Bend receptionist Justine Dyer
When I heard those dreaded words “you have cancer” in June of 2012 my world darkened and spun out of control. There was never a doubt or second thought as to where I would go for my care. I was already familiar with Central Care Cancer Center of Emporia and knew they had the most recent in technologies and
access to anything I would ever need or want. Central Care Phy-sicians and staff had cared for my mother-in-law during her cancer treatments several years ago and the care given was out-standing for her and all the family members. My mother-in-law or I never felt rushed and any questions or con-cerns were always an-swered in a timely man-ner by the physician or
other staff members.
The convenience of staying local at Newman Regional Health and having chemotherapy and radiation treatments at Central Care Cancer
Center has been a blessing for me and my family. Not having to deal with the physical, emotional, or financial stress of travel has
been a great relief.
In October I was introduced to Dr. Cindy Chavez. Dr. Chavez had just moved from New York
so we had a wonderful time discussing all the different things Emporia had to offer. Dr. Chavez put me at ease immediately with her knowledge and compassion as she discussed all my treatment options. I have to say, Dr. Chavez looked so
youthful, it was hard for me to believe that she was a medical
school graduate!
I just want to say Thank You Dr. Chavez for the way you show compassion and excellence in what you do. As my oncologist Dr. Chavez will continue to monitor my follow-up care and when I go for my visit It’s more like visiting a
new found friend.
The other physicians and
staff from the front desk,
nurses and therapist always
smile, have patience, or
kind words that brighten
my journey through cancer.
There is no dignity in hav-
ing cancer. It makes a dif-
ference to know that my
health care team is compe-
tent, here locally and cares
for this community as much
as I do.
