpectations of us and would expect us tocomplete the work They did not push you toturn in assignments which made eachstudent stay on top of their workload Beinga responsible student this was an easytransition
Outside of the classroom I spent myweekends in Germany Paris Nice Romeand Morocco I would embrace the cultureeat local food and appreciate the history ineach country The weekends I did not visit anew country were filled with day trips I tookwith my study abroad program and separatetrips with my friends I spent these day tripsvisiting different cities in Spain such asGirona where a few episodes of ldquoGame ofThronesrdquo were filmed the mountains ofTibidabo the beach town of Sitgesexploring the Salvador Dali Museum andmany more
I knew where I wasgoing without using amap Every street hadmagnificent art andbreathtakingarchitectureWherever I looked Iappreciated the workof Antoni Gaudi agreat exponent ofCatalan Modernism
When you learn the history of the place youreside in you cherish everything about it
Being abroad you find yourself and grow asa person I developed a greaterindependence and self-reliability inBarcelona I couldnrsquot always rely on myfriends to go places with me or walk with meat two in the morning You learn to be anadult and go on adventures on your ownThese skills are essential in your day-to-daylife especially as a young adult These skillsremain with me today and I will use them formany years When you study abroad theworld is at your fingertips It is anexperience I encourage many students topursue It changed my life and it will changeyours

Baseboard Scoreboard Campaign inHonor of Roger Bishop Announced
Bethany Baseball played without a working scoreboard last season at Anderson Field so acampaign is underway to raise funds for a new scoreboard (pictured below right) Agenerous donor came forward with a $5000 lead challenge gift in memory and in honor oflegendary and popular Psychology Professor Roger Bishop (pictured below left) This is soappropriate as Roger was a huge baseball fan (Swedes and Cardinals) attending MANYgames at Anderson Field and also umpiring MANY MANY games The goal is to raise$24000 to cover the cost of the scoreboard and the installation

Baseboard Scoreboard Campaign inHonor of Roger Bishop Announced
Bethany Baseball played without a working scoreboard last season at Anderson Field so acampaign is underway to raise funds for a new scoreboard (pictured below right) Agenerous donor came forward with a $5000 lead challenge gift in memory and in honor oflegendary and popular Psychology Professor Roger Bishop (pictured below left) This is soappropriate as Roger was a huge baseball fan (Swedes and Cardinals) attending MANYgames at Anderson Field and also umpiring MANY MANY games The goal is to raise$24000 to cover the cost of the scoreboard and the installation
