A WIND-LIKE LIFE
God knows that human life is not strong to last forever. The strength of a human body can quickly fail.
People who are healthy can suddenly become ill and die. Even though some live for 80 or 90 years, they are often troubled by many difficulties and tragedies.
No one can be sure how long he will live. Our life on earth is very uncertain. All of a sudden, our bodies can become weak and our health turn for the worse.
The Bible here compares our lives to the wind, which moves swiftly, and loses its strength and subsides quickly. The life of every person will also be gone very quickly. His days move swiftly on.
Because God knows how unsteady our life is, He would be gracious and gentle towards us. He will not be harsh and severe, but kind and compassionate. Let us be thankful for all the compassion which He shows towards us.
Let us also remember that we should not be proud of ourselves. No matter how strong or smart we may think we are, we can be “blown away” very quickly by conditions beyond our control, and be no more. So let us always conduct ourselves in humility before God and men.
Psalm 78:39For he remembered that they were but flesh; a wind
