About the PerformersSoprano Carrie deLapp Culver is a seasoned performer and educator. She is currently an Associate Professor of Voice at the College of Wooster in Wooster, Ohio. With more than twenty years of

teaching experience, she has served on the faculties of several state and private universities including Emory University, Washington State University, University of Texas at El Paso, Jacksonville State University, and Long Island University and Five Towns College in New York. She has performed and recorded with such diverse organizations as the Atlanta Symphony Chamber Chorus under Maestro Robert Shaw, the El Paso Opera, the Colorado Gilbert and Sullivan Festival under the direction of John Cox, O.B.E., and Boulder’s Dinner Theatre. She is also in demand for her skills as a stage director and conductor for numerous academic productions and, while in New York, for the Gilbert and Sullivan Light Opera Company of Long Island and the Cultural Arts Playhouse. She is a member of the National Association of Teachers of Singing, the National Opera Association and served its companion organization Opera For Youth as

editor of the Opera for Youth Journal. She remains active as a recitalist with recent performances in Barcelona, Spain, and as an oratorio soloist specializing in the music of Bach and Mozart. Dr. Culver served as a soloist for Christ Church from 2001-2007, returned in 2008 to direct and perform in Amahl and the Night Visitors, and was the soprano soloist for the Mozart Requiem in 2009.

Mezzo Soprano Tynan Davis is establishing a reputation as a vibrant, entertaining performer in opera and musical theatre alike. Ms. Davis recently sang the title role in Bizet's Carmen with the Rapides Symphony Orchestra. Other recent roles include The Mother in Menotti's Amahl and the Night Visitors, Cherubino in Le Nozze di Figaro, and Dorabella in Cosi fan tutte. In 2007 Ms. Davis received third place in the Southwest Regional Finals of the Metropolitan Opera National Council auditions. She has also performed with New York’s Amato and Bronx Operas and the Spoleto Arts Symposium in Spoleto, Italy. A native of Texas, Ms. Davis is familiar to Concerts at Christ Church audiences, having performed as the mezzo soloist in the Vivaldi Gloria and Bach Magnificat, and in solo appearances with Michael C. Haigler and John Schwartzberg. This summer marks her debut as an apprentice artist with the Caramoor Bel Canto opera festival.

Tenor Bryce Westervelt is highly sought after as a soloist with opera companies, orchestras and choral groups across the country. He has been characterized as a “light tenor with a charming ease in the stylistic subtleties of early music” Washington Post, having a “delicately nuanced lyric voice” Washington Times, and as being both “vocally seductive and tonally impressive” Monterey Herald. Mr. Westervelt’s concert repertoire spans over 50 major works including those of Monteverdi, Bach, Handel, Haydn, Mozart, Beethoven, Mendelssohn, Rossini, Verdi, Dvorak, Britten and Blake. As concert soloist he has performed with several leading ensembles including the Albany Pro Musica, Annapolis Symphony, the Bach Festival of Central Florida, Bel Canto Chorus, Canterbury Choral Society, Cathedral Choral Society (Washington National Cathedral), Connecticut Choral Artists, the Florida Orchestra, Folger Consort, Hartford Symphony, National Chamber Orchestra, Southwest Florida

He has also appeared in recitals in Clearwater, FL, at the historic Players in New York on the Bechstein Recital Series, the Arts Club of Washington, and at the University of Evansville. Later this June, Mr. Westervelt will record Franz Schubert’s Die schöne Müllerin for release in the fall of 2010. On the operatic stage, his roles include Nemorino in L’elisir d’amore, Ferrando in Cosí fan tutte, Don Ottavio in Don Giovanni, Idamante in Idomeneo, and Almaviva in I Barbiere di Siviglia. He has performed with Asheville Lyric Opera, Opera Naples, Opera Roanoke, Opera Tampa, St. Petersburg Opera, Concert Opera of Philadelphia, Summer Opera Theater, the 20th Century Consort, the Washington Savoyards, and the Maryland Opera Studio. Mr. Westervelt was a finalist in the 2000 Bethlehem Bach Festival Competition and received the prestigious Virginia Best Adams Fellowship at the Carmel Bach Festival in 2000.

Bass-Baritone Michael Blake O'Hearn has been hailed by critics for his abundance of personality, his authoritative singing and acting, and his wide impressive range and rich low tones. He has been featured with the NYCO National Company, Atlanta Opera, Augusta Opera, Bronx Opera, Tulsa Opera, Sarasota Opera, Opera Carolina, Piedmont Opera, DiCapo Opera Theater, National Lyric Opera, Mississippi Opera, Little Orchestra Society of New York, Amarillo Opera and the American Symphony Orchestra. Mr. O'Hearn also has an impressive operetta repertoire ranging from Gilbert & Sullivan to Sondheim. He has performed the roles of Don Alhambra in Gondoliers, Pooh-Bah in The Mikado, Lord Mountararat in Iolanthe, Sir Roderic in Ruddigore, Larry in Company, Sir Sagramore in Camelot, Baron Zeta in The Merry Widow, and Dr. Engel in Student Prince. Equally at home on the concert stage, Mr. O’Hearn has been often featured in performances of Mendelssohn’s Elijah and Saint Paul, Handel’s Messiah and the requiems of Brahms, Mozart and Verdi. Mr. O'Hearn attended Georgia State University, continued his studies with the American Institute of Musical Studies in Graz, Austria, and participated in the Sarasota Opera Association Apprentice Program. He has been a finalist and prize winner in the AIMS Meistersinger Competition and received the Choral Guild of Atlanta Fellowship for eight continuous seasons. Mr. O'Hearn can be heard on the Grammy Award winning recording of Oedipus Tex and other Choral Calamities by PDQ Bach on Telarc, and Stravinsky's Les Noces and A Christmas Potpourri both on Newport Classics.

Conductor Michael C. Haigler has served as Artistic Director of Concerts at Christ Church for the past four years and also holds positions as Chorus Master and Assistant Conductor of the Bronx Opera Company, Assistant Conductor of the Orchestra of the Bronx, and Music Director of “Festival 56”, a summer theater festival in Princeton Illinois. A native of Atlanta, he graduated magna cum laude from the Eastman School of Music in Rochester, NY, and moved to New York City in 2001. In the years since he has been active in opera, conducting productions with Brooklyn

Opera, Riverside Opera (Staten Island), The New York Metro Vocal Arts Ensemble (NYC), and the Lehman College Drama Department (Bronx). In May of this year he made his conducting debut with the Bronx Opera in Donizetti’s comedy Don Pasquale, and is thrilled to conclude the most exciting season of his life today. Other recent credits include the Atlanta Opera Studio (GA), Sarasota Opera (FL), the Sarasota Pops Orchestra, Knoxville Opera (TN), and Virginia Opera. Upcoming productions include Handel’s Messiah at Leonia Presbyterian Church in New Jersey (December 2010), and Forever Plaid, Dames at Sea, and Lucky Stiff with Festival 56 (summer 2010). In 2001 Mr. Haigler was honored to be chosen as one of eight conductors out of over 350 applicants as a finalist in Lorin Maazel’s International conducting competition. Also an active

composer, he has received commissions from the Goliard Chamber Ensemble (Queens), the Yale University Bluedogs (CT), and Irving Park Lutheran Church in Chicago. In addition to his church duties at Christ Church, Mr. Haigler also currently serves as hymnody editor of Synthesis, a monthly liturgical publication for clergy and church musicians.
