I tell you, brothers and sisters, the time is running out. From now on, let those having wives act as not having them, those weeping as not weeping, those rejoicing as not rejoicing, those buying as not owning, those using the world as not using it fully. For the world in its present form is passing away.

Hermanos: Les quiero decir una cosa: la vida es corta. Por tanto, conviene que los casados vivan como si no lo estuvieran; los que sufren, como si no sufrieran; los que están alegres, como si no se alegraran; los que compran, como si no compra-ran; los que disfrutan del mundo, como si no dis-frutaran de él; porque este mundo que vemos es pasajero. .

EVANGELIO MC 1:14-20

Después de que arrestaron a Juan el Bautista, Jesús se fue a Galilea para predicar el Evangelio de Dios y decía: “Se ha cumplido el tiempo y el Reino de Dios ya está cerca. Arrepiéntanse y crean en el Evangelio”.

Caminaba Jesús por la orilla del lago de Galilea, cuando vio a Simón y a su hermano, Andrés, echando las redes en el lago, pues eran pescado-res. Jesús les dijo: “Síganme y haré de ustedes pescadores de hombres”. Inmediatamente dejaron las redes y lo siguieron.

Un poco más adelante, vio a Santiago y a Juan, hijos de Zebedeo, que estaban en una barca, re-mendando sus redes. Los llamó, y ellos, dejando en la barca a su padre con los trabajadores, se fueron con Jesús.

En aquellos días, el Señor volvió a hablar a Jonás y le dijo: “Levántate y vete a Nínive, la gran capital, para anunciar ahí el mensaje que te voy a indicar”. Se levantó Jonás y se fue a Nínive, como le había mandado el Señor. Nínive era una ciudad enorme: hacían falta tres días para recorrerla. Jonás caminó por la ciudad durante un día, pregonando: “Dentro de cuarenta días Nínive será destruida”. Los ninivitas creyeron en Dios, ordenaron un ayuno y se vistieron de sayal, grandes y pequeños. Cuando Dios vio sus obras y cómo se convertían de su mala vida, cambió de parecer y no les mandó el castigo que había determinado imponerles.

After John had been arrested, Jesus came to Galilee proclaiming the gospel of God:“This is the time of fulfillment. The kingdom of God is at hand. Repent, and believe in the gospel.”

As he passed by the Sea of Galilee, he saw Simon and his brother Andrew casting their nets into the sea; they were fishermen. Jesus said to them, “Come after me, and I will make you fishers of men.” Then they abandoned their nets and followed him. He walked along a little farther and saw James, the son of Zeb-edee, and his brother John. They too were in a boat mending their nets. Then he called them. So they left their father Zebedee in the boat along with the hired men and followed him.

The word of the LORD came to Jonah, saying: “Set out for the great city of Nineveh, and an-nounce to it the message that I will tell you.” So Jonah made ready and went to Nineveh, ac-cording to the LORD’S bidding. Now Nineveh was an enormously large city; it took three days to go through it. Jonah began his journey through the city, and had gone but a single day’s walk announcing, “Forty days more and Nineveh shall be destroyed, “ when the people of Nineveh believed God; they proclaimed a fast and all of them, great and small, put on sackcloth. When God saw by their actions how they turned from their evil way, he repented of the evil that he had threatened to do to them; he did not carry it out.

Dear parishioners of Immaculate Conception,

The grace and peace of God the Father and the

Lord Jesus Christ be with you. I want to thank all of

you for your Christmas cards and gifts. Also, when I

got sick, I received a lot of encouragement from

many of you. I am very grateful for your generosity

and concern. During the Lenten season, we will start

a time of fasting and prayer on Tuesday, February

23. Mainly, I invite you to pray in front of the Blessed

Sacrament. This will bring us together to reflect on

the Lordship of Christ in our lives. It will be a great

way to bring unity to the parish as we support one

another. In the following weeks, we will have more

information. In addition, I encourage you to sign up

on the parish website for the virtual marriage enrich-

ment program. It will be three one-hour sessions on

three consecutive Fridays (January 29, February 5,

and February 12) at 7:00 p.m.

Queridos feligreses de la Inmaculada Concepción,

La gracia y la paz de Dios Padre y del Señor Jesu-

cristo estén con ustedes. Quiero agradecerles a

todos para sus tarjetas y regalos de Navidad. Ade-

más, cuando me enfermé, muchos de ustedes me

animaron mucho. Estoy muy agradecido por su ge-

nerosidad y preocupación. Durante el tiempo de

Cuaresma, comenzaremos un tiempo de ayuno y

oración el martes 23 de febrero. Especialmente, los

invito a orar frente al Santísimo Sacramento. Esto

nos unirá para reflexionar sobre el señorío de Cristo

en nuestras vidas. Será una gran manera de traer

unidad en la parroquia mientras nos apoyamos

unos a otros. En las próximas semanas tendremos

más información. También, los animo a que se re-

gistren en el sitio web de la parroquia para el pro-

grama de enriquecimiento del matrimonio virtual.

Serán tres sesiones de una hora en tres viernes

consecutivos (29 de enero, 5 de febrero y 12 de

febrero) a las 7:00 p.m.
