What do you normally do on the weekend?

The weekend starts off on Friday with happy hour

wherever my friends are going. Saturday is usually the

club or whatever party is on that night and on Sunday,

I will take the family to Hellshire for the beach and fish.

What has been your favourite weekend to

date?My favourite weekend to date would be the good old

days – Carnival weekend in Jamaica or Trinidad Carnival.

DRINK OF

CHOICE:White rum and cranberry juice

Page 5: the wkndr eZine

How are you able to manage your time on

the weekend having your own business and a

family? It is very hard to manage my weekends now, because we are

so busy producing Jamaica 50 apparel. This has caused me

not to see much of my kids because I reach home so late at

night and get up early in the mornings. What is your weekend must-go/must-do/must-eat?My weekend must-go is to see if there is a Cooler Fete going

on. My must-do is to have my afternoon Sunday snooze at

around 4pm. My must-eat is pan chicken.

If you had one free weekend, no restrictions,

no responsibilities, what would you do?

If I had one weekend, no restrictions, no responsibilities… it

would be to check into a really, really nice all-inclusive hotel

and just relax and get pampered. What would you recommend everyone

do on the weekend?I would recommend that everyone enjoy Friday and

Saturday nights and spend all day Sunday with the family,

especially with your kids.

Golden Jubilee Village showcases Jamaica’s history

#gosee

The National Stadium has been transformed into the Golden Jubilee Village from August 1, Emancipation Day, to the 6th, Independence Day. Numerous activities will be taking place throughout the week to get our patriotic hearts pumping as we celebrate our country’s great milestone together.

This grand village will showcase fun activities fit for the entire family. Enjoy tonnes of entertainment, authentic Jamaican cuisine, amusement rides, shopping, exhibits and so much more. There is no charge to enter the Golden Jubilee Village. Just bring your national pride.

The Golden Jubilee Village Exposition – Displays by organisations showcasing their journey through Jamaica’s pre and post indepedence years

Grand Indepence Market – Purchase official Jamaica 50 merchandise

Children’s Village – Storytelling, quizzes, amusement rides, a magic show and tonnes more to excite the little ones about our heritage

Art and Craft Village – This display will take you on a journey through Holland Bamboo with real Jamaican road-side bargains and sales.

Parish Square – Exciting and informative displays from each of the 14 parishes

Food Courts – Three different eating spots, including a food vending village that recreates the Faith’s Pen experience

On the Big Stage – Live entertainment between 12:30pm and 6:30pm

A special feature in the Village is the Jam50 Shop, designed by a young graduate of the Edna Manley School of the Visual and Performing Arts. The shop will feature all of the official licensed Jamaica 50 merchandise and memorabilia.

VACATION! ALLI’VE EVER wANTED

#checkin

With any beach party weekend, a key ingredient is the right wardrobe and All Wet Beachwear is the perfect place to get your look right; there’s something for everyone, from swimsuits to beach party-worthy cover-ups. Complement your sexy beachwear with iPANEMA sandals and flip-flops. What isn’t sexy, though, is sunburn, so be sure to use Australian Gold sun care products to get a safe tan.

Caribbean Producers Jamaica has been providing Jamaica with wines and spirits since 1994, so naturally, they are a go-to brand for beverage satisfaction. Sponsoring this year’s SPF Weekend, along with other beverage providers like Pure Country, Coca-Cola and Schweppes, means the drink possibilities are almost endless. For the less fussy drinkers, beer will also be in abundance. However, it is a beach weekend and dehydration is a serious threat, so ensure you stay hydrated with WATA!

While in Ocho Rios for the SPF Weekend, there is plenty to see and do outside the hotel. Saturday morning is the perfect time to play tourist. The sea, sand and sun that Jamaica is world-renowned for are all within your reach and the Jamaica Tourist Board is a great place to start when looking for activities nearby. You’re already at one of the best vacation locations in the world, so take advantage of it!

I’M SEXY ANDI KNOw IT!

DRINKS, ANYONE?

This gem of a hotel is the hotspot for the SPF Weekend. Located in Mammee Bay, just outside of Ocho Rios, it is in the centre of all the action, making it a convenient place to stay. You can also benefit from great deals, including special bookings via the SPF Weekend website and exciting hotel events just for the weekend.
