JUNGLE WARFAREWe start with a battle hymn. I and the four other warriors gather around a Spanish hymnal and belt out a song. It’s an upbeat one that speaks of working in the “vine-yard of the Lord”. As we sing, a certain energy runs through the group. An en-ergy that only comes from knowing you are about to step out onto the front lines and do battle. And it’s not just any battle, but one against “principalities and pow-ers and rulers of darkness.” When I read verses like that, I wonder what I’ve gotten myself into. Yes, a battle song is definitely necessary.

EducationMatters

Our plan centers around education. Through AMOR Project’s experi-ence of medical work in river communities, we have been able to note many of Peru’s common health problems. These problems are intimately associ-ated with low levels of education and extreme poverty. For this reason AMOR Projects has decided upon implementation of Touch of Love. Touch of Love

Targets the creation of an agro-industrial trade school with the goal to improve technical-industrial education and by this means achieve better economic and health levels. Through the creation of an agro-industrial school, the villagers will receive increased knowledge of managing and marketing resources. In this manner Touch of Love will be able to im-prove the economy and health of individuals and village communities.

Through the creation of a clinic, Touch of Love will also target improved health conditions whose objective is to attend regions of greatest need. This goal will be accomplished through mobile medical groups effect-ing campaigns in different areas. The medical base and centre of activities will be located at the Km. 38 project site, providing medical and specialized services (among these surgeries and hospitalization for serious cases).

AMOR Projects places a high pri-ority on the physical health and well being of Peruvian villagers living in poverty. Their goal is to alleviate illness and ease suffer-ing through free medical care and health education, making their services accessible to those in greatest need. AMOR currently provides medical care through regular mobile clinics. During these campaigns, the medical team performs general medicine consults, minor surgeries, and dental extractions. All medical consultations, treatments, and medications are provided free of charge. Such care is made pos-sible because of dedicated spon-sors who believe in and support the ministry.

Touch of Love has developed the areas of agriculture and bee farming over the past year of 2007-2008. As resources allow ex-pansion, specialties will be added until full completion. Projected specialties may still change and be adapted to best suit found needs within the population served.

Areas of Study Include:• Bee farming• Fish farming• Agriculture• Carpentry• Dairy• And much more!

Volunteers are welcomed and encouraged to visit the project site, scheduling trips from days to months in length. Long term volunteers are also needed. For those who are unable to visit Peru but are interested in being personally involved, AMOR Projects will work to find a niche where the volunteer’s talents are utilized from the States.
