* FSOG promotes classical singing. No belting will be allowed as it can damage your young voice. On your application, teachers must sign off on all selections as to the appropriateness for your voice and training.
• Age-appropriate repertoire is suggested. High School Singers should not sing extensive arias from major operatic works. Major arias from Grand Opera will not be approved for high school repertoire.
• One aria from an opera or operetta from standard vocal literature.
• All other arias must be approved by competition committee.
• Arias, such as a selection from Twenty-Four Italian Arias (Hal Leonard), would be a good challenge.
• Two art songs (with at least one of them in Italian); both can be in Italian or one in Italian and the other one in English, French, Latin, or German.
• Other literatures from which you can make your selections are:
• Joan Boytim’s First Book Series, et. al.
