NO Evening Service or Activities Tonight Wednesday Evening, 6:15 PM – Discipleship Bible Study led by Cal Sayles (Bullock-Matthews Room) ANNOUNCEMENTS AND UPCOMING EVENTS ADULT VACATION BIBLE SCHOOL SUNDAY EVENING, JULY 24 through THURSDAY EVENING, JULY 28 This year our study will be based on the book by Adam Hamilton entitled “HALF TRUTHS”. We will begin with a light dinner at 6:00 PM in McDowell Hall followed by our group Bible study, table talk and our mission emphasis. Check out the Adult VBS display in the Bullock-Matthews Hallway for additional information on our mission projects and mission presenters for the week. HELP OUR YOUTH GOING ON A MISSION THIS SUMMER – We are currently raising money for our summer trip to Canada. Here’s how you can help. There are only 26 envelopes left on the Family Ministry Bulletin Board, each with a dollar amount from $27.00 to $92.00 on the outside. 1) Take an envelope off the board. 2) Place the amount of money inside the envelope (cash or check to JHBC). 3) Place the envelope in the gray box on the bottom left hand corner of the Family Ministry Bulletin Board. SENIOR ADULT TRIP is scheduled for Wednesday, July 20. We will leave the church at 9:45 AM and travel to the Farmer’s Market in Raleigh and then have lunch. A sign up sheet has been posted on the Family Ministry Bulletin Board. BAPTIST MEN – Due to a conflict with Adult Vacation Bible School on Monday, July 25, Baptist Men will NOT meet in July, but will resume in August. SANDI PATTY FAREWELL TOUR CONCERT on Saturday, September 17 at 7:30PM in McGregor Hall, Henderson, NC. Cost is $89 per person includes concert ticket and Holiday Tours bus travel. Money or check payable to Sandy Brown must be paid no later than Wednesday, July 27. Time of departure and other information will be coming soon. However, we need 40 people to secure our bus travel. It seems too hot to think about Christmas just yet, but JHBC will begin collecting OCC Shoeboxes in just a few short weeks! National Collection Week is November 14-21, and we need your help! This year, we would like each family to pack a box (or boxes) so that you can share this beautiful mission opportunity with your family. We will also accept items to pack in the boxes, as well as monetary donations for shipping. Please plan to help make this the best OCC season our church has ever seen! School supplies are super cheap right now, and they are perfect items for shoeboxes! If you have questions, please see Alice Gilchrist, Kathy Waters, or Kelley Desjarlais (919-356-6697). Children’s Ministry Youth & Children Puddle Kickball on Wednesday, July 20 – 6:00 – 8:00 PM. We’re playing kickball with kid pools and slip-n-slides! Wear something you don’t mind getting wet in. LIFE LINE SCREENING AT JHBC - MONDAY, AUGUST 8 - Life Line Screening, a leading provider of community-based preventive health screenings, is pleased to offer a preventive health event at Jonesboro Heights Baptist Church on August 8, 2016. Five screenings will be offered that scan for potential health problems related to: blocked arteries which is a leading cause of stroke; abdominal aortic aneurysms which can lead to a ruptured aorta; hardening of the arteries in the legs which is a strong predictor of heart disease; atrial fibrillation or irregular heart beat which is closely tied to stroke risk; and a bone density screening, for men and women, used to assess the risk of osteoporosis. Register for a Wellness Package which includes 4 vascular tests and osteoporosis screening from $149 ($139 with our member discount). All five screenings take 60-90 minutes to complete.
