  • Thermit-oxy lance is a specialized tool ideally suited for use in foundries. It has many and varied maintenance used ; such as repairing machinery, piercing pins, cutting shafts, and bearings, and cleaning slag boxes. Where the risers are on the inside of a casting such as in wheel casting there is a definite application for Thermit-oxy lance. Cut-off saws are much too large to fit in the inside of these casting. Therefore, a small saw and gouge is used to partially sever the casting. It is then pounded with a sledge hammer to knock it off. This process is very time consuming. A great many blades are required and they are extremely expensive.Other specific uses for Thermit-oxy lance in foundry shop.1. RisersThermit-oxy lance can be used to remove risers.2.Tap holesIf the spout is closed and needs to be tapped. Thermit-oxy lance can tap it in a fraction of the time that any other system required.3.Ladle and vessel clean-outWhen slag or metal builds up on the inside of a ladle or vessel. It must be removed to continue the operation. Thermit-oxy lance penetrate and cut the mass for easy removal.4.CupolaWhen metal solidifies in a cupola. Thermit-oxy lance will cut it and facilitate removal.5.Furnace alteration or dismantlingMajor cuts can be made precisely and rapidly.6.Piercing and cutting fire-brickThermit-oxy lance will pierce this material quicker than any other method.7.Skulls or button cuttingPieces can be cut into manageable sizes.8.Monkey removal INGOTS.Once a furnace is tapped, the flow of molten metal cannot be stopped. If a receptical or mold is not available to receive the flow of metal, the mass is directed into a slag pile. This creates a massive piece of metal which called MONKEY. Thermit-oxy lance can be used to cut this unmanageable form into reclaimable pieces that can be remelted.9.Cobble cuttingThermit-oxy lance allows production to quickly resume when a jam occurs. This mass of metallic spaghetti can be readily cut to remove the stoppage.

  • Other applications

    1.Machine shops General heavy repair.Thermit-oxy lance is used to remove heavy gears from miscellaneous machinery. It is also a real plus when gouging cast iron, steel, or manganese without depositing carbon on the surface of the cut metals.A field maintenance is way ahead of the game if they can do the work without having to haul a four or five ton piece of equipment into their repair shop to do the work. Thermit-oxy lance is possible.

    2.Boiler repair and re-buildingI. Cutting or dismantling oil boilers with a scale build-up make them difficult to dismantle.This scale also produces certain gassing problems when cutting with an oxy-acetylene torch.II.Slag build-up on the inside walls of wet bottom boilers.Huge chunks of this slag periodically break off and lodge in the neck of the funnel. These pieces block the bottom ash hopper and prevent the small particles of slag from being carried into the clinker grinder for removal. The operation of the boiler stops and the huge pieces of slag are very difficult to remove. The current removal method is by using jack hammers. Thermit-oxy lance will cut the slag and eliminate these time consuming methods.

    3.City water departments/ Utility companiesThermit-oxy lance provides a method for cutting/melting both iron pipe and the grout liner at the same time in transmission lines.

  • 4.Sewage treatment plantsRepairing hammer devices which are stainless steel, cast iron valves which previously could not be cut.Thermit-oxy lance rods burn in damp atmospheres, even when submerged in mud or water. This advantage over other type of equipment.
