It’s time for residents to rustle-up a good time, western style! Circle up your wagons on Friday, October 13 and follow the tumbleweed to the Vistas Park for Wild West Fall Fest. The highlight

of this fun-fi lled evening will be a free concert from country-music band, “Ghostlight.” Bring your low-back chair or blanket,

pack a picnic and enjoy the sounds of this hometown favorite band beginning at 6 p.m. Please note that alcohol and glass containers are not permitted at the Vistas Park. In addition to the free concert, residents can purchase wristbands and saddle up for a mechanical bull ride, try their hand at “calf-roping,” pan for “gold,” visit the petting zoo and much more. Wristbands may be purchased in advance for $5 each at the Trails, Willows, Gardens and Vistas Community Centers. Day-of passes are $8 each and will be sold at the Vistas Park beginning at 4:30 p.m. (Proof of residency is required.) For more information, please call 702.341.5500. Fall is right around the corner and that means it’s pumpkin-picking time! Whether you’re decorating your home, carving pumpkins with the kids, or making your famous pumpkin pie, the Summerlin Pumpkin Patch

off ers fresh-from-the-farm pumpkins for choosing. To guarantee a pumpkin, residents may purchase a pre-sale Pumpkin Patch ticket at the Trails, Willows, Gardens and Vistas Community Centers for $5 per pumpkin. Each pre-sold pumpkin may be redeemed by coupon at the Summerlin Pumpkin Patch on October 12 and 13 from 3 to 7 p.m. each day. Pumpkins may be purchased at the patch for $7 each as availability permits. (Proof of residency required.)

Winter is knocking at your door to announce the annual Hometown Holidays event on November 29 and 30 from 6 to 8:30 p.m. at the Gardens Community Center and Park. Summerlin has all sorts of festivities in store, and spreading holiday cheer is just the

beginning of this two-day celebration. Residents will enjoy a variety of holiday activities including cookie decorating, reindeer rides, visits with Santa, holiday music, and much more. Vistas Pool

Celebrate the season with an ice-cold splash! The Summerlin Council is proud to present Polar Plunge supporting the Las Vegas Rescue Mission. We’re looking for individuals brave enough to jump into the icy waters of the Vistas Pool on December 8 at 6 p.m. and get the “chill” of a lifetime!

All participants who successfully complete the plunge, which includes jumping into the unheated waters and crossing the length of the pool, receive a souvenir item commemorating their adventure. Registration is $5, or will be waived by donating a bag of canned foods, hygiene products, or infant products to support the Las Vegas Rescue Mission. Sign-ups begins November 27 at the Trails, Willows, Gardens or Vistas Community Centers. For more information, call 702.341.5500.

Rise and shine for the annual “Pajama Character Breakfast Bash!” Come dressed in your bedtime best to the Vistas Community Center and join a few of your favorite characters

on Saturday, November 11 at 9 a.m. A delicious breakfast buff et of scrambled eggs, bacon, hash browns, pancakes, fruit, yogurt and pastries will be served. As you dine, characters will visit your table to take pictures with their fans. After breakfast, make more fantastic memories and take part in fun and games with your new-found friends. CHINESE DANCE CLASSThis class will teach diff erent styles of Classical Chinese Dance with a variety of oriental choreography.  The instructor, who has a college degree in ballet, is one of the directors and representatives of the local CCTV outlet and has long been involved in organizing various programs for local events. Although not required, it is recommended, that students have some past dance experience in classic dance forms, and are adept at dancing.

Hip Hop dance requires students to have the strength and stamina to successfully perform moves so class will include upper and lower body conditioning as well as a rigorous warm-up. A

Students are guided age appropriately through

COMEDY FU ACTING “FAIRYTALE ALIVE” with MOVE PERFORMING ARTS Bring fairytales to life with Comedy Fu’s professional training program for youth that want to take the stage. Each session will work on a one act play that allows the student to grow their performing skills in straight theater all the way to musical theater. Each workshop session will work on the actors improvisational skills as well as acting and musical theater skills. Comedy Fu provides a safe and fun enviro nment where the kids can explore their acting skills and build self-esteem. Come and laugh like you have never laughed before! A showcase for

friends and family will be held on December 16 at the Vistas

DOG OBEDIENCE, AGILITY, THERAPY AND MORE! All dogs require training and, as a pet parent, it is your responsibility to give it to them! Group training off ers unique benefi ts for dogs and handlers and is a fun and aff ordable way to get the job done. This class will increase your

dog’s social skills on the go and at home as they interact with other dogs and people. Group classes also teach your dog increased obedience under high levels of distraction as you train in a real world environment. Your confi dence in your skills as a handler will increase and you’ll know what to do when the unexpected happens. Each session starts with a bonus in-depth orientation just for the handlers to answer questions, review equipment and go over tips and techniques to prepare your dog for class. PILATES GROUP REFORMER CLASSES—“RE-FORM” YOUR BODY

Beginning Pilates: Learn about Pilates in this beginning level class. You will be taught to operate your Balanced Body IQ Reformer safely, apply six basic principles of Pilates, understand the Pilates language and perform a group of beginning exercises that are the building blocks of an eff ective Pilates workout. JIU-JITSU BEGINNING MARTIAL ARTS PROGRAM Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu is a martial art, combat sport and self-defense system that is one of the most popular and fastest growing activities today. This art form emphasizes ground fi ghting techniques which involve various chokes and joint locks used to dominate and submit the attacker. LITTLE LIONS CHILDREN’S BEGINNERS MARTIAL ARTS PROGRAM

Our Little Lions class is a great way for children fi ve to seven years of age to learn the ABCs of self-defense, gain anti-bullying skills and be introduced to the multi-cultural martial arts systems. Studies

have shown that during pre-school and early elementary school years, children are building eight fundamental skills that are essential to their growth and development. These skills include focus, honor, teamwork, control, memory, balance, discipline, fi tness and coordination. The Little Lions program targets these skills, along with other disciplines of listening, respect and courtesy through a comprehensive training system that is specifi cally designed to generate maximum results. The exercise and physical fundamentals incorporated into the program are challenging and a great way for students to gain fl exibility, balance, strength, self-confi dence and self-esteem. We also understand the importance of fun and variety to maintain high interest and participation. Any child who completes this program may have a developmental edge in their early childhood which can make the transition into adolescence much easier. Parents who are interested in getting a great workout and learning self-defense alongside their children are welcome to take the class for an additional fee of $20. c. A $15 fee is charged on returned checks.d. The Summerlin Council reserves the right to cancel any

class should it fail to meet enrollment minimums. If a class or program is canceled by The Summerlin Council, a refund will be processed (unless otherwise noted).

e. The Summerlin Council does not prorate any class due to late registration or absence from class (unless otherwise noted).

f. Times, dates, and locations are subject to change without notice.

g. Each class has preset minimums and maximums determined by the instructor and/or The Summerlin Council according to availability and/or facility limitations. Please register early to ensure your enrollment.

4. Cancellations must be made in writing and submitted to The Summerlin Council at either the Trails, Willows or Gardens Community Centers, by fax at 256-1670, or by Email at [email protected]. Cancellations will not be accepted by phone. All cancellations will incur one of the following penalties towards the tuition refund:

a. Cancellations made prior to the fi rst day of class will result in a $5 administrative penalty.

b. Cancellations made within 7 days following the fi rst class will result in a tuition refund of 75%.

c. Cancellations made 8 - 14 days following the fi rst class will result in a tuition refund of 50%.

d. No refunds will be given 14 days after the fi rst class.5. When possible, special accommodations for persons with
