CAMPUS SAFETY & SECURITY Living on campus provides you with increased peace of mind. NJIT maintains a comprehensive public safety program, including a professional, commissioned police department on duty 24 hours a day, as well as camera systems monitoring access points around campus and within the residence halls. In addition, Public Safety Officers patrol the campus around the clock. Patrols are conducted on foot, in cars and on bicycles. NJIT students use swipe cards for access to their residence halls. Desk attendants are on duty 24 hours a day and provide security for the residence halls by monitoring entrances and swiping resident IDs. COST OF LIVING ON CAMPUSn Cypress, Laurel, Oak, and Redwood housing

rates begin at $4,555 per semester.

n The Honors Residence begins at $4,670.

n Triple rooms begin at $3,265 per semester.

n Single rooms begin at $5,005 per semester.

n Twelve-month housing contracts are available for an additional charge of $1,050 per semester.

Meal plan optionsFreshmen and sophomores are required to purchase a meal plan, selecting a plan from the list of A to E below:

• A Plan: Unlimited, Continuous Dining, 5 Guest entries / semester - $1,944• B Plan: Unlimited, Continuous Dining, 5 Guest entries / semester, 100 flex points - $2,044• C Plan: Unlimited, Continuous Dining, 5 Guest entries / semester, 200 flex points - $2,144• E Plan: Unlimited, Continuous Dining, 5 Guest entries / semester, 600 flex points - $2,544

Meal Plans F to H are available for juniors and seniors:

• F Plan: 80 entries per semester, 5 Guest meals, 400 flex points - $1,376• G Plan: 1,114 flex points ($300 fixed expenses) - $1,414• H Plan: 80 entries per semester, 5 Guest meals - $976• J Plan: 5 meals a week, breakfast or lunch - $764

The amount of your meal plan will be encoded onto your student ID card. Meal plans are subject to change. All of the meal plan rates apply to the 2019-2020 academic year.

Living on campus is the ultimate way to experience college life!

Almost 2,000 students, and nearly 50 percent of first-year students, live on NJIT’s campus in five co-ed residence communities and the Greek Village. Eligible first-year students can request to live in the Albert Dorman Honors College, Cypress or Redwood Halls. Upper-class students live in all residential communities.

Rooms are fully furnished, air-conditioned, wireless and wired for internet and cable TV. Each residence hall has common areas and facilities including:• Study Areas • Game Room and Lounges• Kitchens • Recreational Equipment• Laundry Rooms • Snack and Beverage MachinesMail service is available Monday through Friday. Living learning communitiesLiving Learning Communities provide an environment that enhances motivation to learn, stimulates learning in specific areas of interest and offers opportunities to work closely with staff and faculty members.Current Living Learning Communities include:• Architecture and Design • Engineering • Honors

Living Learning Communities allow students to:• Network with other students and their professors.• Collaborate with peers on projects in and outside of class.• Develop an understanding of how their learning experiences relate to their career goals.• Become involved in active learning experiences, including co-operative learning, service learning and research projects.

deposit. Applications for first-year students

After May 1, housing is assigned based on

the distance you live from campus, need

CYPRESS HALLA suite-style building with approximately 420 first-year and upper-class students living in single and double rooms. Suites include two bedrooms, a shared bathroom and foyer.

HONORS HALLOpened in 2013, this hall houses 360 honors students and is home to Albert Dorman Honors College, convenience store and fitness center. The six-floor hall is comprised of suite-style double rooms and single rooms.

OAK HALLApproximately 186 upper-class and graduate students live in suite-style rooms and apartments. Each suite-style room is double occupancy with a kitchenette and shared bathroom. Each apartment has a kitchen, living room and bathroom.

GREEK VILLAGEGreek Village consists of eight houses for 192 members of fraternities and sororities in two-person suites. Each suite has a shared bathroom. All rooms are furnished with a bed, dresser, desk, chair and lamp for each student.

LAUREL HALLA suite-style building with approximately 570 upper-class and graduate students living in single and double rooms. Suites have a shared bathroom and foyer.

REDWOOD HALLApproximately 195 first-year and upper-class students live in single and double rooms. Residents share two (gender-specific) community bathrooms on each floor.
