Psalm 1

Blessed is the man who does not walk in the counsel of the wicked or stand in the way of sinners or sit in the seat of mockers. 2 But his delight is in the law of the LORD, and on his law he meditates day and night. 3 He is like a tree planted by streams of water, which yields its fruit in season and whose leaf does not wither. Whatever he does prospers.

Psalm 1:4–6

4 Not so the wicked! They are like chaff that the wind blows away. 5 Therefore the wicked will not stand in the judgment, nor sinners in the assembly of the righteous. 6 For the LORD watches over the way of the righteous, but the way of the wicked will perish.

Oh, the joys of those who do not follow the advice of the wicked, or stand around with sinners, or join in with mockers. 2 But they

delight in the law of the LORD, meditating on it day and night. 3 They are like trees planted

along the riverbank, bearing fruit each season. Their leaves never wither, and they

prosper in all they do.

One Year Bible Reading Plan, based on the M'Cheyne Bible reading planRobert Murray M'Cheyne was an early 19th century pastor and preacher in Scotland. Amongst his legacy is a well-known scheme for daily Bible reading. In its original formulation it takes the reader through the Old Testament once and the New Testament and Psalms twice per year. This means reading about four chapters a day, taken from different parts of the Bible. Readings are divided into parts, one designated as a “Family” reading and one for “Private”.

Don Carson has published in two volumes For the Love of God, excellent daily meditations on the readings. The daily meditations are also available online at http://thegospelcoalition.org/blogs/loveofgod/.

Through The Bible In A Year

This reading is divided into a morning and evening reading. In the morning, you will be asked to read a section of the Old Testament. In the evening, it will be a New Testament portion of scripture. Using this guide, you will read the entire Old Testament and New Testament one per year.

Through The Bible In A Year: Chronological Arrangement

The order in which the schedule lists the books is not the order in which they occur in the Bible, but is a chronological arrangement. The poetic and prophetic books of the Old Testament are inserted in the historical books at about the point in the narrative where they are thought to have been written. In like manner the epistles of the New Testament are inserted in the narrative of the book of Acts. While there is some difference of opinion as to details, the chronological arrangement used here is acceptable to leading conservative Bible Scholars. Using this plan, you will read the entire Bible once per year.
