In addition, the building sectionally unifies Spring Garden Bridge and West River Drive with a new river front parkscape by providing walking connections between the different elevations. Encouraging Public Interaction with the Schuylkill River The proposed Tidal park is a slopped terraced landscape between the Science Center and the River intends to function beyond recreation. This element will serve as a visual education tool as the tidal waters of the lower Schuylkill River recede and rise daily 6 - 8 ft in a 12 hour period. The vertical rise will trans- form the occupiable space along the waters edge and clearly depict the tidal movement due to form of the plinth. Educating the Citizens of Philadelphia Through Program Overlaps and Civic Exposure The success of this civic gesture will result from programmatic adjacencies and visual exchange between space and use types. While maintaining circulation seperations between the public spaces and controlled access science spaces the budling’s from utilizes section to provide visual connection while preserving security. This programmatic overlap and visual connection is not only educational for the public but promotional for the scientist as they now receive a place amongts the great civic buildings in the city.
