T here are some people who have intense love forspiritualism but that brand of spiritualism is not constitutedof pure spirituality. It has streaks of materialism of onesort or the other. No doubt, these people engage themselves inspiritual practices and persuade others also to have spiritualityin their life but still their own mind is tied in knots of materialism. It is a fact that they devote their time and energy in propagatingspirituality and are dedicated to high ideals but their mannersand methods and their hopes and aspirations clearly reflect somespecial kind of materialism. It is true that they understand thebenefits of soul-consciousness and advise others to give up body-consciousness and they themselves also practise soul-consciousness but, in their zeal to spread spiritualism, they havetheir eyes set on those people who have money and materialgoods so that their money and material things can be used forthe spread of spiritualism. They always seek an occasion whenthey can motivate and prompt rich people to contribute liberallytowards preaching spiritualism in various ways.

But in doing this, their intent is not wholly spiritualistic but ithas always a touch of worldly ambition, for they have hidden

desire for glory and praise. These people have a strong desire toown big ashrams and to have things on grand scale so that theyare known far and wide as spiritual overlords.

These people hold big congregations and mass gatherings;people in large numbers come there to listen to their discoursesand to have community dinner. But the purpose of holding thesemass-scale programmes is not to spread waves and vibrationsof spirituality, but to have a large number of people who remainin their fold. Thus, they have desire for name and fame andmaterial abundance. In this sense, they are protagonists of spiritual materialism or materialistic spiritualism.

These people embarked on their spiritual journey or careerby just being seekers- after-truth or being simple spiritualpractitioners. At that time, they did not have any slight or strongambition to own and run big ashrams for their own glorification. They did not have even a faint idea of collecting huge sums of money. But, as they marched forward on the path and the people

    FINDING GOD BENEFIT FOR ALL

M ost of the TVChannels, news-papers and othermedia resources have beenflashing the great news about theGod Particle having beendiscovered by scientists inCERN, an underground nuclearresearch centre (the worldsbiggest) on the border of Switzerland and France. Thediscovery is attributed to Prof Peter Higgs of EdinburgUniversity and the Indianscientist, Satyandra Nath Bosewho had proposed themechanism that predicted sucha particle in 1964. The newboson is said to be consistentwith the Higgs boson, andCERN have noted that furtherdata and analysis were neededbefore the particle could bepositively identified. The entirehumanity is so happy with thisnew development, which willperhaps even help intransformation of atheists intobelievers of God.

The great saints and scholarsof ancient Bharat spent ages indifferent kinds of meditativepractices to realize the self andGod. On the basis of theirrespective reflections andexperiences, they wrote

volumes after volumes of ancient scriptures. However, humans continued their searchfor God. Most devotees wouldfeel elated on receiving newsof this latest discovery, however, chances are theywont be able to understand, realize and benefit fully to theextent of their existingexpectations. They are neitherable to visualize nor relate withGod to receive any sort of peace and solace as has alwaysbeen expected from theSupreme Divine Energy.Merely by naming a new-foundparticle can in no way play therole of God, the SupremeParent of All.

According to Gods ownpromise, He reveals Himself directly to His human creationat the appropriate time. Godsways are true but very strange, and can only be understoodwhen He descends andbestows Divine Understandinghuman souls, His eternalspiritual creation. The Creatorand Creation are eternal andthe exact knowledge of both, when revealed, becomes aneye-opener or astoundingrevelation for the whole world.

It was in the year 1936-37

when the most auspicious timefor Gods descent onto theeternal World Drama stagedawned Supreme Soul,

Supreme Father God Shiv, onthe most auspicious MahaShivratri of 1936, descendedfor the first time and bestoweddivine visions upon His chosen, worthy medium, Dada Lekhraj, who was later given the divinename, Prajapita Brahma.Following God Shivas Shrimat ,Dada left no stone unturned inglorifying and revealing theSupreme Father to the world, thereby bringing greatestbenefit to all.

Gods ways are unusual andunique, but very clearly defined,so that even ordinary peoplecan perceive, understand, practise and receive benefitfrom achieving Mu kt i(liberation from vices, peacelessness and sorrow) and

Jeevan-Mukti (living a life of health, wealth and happinessfree from bondages). How cananyone find God and takebenefit unless God Himself bestows divine insight anddivine intellect? Once anindividual receives His blessingsin the form of spiritual wisdom, moulds ones consciousnesstowards righteousness, andstarts practising Godlyprinciples, then only will oneskarma become elevated.Without having properconnection or yoga , neither can

one derive inner strength orregain original pristine purity inlife, nor become His worthy

child and regain the lost paradiseand divine royal status with100% purity, peace, health, wealth and happiness. With allof the above, one becomesworthy of regaining the golden-aged Jeevan Mukti status of 21 successive lives in Satyugaand Tretayuga .

Let us enrich our lives by contemplating on spiritual

wisdom from one of thelatest Godly versions (Murli)i.e. Versions of the Supreme

Teacher through the Medium of Prajapita

Brahma: In order to be victorious inthe boxing match with

Maya/Ravan (negativity),let the intellect always focuson the fact that you have

been victorious cycle after cycle. Donate the five vicesof lust, anger, greed,

attachment and ego toconquer Ravan. You have now forged the

spiritual relationship withGod, while previously youwere bound by Mayasbondages. There is sorrowexperienced in bondagesand happiness inrelationship. This is why wetell God to help break our

bondages and forgerelations of happiness. A dev ote e is one, wh o

remembers God, but thereare hardly any devotees inthe world today, who trulyknow God.Understand that the vices,

like, anger are evil spirits. Donate them to God, but dont take the donation

back, otherwise they willreturn to harass you. Todonate the five vices means

to renounce them. For 63births, you have stumbled around. Now, in this last birth of the cycle, remain

pure as you will earn a great income. You, spiritual children,

understand that the world has to transform, which iswhy the Mahabharat War will take place. Your

intellect has now opened (awakened). You arestanding on the spiritualbattlefield facing Maya.God says, Have complete

yoga (connection) with Me. God, the Supre meFather, will bestow world sovereignty on you inreturn this is no smallmatter.

emerged from a dialogue onCall of Time Receiving GodsPower for Golden Age, held at

the Om Shanti Retreat Centre(ORC). The gathering includedtwo dozen top-level serving andretired bureaucrats, industrialists, politicians andmore than 70 other guests. Also, gracing the occasion, wereDadi Hridaya Mohini, DadiRukmani, B.K. Brij Mohan,B.K. Chakradhari and B.K.Asha.

B.K. Asha, Director of ORCand Chief Host of the event, explained the theme to theguests and urged them to reflecton what was the call of time forthem individually, and then sharetheir thoughts so that everyonecould gain new insights into thissubject.

Before the guests took up the

topic in earnest, Dadi Jankiilluminated it through a videomessage. Dadi Janki askedeveryone to avoid waste andimbibe values: According to thestate of the world, the presenttime is very valuable. Imbibevalues and take benefit of thepresent time. There is loss inwasting time, she said.

If our thoughts are pure andpeaceful, our time is used with

joy in a worthwhile way and weget power from the SupremeSoul. The Supreme Father says, draw powers and virtues from

Me and remove everyonessorrow and give them peaceand happiness. Whoever we

see, remember that everyonehas some quality or speciality. We must not look at the faultsof others, she said.

Referring to MahatmaGandhis message of talk noevil, see no evil and hear noevil, Dadiji said, God tells usto think no evil. When we think no evil, spirituality and divinityenter our life and we becomeinstrumental in lighting the lamps(of awareness) in others.Dont look at, listen to orthink of the past and of thingsthat dont concern you.

In the dialogue that followed, the common thread runningthrough the ideas expressed bythe participants about the call of the present time, was the need

for self-awareness and forimbibing spiritual values. Thespeakers pointed out the failureof the present political, economicand social and educationalsystems to deal with theproblems confronting humanity. They noted that man hadachieved remarkabletechnological progress, but at thesame time had drifted far awayfrom his true, spiritual identity.Contentment, peace, love, tolerance, faith in the self, generosity, determination andself-empowerment were

mentioned by the speakers asthe values needed the most now.

    Underlining the importance of

values, B.K. Chakradhari,Director of Brahma Kumarisactivities in Russia, said, "Weneed to master all virtues andpay attention to picking upvirtues from all. This way wecan make our lives valuable."

Examining the subject of values further, B.K. Brijmohan,Editor, Purity , a monthlymagazine, published by theBrahma Kumaris, said, "Toincrease our stock of spiritualvalues, we first have toempower the soul. When welose power, instead of virtues, negative things start workinginside us. At the present time, the original powers of the soulhave been weakened bynegative impressions. If we

enhanced our spiritual powers, our stock of virtues wouldincrease. And Rajyoga was themethod by which we couldempower the soul in order tobring virtues into our life and dowhat is right.

Dadi Hriday Mohini, thenblessed the audience with herinspiring words. She said theroot cause of suffering in theworld today was that we hadforgotten ourselves and took what was mine (the body) tobe me.

When we forgot that we are

souls, our connection with theSupreme Soul, who is theFather of all souls, was broken,

and vices entered the soul. Asa result, our actions becamemisguided. We must return toour spiritual identity so that wecan re-connect with theSupreme Father, from whomwe receive the inheritance of happiness, peace, love etc.Now is the time when God isgiving us His powers andvirtues, which we can draw

from Him by practising Rajyogameditation, she said.

B.K. Shukla, also a Directorof ORC, then delivered thevote of thanks, after which theparticipants received toli, blessings and gifts from DadiGulzar.

Then, we areable to catch Babas signals. Many just move alongaccording to Gods plan butothers are confused as to whatto do. Just remain peaceful, happy and quiet, knowing thatthe string of your life is, in Godshands.

Is there a Hindi word forGods plan, that is lessbusinesslike? Prabhu

How do we enjoy watching Prabhu Leela ?

Seeing my part, Ihave remained cheerful. See theself, knowing that you arefortunate. Whose child am I? Iam Babas child. It is wonderfulDrama and wonderful Baba.

How does one increaseones faith in Gods plan,

    Prabhu leela ?Faith cannot be increased;

but we have to do everything

with faith. There is (1) bhavna(pure feelings) (2) trust and (3)faith. Trust is instilled whenthere are pure feelings. If I usemy intellect, the work will notget done. In the history of the yagya , we were young innocentchildren and moved fromPakistan to India. We had thisbhavna in Baba that all wouldwork out well. The Sindhicommunity was questioning it,but we never used our intellect;we kept faith. Those who usedtheir intellect, left Baba. I neverhad the thought about whowould feed me. When there isno faith, we miss out on theattainments from bhavna . Weare empowered by faith andtrust. Just keep good wishes and

bhavna; then you can helpmany create their fortune basedon faith. With Bhavna, there isno problem. With faith in theintellect, victory is guaranteed. We just have to stay carefreeand say Wonderful Baba! Hehas given us such greatknowledge.

We are all doing our bestto reveal God and to makesure Gods plan is enactedin the way He wants. Whatare the barriers to this?

We cannot talk about ourplan. Look at the feelings in the

heart of those who want toglorify Baba. They will doeverything with that aim. There

are (1) those who createobstacles, (2) those who areafraid seeing the obstacles and(3) those who finish obstacles. If my own nature is an obstacle,or if I see an obstacle andbecome afraid, how can I revealBaba? Just continue to doBabas work and do not allowobstacles to stop you. It is thedestroyers of obstacles whoreveal Baba. Which categorydo you want to be in? Thosewho are 1st class can overcomeevery situation with faith.

Be stable and unshakeableand then you are able to doservice of the Yagya whilebeing cheerful and everyone ishappy. For this, we receiveBabas love and blessings in an

incognito way. Everythingworks well here; the Yagyacontinues with the power of faith and will continue to do so.Dadiji looked after it very well.Baba looked after it very well. The power of the foundationworks even now. Maintainstability, and do not allowyourself to be caught up inupheaval and fluctuation thenyou will experience so muchattainment; you will feel you arenot missing out on anything andothers will be able to benefittoo.

I was born in a low middleclass family. During initialyears of my childhood, Iused to have the feeling of flyingand jumping in the air. Neitherwas I able to understand itsreason, nor did I ask my parentsabout it. While playing with myfriends or walking on the street,I frequently felt as if I wasflying . As I grew up, this feelingvanished slowly and I also forgotabout it.

As my father had passedaway when I was very young,my mother brought me up. I hadbeen an average student in

school but after joining college,I studied well and passed theEngineering course withhonours. When I was studyingin the third year, one of myfriends showed me the pictureof the Three Worlds andcommented, Hey, you arecoming from Shanti Dham (SoulWorld) to this college to do yourstudies. That was the first timein my life that a B.K. explainedGodly knowledge to me. But atthat time it did not appeal to me.My friends and I used to makefun of the guy who showed us

the picture. After that I forgotthis instance.

Subsequently, I joined IndianInstitute of Science ( I.I.Sc.),Bangalore, to study Master of Engineering in FoundryScience and Engineering. I gotall India First Rank and passedthe course with Distinction. Then I joined IIT, Madras as aLecturer and continued myteaching for about 11 years andleft IIT as Asst. Prof. Duringmy stay in IIT, I was sent toGermany to do my Ph.D. Icompleted my Ph.D in a recordtime of 1 year 8 months. I also

got an award for my work inGermany. I was the first Indianto get an award in Germany.

After leaving IIT, I workedfor several reputed companies, for about 35 years, and finallyretired as Director, R.&D.from Viraj Forgings, Mumbai inthe year 2010.

Throughout my career, Iused to perform worship.Without reciting Gayatri

japam , I would not even drink water. Even while travelling bytrain or plane, I would performGayatri japam before eating

anything. We used to arrange aspecial worship on twooccasions every year at a grandlevel in which all the

neighbouring couples wereinvited for lunch and were givengifts. The two occasions were:Satyanarayana Pooja (twiceor thrice a year) and GaneshChaturthi , once a year. Once, when I was working as G.M. inKlass Engineering, Bangalore,Satyanarayana Pooja was inprogress at my residence. Thepriest was reciting somemantras and we were offeringflowers on the idols. At that timeI realized that we wereperforming so many Poojas(offerings) to God withoutknowing who He is . I felt Ishould see God and talk to Him.This wish of mine grew moreearnest and I started showingthis even in my official work.

In the factory, I was next to theowner in official hierarchy andI could decide day-to-day work-related matters. All subcontractors used to come to meto get their work sanctioned. Atthat time I used to tellthem that if they could showme God , their work would besanctioned. One day, onecontractor came to me and said,Sir, I will show you God, if you give me this work. I signedthe work order. The nextday, he gave me a thick book titled The Holy Name. It was

read that book, I would get God.Taking it very seriously, I

started reading the book with allsincerity, but I could notunderstand anything. When wemet again, I told him angrily thateven after having read thewhole book, I could not seeGod and that he had cheatedme. Then he told me that Iwould not be able to get God

just by reading the book. To seeGod, I should go to a Guru inLudhiana. I was very keen toaccompany him to Ludhiana tomeet the Guru. When I camehome, my wife objected to mytrip commenting there was a lotof unrest and violence inLudhiana at that time. Hence,my trip to Punjab got cancelled.

But my urge to see God andtalk to Him did not diminish ; onthe contrary , it was increasingwith full force. One day I sawan advertisement in Hindunewspaper: Those who wantto see God can contact thefollowing address. Thisadvertisement was from someashram in Bihar. I felt veryhappy and thanked God that Hehad sent the advertisement onlyfor my sake, to satisfy my wish.Immediately I wrote a detailedletter to them giving all myeducational background and

experience indicating mypresent position and telling themthat I was eager to meet God. I

got a very positive and promptreply from them sayingthat they could show God tome, but it would take 3 years. Iwas asked to fill up an enclosedform and to return thatto them with money order forRs 115. I was thrilled and was

jumping with joy. As I had spentso many years searching forGod, waiting for 3 more yearsto meet Him, was not a bigdeal, I thought.

So, I filled in the form, got themoney order ready and kept iton the table to send it. My wifesaw it and started shouting atme. She asked me whether Iwanted to become a sanyasi andleave the family. Afraid whatwould happen to the family if I

leave them and go, she said shewould not allow me to go toBihar. Saying this, she tore theform into pieces and threw it inthe waste paper basket. Mywish to see God again failed likethe gas in the soda water.

So, I continued my routinework, but with a greater innerurge to see God. Days passed. My son, Deepak, (presentlyworking as Senior Manager in3-M India Limited) who wasstudying in an EngineeringCollege in Mysore, came homefor holidays. He used to explore

Bangalore city with his friendsduring holidays. One day, hewent exploring the

Bannerghatta road inBangalore, where he saw acave temple for Anjaneya andthen came to the then newlyconstructed Meenakshi templeon the same road.

After visiting the temple of goddess Meenakshi, he went tosee the 45-feet high ShivaLingam seen from the road, standing majestically. When hewent there, he found that thebuilding had been shaped asShiva Lingam and a pictorialexhibition had been displayedinside it. One sister explained tohim about Soul, God, the EternalWorld Drama and our role etc.Impressed with this novelexplanation, he said to me,Daddy, you have been

searching for God throughoutthe world, but God is here inBangalore itself. He narratedhis experience and urged me togo and visit that place.

The next day, accompaniedby my wife and another friendsfamily, I went to see the ShivaLingam at Gottigere inBangalore. There, one sisterexplained to us the divineknowledge given by God Shiva.I had many doubts and went onasking a lot of questions. Onseeing my interest, thesister told me that one Dadi ji

(a senior BK sister) livedthere who normally didnt meetnew comers; but since I was

so much interested in knowingabout God, she could arrange ameeting with Dadiji. AndI happily agreed to meet her .

I met Dadiji and sat in frontof her in a chair. Dadiji spoke inHindi and I needed a translator.Nevertheless, that meeting wasa turning point in my life inquenching my thirst of talkingto God. After routine enquiry,Dadiji gave me a powerfuldrishti and I was lookingstraight at her eyes. During thattime, I felt as though somecurrent was passing throughme, but it was a pleasant one.All my doubts about God gotcleared and I was fully satisfied.I had never felt so happy in mylife. After that, Dadiji advised

me to take up one-week course.I promised to Dadiji that I wouldtake up the course the nextday itself.

Her name was Dadi HaridayPushpa and she was In-Chargeof Karnataka Zone of BrahmaKumaris. She was one of thefounding members of OmMandali (erstwhile name of Brahma Kumaris organization),and a great Rajyogini who couldelevate souls to spiritual heightsthrough her powerful yog-drishti . I was fortunate indeed,as a chance meeting with her

had led me to God-realisation.As my wife and the friends

    family had some other

appointments, I alone went tothe centre the next day andattended the first-day course. The Brahma Kumari sister

explained about the soul. It wasfor the first time that Iunderstood the self as incognitosoul, separate from the body. This new explanation appealedto me. I felt very satisfied withthe knowledge and somehow Ifelt that it was this place, whereI would be able to see God andtalk to Him. During the trafficcontrol break, the sister told meto think of God for a fewminutes. At that time I saw abeautiful point of light in mymind; I was certain thatit was God. I told this to thesister and she also confirmed

that it was God Shiva. Therewas no limit to my happiness. Ireturned home full of joy and toldmy wife that the BrahmaKumaris gave the truek n o w l e d g e a n d t h a t n oparticular religion was taughtthere. The next day, she joinedme and the first-day coursewas repeated. From thenonwards, i.e., since 1 st Jan, 1992we have been regularlyattending the Rajyoga classes.

After having attended theregular classes for about threemonths, we had a chance to

visit Mount Abu, InternationalHeadquarters of PrajapitaBrahma Kumaris Ishwariya

Vishwa Vidyalaya for aspecial VIP programme, accompanied by B.K. sister of our centre. The complex islovingly called Madhubanwhich means the Forest of honey. B.K. sister Sheelurepeated the one-week coursein an excellent way. Thus, ourfoundation of the divineknowledge became verystrong. After having attendedregular classes for about sixmonths and having fullyunderstood how God comes inthe body of Brahma, we againvisited Madhuban to witnessthe descent of God FatherShiva. During the first visit of Bapdadas meeting, my betterhalf felt as if she was playing

with Shri Krishna inBrindavan and I hadthe vision of Brahma Babawith white beard, in the SubtleWorld. I understood God asHe really is and His role in thisDrama. I started talking toHim in Shanti Dham during mymeditation sessions.

German language. I explained tohim the Eternal World Drama andtold him that the Drama repeatsidentically every 5000 years. Hehad lost his wife and was worried; Iknew this. I told him notto worry and assured him thathis wife would come once againafter 5000 years and that he wouldenjoy his life with her once again. He stared at me for a while andtold me that if the cycle were torepeat every 5000 years, he washappy that he could meet her onceagain, but he was very muchworried that Hitler would also becoming again!!

I have now understood that mychildhood feeling of flying high insky was certainly related to themental flight of soul towards the

Supreme Soul and Param Dham ,our original home. I have hadseveral experiences in the past andevery day I experience sustenancefrom God in my day-to-day life. Thus God has fulfilled all mywishes of seeing Him and talkingto Him. Also, He is taking care of us in our daily life. If the readerslike my experience, I can sharemore instances to show howGod has been guiding us in our day-to-day activities.

Thank God! He has made mewrite this experience for the benefitof all readers.

    A DI DACT IC STORY

A farmer was taking three of his donkeys for sale to themarket.

On the way, he saw a river, and decided to have a dip.Since, he had only two ropes to tie the donkeys to a tree,he looked around wondering how to tie the third one.

He saw a sage and sought his help if he could give him arope to tie the third donkey. The sage did not have a ropebut had a suggestion.

He told the farmer, let the third donkey see you tying the

other two donkeys to a tree. Then you pretend to tie thisone also.

The farmer did as he was told and went for a dip in theriver. Coming back, he thanked the sage, and saw thatthe donkeys stood exactly at the same spot where he hadleft them.

He untied the two donkeys and patted the third one tostart moving. After going a little distance, imagine hissurprise when the third donkey stood still at the same spot.

Cajoling, kicking or talking did not help with the donkey, refusing to move from the spot. The farmer went back tosage, who told him, untie the third donkey. But,protested the farmer, I have not tied him.

The sage asked, You know it. But does the donkey knowthat? Sure enough the farmer went back and pretendedto untie the donkey. The donkey moved immediately asthough released and walked over to join the other twodonkeys.

Moral of the story: we are all also tied up by too manyimaginary ropes..... which are really non-existent. The onlytruth is there are no boundaries in real life and anyone canstretch to any extent ... Dont we all see records being broken, every time, everywhere and every day?

It is a fact that modern worldhas provided all physical andmaterial comforts andfacilities. The InformationTechnology has converted theworld into a global village.Anything happening in any partof the globe, is known to its otherparts, in a second. Barring a fewcountries, others have sufficientfood to eat, cloth to wear, placeto live, avenues for earning alivelihood and so on. Health carefacilities available areunprecedented with a lot of specialisations, law enforcementand security agencies haveknowledge and facilities to

combat, control or preventviolence and maintain law andorder. Great strides have beenmade in literacy field, empowering people tounderstand the affairs of theworld on their own and theircapacity for contributions hasincreased. Transport facilities inall areas have improved. Thereis unprecedented increase in thepurchasing power of the people.

Looking at all thesemodernisation and upgradation, some people think that thisworld has become a veritable

heaven. But, the stark realityis that eventhough people haveeverything material andphysical in life; they do not havethe real wealth of peace, happiness, solace and security.Due to the absence of these, their life at four dimensions isin jeopardy.

    Life at the emotionallevel

Human being is a thinkingspecies. Man has feelings andemotions. He is an emotionalbeing. Due to waste andnegative thinking, which isinfluenced by the five vices, tension and stress is produced,

leading to emotional outburstshere and there. Sometimes, there is silent emotionaleruptions, while at other timesvociferous emotional outburstscreate uneasiness within apersons own self, in hissurroundings, both for fellowhuman beings and also thenature. This happens due to thefast lifestyle, which is the orderof modern living. There is cut-throat competition, concoctedand make-believe popularitycontest, intense urge to ruleover others, restricting the

freedom of others, voluptuousurge to amass wealth by anymeans, unprecedentedexhibitionism are the nature of

emotional undercurrents whichare prompted by the inneracquired nature of vices suchas sex-lust, anger, greed, attachment, ego, jealousy andsloth. Such an emotionalupheaval and imbalance iscreating a lot of uneasiness inthe inner life of the people ingeneral. There is widespreademotional conflagration, due towhich, no one is peaceful andhappy in the midst of the so-called material prosperity. Thisemotional heat is percolatingdown to the body of the personconcerned and he isexperiencing physical illness of different kinds. This is nowpushing oneself to depressionand nervous breakdown. Heart

attacks and diabetic casualties, suicide rates are increasing day-by-day. Many people becomeslaves to illicit habits likeconsuming alcohol and smoking.

    Life at the relationshiplevel

Because there is noemotional health and well-being,the emotional imbalance isreflected in the relationship.Harmonious relationship is oneof the important aspects of ahappy life. But, since there isno happiness, peace and easein the mind of man, he is not

able to behave and interactsatisfactorily and cordially withthe fellow human beings. His

unrest is mixing up with hisefforts to develop betterrelationship with others;relationship may be with wifeor husband, children or parents, friends or relatives, people whoare known or unknown. Theinner heaviness has thrownaway the rules, governing interhuman relationships, which inturn triggers uneasiness anddissatisfaction and thus therelationship is broken. Sincealmost everyone is on the samepavement and mindset, there isno scope for providing asoothing or curing effect byanyone else. As a result, wehave more paining and cryinghearts and also more and morebroken homes, while at the

physical and material level theyare well off. The number of divorces, destitute children andold-age homes have beenincreasing at a faster rate.Everything has come to bevalued in terms of money andother material considerations.

    Life at the conflictmanagement level

We all know that domesticand street violence is increasing.Since very few people have acalm and cool mind, violence andproblems of different kinds arenot successfully handled by the

majority of the people as theyhave either a hot mind or a coldmind. Due to emotional

imbalance, which is promptedby negative and waste thoughts, when a problem or violentsituation crops up, the personconcerned is not able to handleit properly. This will again shakeup the already disturbedemotional level and also thedeteriorating human relationshipset-up. It is necessary to havea stable mindset, with coolnessand calmness to discriminateand decide what is appropriateat the time of a conflict bothinside and outside. In order tosolve problems, one should think constructively and creativelywith calmness. Since the mindis flooded with waste, negativeand vicious thoughts, it cannotexperience peace and stability.

The solution for the successfulconflict resolution againpinpoints to the inner space, conveying the message that oneshould generate positive, pureand elevated thoughts.

Since the thoughts decide thestate of mind and life, one shouldforce oneself to select thoughtsat every moment of life. It issomething like a recipe for themind. In course of time, the mindis cleansed of its dirt of waste, negative and vicious thoughtsand purity will come to prevailall over mind. From that level,

the emotional health will startimproving, and along with thatinter-human relationship will

also improve. These two willagain empower the ability tosolve problems in life withoutdisturbing the inner life and alsothe relationships.

Self-discoveryNo one has got time to look

inside. Everyone looks atothers, watches others;criticises others, pull otherslegs; appreciates others, helpsothers and so on. But, it is mostimportant for us to discoverourselves. We must understandour own thoughts, feelings, emotions, wishes, aspirations, inspirations, specialities, goodness and so on. Unless, weunderstand ourselves; we willnot be able to manage ourselves, successfully. It is necessary for

us to watch ourselves, controlourselves, regulate and lead ourthoughts, words and deeds, ourmovements and feelings, impulses and responses, andalso the experiences which wegain from time to time. It is alsonecessary for us to review ourexperiences and educateourselves to revise and refineour course of responses to gainbetter experiences. Throughthis process, we will come todiscover ourselves. My bodyis my mortal dimension. Thebody is perishable. The energy

within is imperishable, that is, what I am. I am the most powerfulconscient spiritual energy, which is supplying the energy requiredfor the body to sustain life for me. Therefore, I am the sum total

of all my thoughts, feelings, emotions, impulses, responses, discriminating and deciding capabilities and a bank of experiences.Underneath of all these is, a virtuous core, which is now over-shadowed by vices. These ramifications and dimensions are allthe manifestations of the micro star of consciousness which abidesbetween the eyebrows, in front of the hypothalamus that is whatI am, the soul. Soul-consciousness i.e. when I am aware of myown identity, not only that I am the Master of my body, but also Iam the Master of my own spiritual self. Therefore, our realexistence is spiritual. When we are aware of our spiritual essence, our natural virtues of knowledge, purity, peace, love, happiness, bliss and power will become active in different dimensions in theforms of values, which will reflect in our thoughts, words, actionsand interactions. Therefore, it is very essential in modern living.

God-consciousness Rajyoga meditationThere is need for a paradigm shift in our consciousness. Soul-

consciousness gives us freedom to choose appropriate thoughts, through which appropriate feelings and emotions can be generated. This also gives the virtuous core, a chance to sprout and grow andinfluence my thoughts and decision-making capabilities. Soul-consciousness again gives rise to a natural inclination to connect

oneself to the Supreme, who is the Ocean of all spiritual powers. On my own,I am a spiritual power, while when I connect mythoughts, feelings and emotions to the Supreme, I am chargedwith the spiritual power. Spirituality is a combination of all goodnessand spiritual powers which are gained through natural soul-consciousness and God-consciousness. It is called Rajyoga inspiritual language.

ConclusionThe greatest casualty of modern living is that man knows more

about everything outside of himself and very little about inside of himself. But, the truth is that everything in the World starts fromwithin. Therefore, for want of correct knowledge of himself andof God, his emotional management, relationship management, conflict resolution management are not properly handled. Bygaining this knowledge, he is able to combine Spirituality withmodern living so as to enjoy freedom and life.

S rimad Bhagwad Gitaexhorts man to attainperfection by performinghis allotted duties in a spirit of sacrifice, which means withoutexpecting the fruit of actions, without attachment, and evenwithout the feeling that I amthe doer of actions. When youoffer the fruit of your actions toGod and also its doership, thenyour work becomes worship of God. With actions performed inthis manner, one attains purity of mind, which is a prerequisite forgaining progress on the spiritualpath. Man has to perform certain

obligatory duties, while living inthe world, which are detailedbelow.

    Recognise the Soul,Develop the Self

Our first duty is towards ourown self. Let us identify andrecognise the self as a point of light, Atma or soul possessing abody. Atma takes the support of the body to express itself andplays its roles in the WorldDrama. God, the Supreme Soul,is SAT CHIT ANAND , i.e.,absolute Truth, AbsoluteKnowledge and Absolute Bliss.

Being a progeny of God,inherent qualities of soul arealso purity, peace, happiness, love, compassion etc.Generally we neglect thenourishment of Atma and giveutmost importance to improveour physical charm. Anordinary human being thinksthat if our body is attractive, ourmind and intellect shall alsogrow. We must realise that weshould have all-rounddevelopment of our personality, giving equal importance tobothphysical and spiritualnourishment-to attain a

wholesome personality. For itsnourishment, soul needs rest, silence, peace, love, truthfulness, happiness andrighteousness. These are pre-requisites for innerdevelopment of soul. When weacquire these traits, thesemanifest in our conduct. Acomplete man is not onlyworldly wise but also spirituallyelevated which is only possiblewhen we provide appropriatenourishment to the soul. In life,we generally nourish the visiblepart of our self, i.e., body, but

ignore the invisible and subtlepart i.e., soul consisting of mind, intellect and sanskars . To keepthe body in a fit state, the body

should be given satvik food, proper exercise and kept neatand clean. Body is the templeof God and, therefore, it is ourresponsibility to keep the templeof God free from any type of dirt. Mind should be nourishedwith love, happiness, peace andbliss. Mind should be kept pureby allowing it to practisespiritual values. Intellect shouldbe nourished by knowledge andwisdom. Yoga and meditationstrengthen the intellect and givepower to judge afterdiscriminating between what isright and what is wrong andfollowing the righteous path.

It should be noted that mindis the chief faculty governingthe body. We should avoid

suggesting to the mind of ourlimitations like sickness, old ageand death. If mind is kepthealthy, the body will be able tohandle its stress. Mental hygieneis superior to physical hygiene.A healthy mind also helps us toform good relationship withothers.

Our Home is HeavenOur second duty is towards

the maintenance and upkeepof our family. We shouldnever have a possessiveattitude towards them but weshould act like a trustee,

without attachment, inmeeting their day-to-dayrequirements. I t is our

responsibility to teach highervalues of life to our children.Children learn more by actionsof their parents rather than bywords. I t is , therefore, essential that our conduct asparents should be exemplary. If parents actions arerighteous, trustworthy andhelpful, children shall adoptthese traits with no difficulty. What children learn from theirparents remain with them life-long. Do not get angry withyour children for some of theirfaults. Make them understandwhat is correct, with love andpatience. Do not haveunjustifiable expectations fromyour children. They should benourished to grow at their own

    pace.Honesty and S incerity at

our Work PlaceOur third duty is towards our

place of work, which is oursource of income that enablesus to maintain ourselves and ourfamilies. We should regard ourplace of work as a sacred placeand work with integrity, sincerityand honesty. We should neverthink of amassing wealth byunfair means. Work becomesworship of God, if we offer thefruits of work and its doershipto God.

Creating Better Societyand a Better World

Our next duty is towards the

society we live in and the worldin general. We must rememberthat we are the children of oneGod and so the world is a family. So, we should deal with othersas nicely as we expect others todeal with us. God says that I amthe friend of all, so, there is noreason why we should notmaintain friendly relations withall. Make the world your own,as there is no stranger in theworld. Friendship is atrustworthy relation, which is atool to cure hatred and promotepeace all around. Give as muchas you can to the society andworld in general. If nothing else, give good wishes to all. Servingothers is the salt of life. The moreenergy you spend in serving

others, the more divine energywill flow into you. Service shouldalways be provided to the poor,down-trodden, sick andneglected. When you serveothers, your own problemsbecome less. Serve with afeeling of equality andcompassion. When a person

realizes that we are the membersof a great spiritual family, sonsand daughters of the same

Supreme Father, his attitudetowards others will change intolove and spirit of service.

While living in the world, weshould always contribute tomake it a better place to live in.We may not be able to changeothers before we changeourselves into a better personand inspire others to becomegood people. The golden ruleis to serve all with body, mind and wealth to theextent possible and depen-ding on our capabilities. Weall can help others as we allhave some talent in us.

The above-mentioned fourduties are equally important andwe should perform these dutieswithout neglecting any of them

for the sake of another. Theseduties are like the four legs of atable, which give stability to thetable if all are of equal lengthand size. Any shortcoming in anyof the legs will make the tableunstable. Thus, we can surelycontribute to make this world abetter place to live in.

A n old person, aged 70,came into contact withthe Brahma KumarisRajyoga Centre. He attendedMurali" classes and practisedmeditation regularly which

brought a lot of transformationin him. He also started sharingthe knowledge of Rajyoga withevery person he met. He usedto come to the centre riding ona horse which would run veryfast.

But after a few months, hishorse became very weak andtired and so was he. So, he wasnot able to attend the classesregularly. In absence of regularspiritual studies, his interest inmaking spiritual endeavourreduced and finally he stoppedcoming to the Centre.

One day, Sukumar, B.K.sister Jonali and some otherB.K. brothers and sisters, werestanding in front of the SubDivisional Collector office onPalla road. They had come tomeet with S.D.C. and requesthim to allot a piece of government land to the localBrahma Kumaris Centre.

It so happened that the abovementioned gentleman was alsopassing through the same PallaRoad, riding an old bi-cycle. Infront of his bi-cycle, he had tieda large sized 'Chepa'. (Chepa

is an apparatus made of bamboo which is used forcatching fish in the shallowrunning waters in the villagesof Assam. Fish, once trappedin the Chepa, cannot come outof it!) Actually he hadborrowed it from one of hisrelatives. It was the Monsoonseason. There were a goodnumber of fishes in the pondbehind his residence and hewanted to catch some; he hadagain become a non-vegetarian.

Had he taken the road infront of the B.K. Centre, itwould have been a short cut forhim. But on that day he hadavoided the short cut totally. Hewas afraid that if any BrahmaKumari sister saw him carryinga Chepa, he would have to cuta sorry figure. Therefore, witha view to avoid any contactwith the Brahma Kumaris

sisters, he had preferred alonger route-- through the Pallaroad.

B.K. brother Pulin saw himand called him. It was Pulin'sintention to save him from the

awkward situation of facing theB.K. sisters who were standingat some distance from them. Inan effort to avoid Pulin, thatbrother started to cycle faster. But after covering a shortdistance, he had to stop hisbicycle, as he found the B.K.brothers and sisters standing onboth sides of the road (in theform of a Chepa). He wastrapped in a very awkwardsituation, in the Chepa plantedby drama/destiny.

But he was pleasantlysurprised that sister Jonali spoketo him very affectionately andalso encouraged him to resumethe Murli classes and hepromised her to do so. Thus, hisspiritual journey started again.

Many new students of Rajyoga find it difficult torelinquish the habit of non-vegetarian food. Despite havinga great liking for the knowledge

Then his father asked himwhether he was satisfied. Sukumar toldhim that he was satisfied for that day butthe next day he would again like to eat it!

Though Sukumars father could notpersuade him to abstain from non-vegfood that day, later on, after attending theMurli classes and practising meditationfor a few months, Sukumar was able toovercome this habit easily; he had learntto take power from the Supreme Father,Incorporeal God Shiva.

This is how the practitioners of Rajyoga get support from the Supreme

HAPPINESS IS NOHAPPINESS IS NOHAPPINESS IS NOHAPPINESS IS NOHAP P INESS IS NO WHERE!WHERE!WHERE!WHERE!WHERE!

Many of us continuallypostpone ourhappiness indefini-

tely. Its not that we consciouslyset out to do so, but we keepassuring ourselves: Someday Illbe happy.

It will be interesting to see just how well you read the abovetitle. Did you read it as:

Happiness is nowhere (Ohno!) or that Happiness is nowhere! (Yippee!) Even if therewas a slight vision adjustmentneeded to view the correctsentence, its an indication of exactly how correct thesubconscious mind really is whether it sees happinesseverywhere or not.

We tell ourselves, well behappy when we get out of school get our first job geta promotion when our billsand mortgages are paid off. Weconvince ourselves that life willbe better after we get married, have a baby, then another andoh, perhaps another might bringa bundle of joy! Then we assureourselves that well have more

space and time when the kidsgo to school or when they getthrough the troubled teensphase. Ultimately we tellourselves that we will be happiernext year or during our next

vacation! The truth is, there isno better time to be happy thanRIGHT NOW.

In fact, a widely publicizedstudy reported in the BritishMedical Journal in 2008,involving 4700 participants, revealed that happiness, morethan unhappiness, tends tospread in social networks from

person to person moreconsistently. The power of happiness, moreover, can spananother degree of separation, elevating the mood of thatpersons husband, wife, brother, sister or friend. Happiness isindeed contagious!

Researchers, at HarvardUniversity, who helped conductthe study, wrote that onepersons happiness can affectanothers for as long as a year, and while unhappiness can alsospread from person to person, the infectiousness of thatemotion appears to be farweaker. This proves thathappiness is innately closer tothe soul, than sadness and thatby nature we are happy beings.

Since happiness can spreadthrough a population like avirus, why can it not influenceand improve the health andwell-being of clusters of people, who do not even know each

    other?Surveys by Gallup Poll, the

National Opinion ResearchCenter and Pew ResearchCenter conclude that spirituallycommitted people are twice aslikely to report being veryhappy than the least religiouslycommitted people. Perhaps thiscould be due to having a socialnetwork, the fulfillment of volunteering or a sense of purpose.

    Happier people are more

productive and thus moresuccessful. Happy hormonescreate a healthier life and soyour cells begin to smile too!

Happiness is a mindset; turnon your switch to happiness.Happiness is a power. Sadnessis simply an absence of happiness, as darkness isabsence of light. When yourmind is set and you are trulyexhilarated, especially aboutsomething that you were strivingto achieve, you wont allowanything to steal yourhappiness.

A happy attitude has to becultivated. Take things lightlyand go easy on yourself.Nothing is as serious as it looks. And nothing as bad as it seems.

If you have lost your happinessbecause you burnt yourexpensive shawl, or broke yourprecious vase or scratched yournew car, then think again. Didyou really ever think that those

things could give you infinite happiness? So what about relationships, you may ask. What

if that someone special, who seemingly gave you

so much happiness, suddenly decides to exit fromyour life in whatever shape or form, is your sadnessnot justified then? Fortunately not! To think thatsomething or someone out there, is the SOURCEof your happiness, is an illusion, the consumerindustry has been thriving and booming on. If youare happy in that ones company, its because theyare REFLECTING back the happiness, that isalready there inside of you.

The happiness Rajyoga refers to, is not onederived from temporal experiences such asindulging in chocolates or receiving accolades andawards, but rather an innate happiness that bubblesfrom within the moment you simply remember, thatis, re-member with your happy state.

Being happy is a choice. Choose this week tobe happy for no other reason than the fact thatyou deserve to be happy. Just try it; what haveyou got to lose? (Sadness!?) Start emerging happyhormones, and youll see just how contagious it is.There is no doubt that we are happier when we

are in close proximity to other happy people therefore, choose to be around happy people.

In the practice of meditation, you ascend fromhappiness, to joy, to bliss until you finally arrive atfulfillment and contentment. And it is at this pointthat you arrive at peace. This is the state wherepeace is synonymous with happiness.

Its time to choose to be happy. Happinessis not tomorrow, its now . It is not a destination;its enjoying the journey . Happiness is not adependency on something or someone, its adecision you take for yourself. And before youknow it, youll be flying above all your worries, and all the things due to which you were postponingyour happiness and then the inner voice will shoutout happiness is now here!

How much time you spend in self-introspection?How often you wonder about yourgreatness? You consider yourself handsome,Highborn and fairest of allHow do you think you are right? But others are inefficient, lazy and corrupt

You waste much time speaking ill of othersGiving names to your rivals and neighboursMaking fun of them as subjects to condemnPouring cans of poison and venom

You are pained to see your rival progressBut have a hearty laugh if he's depressedHow much you hatch plans for yourenemies?Don't know someone is constantly watching ?

Understand you'll receive what you giveDon't indulge into waste thoughtsYou are not made for themThey will pull you downTurn your destiny to hell

The Dhammapada says:'Don't follow low practicesDon't live carelesslyDon't hold wrong viewsDon't prolong the suffering world."

So also Sri Auronbindo:"Elevate your selfAnd realize the divine in you."

So, give up your waste thoughtsSay 'stop" when they occurOr divert them towards divinityTowards peace, happiness and purityThey will make your life betterHappy, peaceful and pure.

Every time we stand infront of a mirror, weadmire our appearance. We make so much of effort tolook better costumes, cosmetics, perfumes, plasticsurgeries, ornaments, fancyobjects and electronic gadgetsand what not. Why do we wantto look beautiful? We seem tocrave for someones attention, attraction, admiration, recognition, acceptance andapproval.

We often feel so proud of ourphysical beauty. We areenormously influenced by thepomp and the splendour of theoutside world.

If we look at it a little bitdeeper, we can realize whetherwe have any choice to decidewhat kind of body we get beforewe are born? What are we reallyproud of then? This body is Godsgift according to our past Karma .Is it not? You will be

flabbergasted to know how muchcontrol we really have on ourbody. We cannot stop the bodyaging. Can we? But, we act likewe are the boss. In fact we havebecome slaves of our body.

Check how many things bodydemands in a day. We yearn forvariety of tastes, physicalluxuries, comforts, status andrecognition and so on.

If you are not getting whatwe want, it gives you pain, hurts your ego, makes youexpress your anger, hatred and

jealousy. Even though we geteverything, we are only contentfor a short while. We feel likehaving more and more ...

Because we believe more isbetter. We have created avacuum inside. We havedeveloped a belief that happi-ness comes from worldlypossessions and wealth. We areoften confused betweencomfort and happiness. We arein a race to get more... leadingto comparisons, competition ...not always we win the race...which results into dissatis-faction, depression, frustration, restlessness and tension

growing this feeling inside along time... makes youphysically sick and mostimportantly makes youemotionally weak Thatswhere we lose balance...

judgment... confidence feelconfused and we feel totallylost. We become so desperateWe even sacrifice our values. Some will lose hope. Some willlook for short cuts. Some willsearch for temporary pleasures Some become addicted tosubstance (smoking, alcohol, drugs etc.), extramaritalrelations etc. This will only addfuel to the fire.

We think science andtechnology would be the remedyfor all the problems and the dailyinnovations can improve thequality of life. Has it onlybrought advancement oradversity too with it? Besidesbenefits, we have guns, missiles, and bombs on the other sidewhich only helped to createmore terror, violence, tensionand wars. We live in phobiathan ever before. Greed seemsto have taken over the ruleeverywhere within individualsor with nations.

Perhaps we can find peaceonly in Google, and not in reallife. As someone said Life usedto be good when apple andberry were mere fruits. Thereis so much of I-touch in ourlife than the human touch. Weseem to have more than we

really need. Still we admire howfortunate and peaceful ourgrandparents used to be.

We continue to quest forpeace and happiness in everypossible place and means. We

THE J OTHE J OTHE J OTHE J OTHE J O Y OF GIVI NGY OF GIVI NGY OF GIVI NGY OF GIVI NGY O F GIVI NG

The joy of giving is muchmore abundant andaccomplishing than the

joy of receiving. When wereceive something, the happi-ness or joy that is produced isexternal. But, when we givesomething to others (whether inmaterial form or any other subtleform, as love and gratitude), thehappiness that is created comesfrom within. Giving creates aprofound state of being. Givingproduces an inner salvation thatis incomparable and indescrib-able. When you gift someoneflowers, or when you giftsomeone the love and care theyneed, there is a space (sacredspace) that is created betweenthe two persons. And this spaceemerges the energy of positivevibrations. This energy thencreates an inner state of silence, peace and stillness between theconcerned persons. Finally, thisinner state helps the inner joy/ happiness being experienced bythem. The happiness furtherstrengthens their bond of relationship, which creates a

profound state of zeal and love.Energy of giving creates

miracles in all your relationships.I call this energy of giving as theenergy of the SUN. The Sunalways shines and rises for us,

every morning, regardless of seasons and the outercalamities like floods, earth-quakes and storms. The Sunnever complains to us that nowit is tired and it can rise or shineno more for us. The Sun isalways available to each one of us for its LIGHT. The Sun doesnot expect anything in return forits rising and shining. The Sundoes not say to us that you giveme this, and then Ill give youmy light.

In the same way, we all needto become like the SUN in allour relationships. We need tobe of giving nature in all ourrelationships, without anyexpectations. Even though, the

other person is showingnegative behaviour and creatingpain in the relationship, youneed to be loving andcompassionate to him/her andshower on him/her uncondi-tional love and acceptance andradiate all the love, joy, happiness and peace unto him.And when you give awayyourself and you allow your

qualities of peace, love and blissto flow, only then therelationship will blossom andheal. You have to become theLIGHT, for the other personto FEEL LIGHT. LIGHT

here means emerging truequalities and virtues of eachother and sharing them witheach other. For example, if oneperson is sensitive and emo-tional, while the other person isemotionally detached, then theemotionally detached personcan empower the emotional andsensitive person through thevirtue of his empathy. This istrue giving and empowerment. And when there is empower-ment, LIGHT automatically, emerges in the relationship. Andwhen there is this dance of theradiance of each others light, the relationship floats in a goldenlight of peace, harmony, purelove and bliss.

The joy resulting from thediffusion of blessings to allaround us is the purest andsublimest than can everenter the human mind, and

can be conceived only bythose who have experiencedit. Next to the consolationsof divine grace, it is themost balm to the miseries of life, both in him who is theobject of it, and in him whoexercises it.

Bp. PorteusLike the rose that spreads its

    fragrance unconditionally,

though it has thorns on it, weneed to spread our true virtuesand share the true colours of ourlight with the World. Only then,we will be able to createMAGIC in our relationships.

GOOD MANNERS ANDGOOD MANNERS ANDGOOD MANNERS ANDGOOD MANNERS ANDGOOD MANNERS ANDDISCIPLINE DISCIPLINE DISCIPLINE DISCIPLINE DISCIPLINE

NEXT TO GODLINESSNEXT TO GODLINESSNEXT TO GODLINESSNEXT TO GODLINESSNEXT TO GODLINESS

G ood manners anddiscipline are the pre-requisites of a civilizedlife. In absence of these, lifebecomes miserable and wehave to face lot of difficulties, even if we are highly qualified. We see people, in general, quarrel and fight even over asmall issue. Because thesocietys tolerance-capacity hascome down virtually to a zerolevel, even a small mistake canboil over to a big confrontationanywhere in house, office ora public place. For example, if

someone breaks a long queue attypical places such as railwayreservations, submission of forms, filling of water etc., itends up in total mess, confusion, and even fights.

Our ancestors maintaineddiscipline in all the spheres of life. Discipline was observed toa great extent and the views of elders were considered to befinal and obeyed by all. Peopleobeyed their kings, servantsobeyed their masters, andchildren obeyed their parents. There was thorough observance

of discipline as a result of whichthere were no misunder-standings, quarrels or any kindof negativity.

Gradually with the passageof time, there has beentremendous change in theattitude of the people. Themutual respect has been waningrapidly. No one likes to obeyothers. Might-is-Right attitudeis becoming prevalent. Life hasbecome really fast and peoplesimply dont give any thoughtto the action they are about toperform. My work should be

done by hook or crook, at anycost is the motto of the presentday generation. Such ones donot care whether their actionwould endanger somebodyslife or bring reproach on theentire community.

If the leadership of acompany is polite and wellbehaved, it is quite natural thatthe entire company will reflectthe same qualities, createpositivity and gain a good namein the market. On the contrary,if the leadership is undiscip-lined, dishonest and ill-

tempered, definitely the entirestaff working under them willbe like them, as a result of whichthe overall reputation in the

market will be tarnished. In thelong run, that company will loseits business and thus cannotsurvive.

In today, fast-paced world, both husband and wife feelcompelled to work hard to earntheir living. This often results ina mad race for money amongthe family members, finding littletime for more important thingslike rearing the children in aproper and ideal way. Parentsprovide the children the basicnecessities and even comfortsfor their lives at the cost of neglecting discipline.

Nowadays, right from the dayone, when a child goes toschool, parents think that givingthe child pocket money lavishly,

is all that is required, only torealize later that they wereactually spoiling their child, whonow finds himself addicted tothe habits of smoking, drinking, taking drugs and doing otherignoble acts. Thus, the stage isset for the destruction of thevery foundation of the family.

Once, I was travelling by acity bus in Delhi about sevenyears ago. There was also acouple sitting in the back row,but their four-year-old child wassitting beside me. The child wasvery naughty and ill-mannered.

Twice he kicked me; I ignored it thinking that hedid it unknowingly. The third time, he kicked meintentionally. I maintained my cool and explained

to the boy that that was not the way to behavewith the elders and he should sit diligently. Hisparents remained mute spectators. He sat quietfor some time. All of a sudden, he got up againfrom his seat and kicked me. I literally shoutedat him. Finally the parents opened their mouthonly to defend their childwith an irresponsiblestatement: He is a child; just ignore him, hedoesnt know what is right or wrong. This wasa totally irresponsible attitude of parents towardstheir child, as they were not controlling hisindiscipline; and they were not prepared toapologise for his mistake. I finally told themsternly that if his misbehaviour was notcontrolled, he would prove a great trouble forthem. I was supported by co-passengers in thebus, which made the couple bow down theirheads.

In the above case, it is the mental attitude of the parents which made the child behave in astupid and undisciplined way. In any family,

whether wealthy or poor, if the childs behaviouris not controlled by parents in the initial stagesitself, he or she may certainly tarnish the disciplineof the family by his illegal or heinous acts. If theparents are good-cultured and godly, obviouslythere will be all positivity around and the childrenwill also develop godly and positive attitudetowards everyone. Godl
